Overview

On-site amenities include a spa, two outdoor pools and three restaurants
Top Miami Beach attractions cannot be reached on foot from the resort
Although it only opened its doors in 2012, The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort has made a lasting impression on Miami Beach, Florida, visitors. Travelers describe their experiences here as phenomenal, primarily due to the property's attentive staff and prime location. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean from its seat in Bal Harbour (about 10 miles north of South Beach), this member of the St. Regis Hotels family provides a less frenzied setting much appreciated by couples and travelers with children. Guest rooms are spacious (albeit pricey thanks to the $45 daily resort fee) and feature neutral hues and private furnished balconies, as well as high-tech amenities like flat-screen TVs with DVD players and tablets for controlling lights, blinds and thermostats. When you're not bedding down, you can pass the time at one of two outdoor pools, the 14,000-square-foot Remède Spa or the adjacent 1,000-foot-long beach. The resort also features three on-site restaurants, including one with a wine vault. And because The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort is part of the Marriott hotel family, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.

When this $1 billion–plus resort opened in 2012, Miami's North Beach entered a new era of glamour and haute living, with A-list big spenders rushing to stay in this 27-story, 243-room, triple-glass-tower masterpiece. In every facet of design and operation, the St. Regis is magnificent. An unassuming entrance gives way to a series of three-story, octagonal lobby partitions finished in rare West African movingui wood and exclusively quarried Chinese marble, illuminated by sparkling chandeliers hung from rosette ceilings, and decked in world-class European artwork.

Stepping into The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort feels a little bit like entering an abstract art gallery: the entryway is a largely empty room, save for an enormous metal sculpture hanging from the ceiling and a few tufted chairs and couches that you may or may not be allowed to sit on. Keep walking and you’ll find yourself in the lobby, which is equally artistic with its dark marble floors, massive chandeliers, and geometric, mirrored walls.
