Huge Room !

May 24th, 2019

I am staying here for couple of nights for business. Arrived in the evening around 8pm, and i had to wait 15 minutes for the room, but never mind as they upgraded to a Suite therefore they needed to check the room. Its in 8th floor and when the concierge escorted me to the room, i was amazed that they are giving such a huge room only for myself. Thank you very much !! They also have a butler service for my room and offered me a help with packing my suitcase on my departure. Such a personalize service. The location is pretty much close to the center and within walking distance my event venue so it is perfect for me. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect Location with Impeccable Doorman

May 13th, 2019

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to let the management know that I had an extremely unpleasant experience with a female concierge staff. Had I felt unfair to other hotel staff whose services were outstanding during my stay, I would have given the Hotel the lowest rating on Tripadviser. I sincerely hope that the management would look into it and gave this female concierge staff some CS training so that a rotten apple will not damage the reputation of St Regis as a whole in future. Doormen I must have checked in during busy hours and there were at least 4 hotel staff standing outside the Hotel, providing assistance to hotel guests. As soon as our car pulled off at the entrance, a hotel staff immediately came to assist us with my luggage. After I got off the car, two hotel staff greeted us with a big smile and one of them was Lucas. Lucas brought us to the front desk and offered us a cup of traditional Russian tea with bread, introducing the traditional Russian hospitality to us. Lucas also helped take the luggage to our room and hanged my jacket in the robe. Whenever we met Lucas in the lobby, he always greeted us with a big smile on his face and asked us about our day. When it was raining outside, Lucas would run to get two umbrellas for us. After we took our luggage from the storage room on the day of check-out, Lucas immediately asked if he could help us with the arrangement of transportation. When Lucas learned that we had already arranged our own transportation, he asked us about the registration number of vehicle so that he could inform us once the vehicle arrived. Lucas is by the far the best doorman whom I met. Anton was very attentive as well. While I was taking some photos of a tea pot next to the front desk, Anton was standing by myself in case we would like to have some tea. Concierge Denis was polite, patient and always had a big smile like Luca. However, I couldn’t say the same to his concierge colleagues. I would like to visit a few metro stations including Revolution Square, Novoslobodskaya, Komsomolsdaya, Kiyevskaya and Mayakovskaya. These are the most famous metro stations for tourists. A lot of Russians don’t speak English, it is essential to get as much information as I could before leaving the Hotel. But Inna was neither patient nor friendly to answer my questions. During the time of my inquiry Inna told me that I could have taken a metro tour at 3 p.m. on that day. It was nothing wrong to offer us a tour option. Inna, however, sounded like that I was annoying and wasting her time. I asked Inna to write down the Russian name of these stations next to the English ones on my note which I could show it to passer-by if I got loss at the stations. Inna refused it at first, saying that it was already on the map. Sure, it was on the map but the text was so small and I wonder how many could actually read it. I therefore insisted on it and then she reluctantly wrote it down my note. As I don’t know a word of Russian, I spelled Kiyevskaya wrongly. She didn’t bother to ask me about it and just wrote down the wrong station name for me. I spent an hour or so at the wrong station before knowing it. I understood that I didn’t spell the name in English correctly. Being a concierge staff, however, Inna should have known about which five are the most famous metro stations in Moscow and provided me some “correct” advice on it accordingly. Denis was off the following day and I had no choice but asked Inna about some travel information again. We would like to go to Victory Park in the afternoon on Victory Day. Inna told me that all the roads/the entrances of the station to Victory Park were closed but we could still take a look at the interior design of the station. She couldn’t be more “wrong”. There were a huge crowd including the locals and tour groups going to the Park by metro. If they knew, why wouldn't Inna? The concierge staff at an international 5-star hotel should have the first hand travel information. So I thought. On our way back to the Hotel, I ran out of data usage and couldn’t use Google map to locate us. No one whom I asked inside the metro station knew where was St Regis although I showed them the map provided by St Regis. I saw a map on the wall inside the station but it was written in Russian. A hotel next to exit 10 was marked on the map but it was in Russian. I didn’t want to get out of the wrong exit as it was freezing cold outside. I called the Hotel for confirmation of the exit number and the operator transferred my call to a female concierge staff. I didn’t get her name. It might or might not be Inna. It was at about 6:45 p.m. on 9 May 2019 at the time I called. I am sure that the management would be able to find out who she was when they looked into the roster of the day. I asked the female concierge staff which exit should I take. She kept asking me to