Showing Age

This is a beautiful, traditional hotel and I’ve enjoyed many stays here. But it is beginning to show age and starting to feel a bit run down. Staff was nice as always, and beds are super comfortable. However, we requested adjoining rooms but weren’t given them, even though it was obvious both of our rooms were capable of adjoining had we just been placed side by side. The hotel was obviously not full, so I’m not sure what happened there. I understand certain restrictions apply due to COVID, but wish we had been warned ahead of time that there was no room service and the on-site restaurant was only open limited hours so we could have brought our own snacks or planned ahead. We were traveling with children and this made meal time difficult as there were no good options close by within walking distance, no place to purchase snacks, and the one meal we ate at the on-site restaurant was ridiculously overpriced and mediocre at best (although the service was fantastic, the food just wasn’t very good.) I went to store leftovers in our room fridge since there were no snacks available anywhere and the fridge was filthy (see photo). The rest of the room seemed clean, but this was a bit disturbing during a time when extreme cleaning precautions should be taken. The furniture is visibly worn and needs to be replaced or refinished. All in all still a pretty hotel, but for the astronomical price it desperately needs an update. There are much better options in Houston. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Downton Abbey?

No way my income level allows me to spend $300-400/night for a hotel...but since I was here for business I stayed for 2 nights for free! And WOW! This place is really nice! PROS: -Luxury, luxury, and more luxury! -Spacious, clean, and and classy room and bathroom -Big TV, Coffee Machine, -Nice pool and gym that are both open late! Perfect for post conference networking & BSing. -Very friendly staff...its like they're from Downton Abbey. -Complimentary shuttle service within roughly 5 miles. CONS: -Expensive! You get what you pay for though! -No in room refridgerator, just a pricey mini bar. -Not in walking distance of anything. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice quiet stay

The customer service is great. The only downside is the hotel is showing its age. It has an old luxury feel but can use a bit of updating. Since they had just opened back up from COVID Shutdown the restaurant inside the hotel had limited hours. We enjoyed the pool area with our little girl. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Loved it!

Loved the elegance and class of this property. The location is great. From check in to check out, every staff person we encountered was friendly, attentive and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The bed was ultra comfy. Thumbs up to the front desk, concierge and the waiter at the restaurant. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful Experience

My husband and I just stayed for 3 days and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is lovely and the service was great. We had the pleasure of meeting Nicole Pacillas , concierge who really went above and beyond to make our trip great! Also the bell boy John was a pleasure and very helpful! The room was comfortable and clean, front desk staff excellent! The only negative was the house car driver. He really was grumpy and it was awkward when we needed a ride.... he made us uncomfortable. He really made it obvious he did not want to drive us anywhere. Other than that everything was wonderful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