find Nikolskaya Street where the Hotel is situated. If I knew where was Nikolskaya Street, I would not have called the Hotel for help in the first place. I had talked to her over the phone for more than 10 minutes to no avail. I thought she didn’t “understand” me and asked a local at the station to talk to her. The local later handed me back the phone and told me that the female staff asked me to get out of any exit of the station and then find the sign of St Regis back to the Hotel. Seriously??? I was so so so shocked by her response. I once again asked her if she could try to find the exit number for me on Google. She then told me that it was exit 9. I then asked her if it would be exit 9 or 10. She replied exit 9 or 10. I couldn’t believe that a concierge staff didn’t know which the nearest metro exit to the Hotel. If they didn’t know about it, they could at least find it out on Google instead of asking their stranded guests to a do try-and-error game. Butler Team, Front Desk & Housekeeping The butler team, front desk staff and room cleaning ladies were friendly and helpful. The room cleaning ladies were very polite and helpful although they didn’t speak a word of English and it might have taken a lot of physical displays (the body language didn’t work) to let them know what you needed. But once the cleaning ladies understood it, they would immediately try to help you. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Kirstina, Anastasia, Anna, Jenifer, cleaning ladies (I didn’t get their names) for their services. I love smiles and these staff always had smiles with friendly attitude. Location The location is perfect which is about 15 minutes walk to Red Wall, St Basil’s Cathedral and Gum as well as 25 minutes to Kremlin. Unfortunately, during the period of our stay it was close to/on Victory Day a lot of roads were closed. The concierge staff told us that we could go to Kremlin by metro. To make the matter worse, when we got to the metro station near to Kremlin, every road to Kremlin was literally closed due to the rehearsal of parade which lasted about an hour. But even after the rehearsal of parade finished, the roads would remain closed for quite some time. The situation was much worse on the day of parade. Further, St Basil’s Cathedral would not open till the next day of parade. If you have a choice, it is recommended not to visit Russia close to/on Victory Day. Room We stayed in a deluxe room which is 30 sqm. While the room is not large, it was tastefully designed with a private balcony. I am a light sleeper and the front desk assigned me a room facing the courtyard. It was so quiet. But if you opt for a better view, you might ask the front desk to give you a room facing Red Square. Room Service As advised by a tour guide, we stayed in the room till 1 p.m. on Victory Day. We ordered room service and watched the parade live on TV. The food was great. Most importantly I could order some vegan food. Palina, who brought us the food, was very polite and friendly. Housekeeping Room was clean. But the housekeeping ladies often missed a lot of items in the room – no hand towels for two nights, no tea bags, no replacement of notepad during my stay….Housekeeping ladies forgetting to replace some items in the room occurred to every international 5-star hotel I previously stayed including Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental. I therefore didn’t want to be too harsh on these housekeeping ladies. I understand that they had a lot on their plates. That being said, one thing should have never occurred was to let the balcony door widely open. One evening when I came back to my room, I found the curtain was being blown in the wind. I then found that the balcony door was widely open. It was raining heavily in that evening. I checked my personal belongings placed on the desk which was next to the balcony door. Luckily it didn’t get wet. Perhaps the housekeeping lady found that the room was stuffy and tried to have some fresh air by opening the balcony door. But it was critical for her to have it closed when she left the room although the security of St Regis was good. WIFI The WIFE was perfect both in the lobby and the room. But some people with bad manner, who were not the hotel guest, used WIFI in the lobby lounge. The Hotel might consider using password for hotel guests to access WIFI in the Hotel. Lobby Lounge The area was comfy. We had our lunch here once. At first I ordered zucchini lasagne with vegan cheese. Aibat said that it was not available. I therefore asked him to recommend some vegan dish for me. Aibat helped asked the kitchen and then recommended me mushroom joulenge which was delicious. But I could not say the same for the club sandwich my partner ordered. The club sandwich looked worse than the one from fast food shops. Aibat could also play piano. You might enjoy some free entertainment if it happened that he was working on the shift. Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi & Foot Massage Bowls After a long day, you could dip yourself in an indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and/or foot massage bowls. All in all, I had a great stay at St Regis Moscow. Absolutely stunning hotel in the heart of the city. So close to Red Square and right next to a metro station makes everywhere accessible in the city. Staff are very friendly and very quick to resolve any problems. Bedrooms are beautiful and the bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in. Can't recommend it enough. Would definitely stay here again on a return visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
