Can’t Recommend

Yikes, a beautiful hotel has been ruined. We recently returned to The St. Regis Rome and found a beautifully remodeled and updated facility. Unfortunately, we also found a hotel that has sold its soul to the cruise ship industry. The majority of guests are not seasoned travelers, but instead a group getting ready to set sail on the next ship out. They descend on the lobby/restaurant for what must be their “included” breakfast, and the facility can’t support the crowd, service plummets, and those of us independent travelers wonder why we chose The St. Regis Rome. We return to Rome frequently, but we won’t return here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Most Gorgeous Hotel I have ever seen!

While everyone knows to expect every St. Regis to be beautiful, amazingly comfortable, top notch service be all staff and personnel, this St. Regis in Rome literally took my breath away. Hands down the most gorgeous St. Regis I have seen anywhere in the world! The moment you walk in, you will be in awe-shock of the incredible beauty! I can’t imagine ever staying anywhere else in Rome after being spoiled by this St. Regis hotel. This hotel truly deserves more than 5 stars! I would give it 10 stars if I could! More than met my expectations- it far over acceded it! Pricey but hands-down the most gorgeous and breathtaking hotel in all of Rome!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful property. Very mixed service experiences in the bar/restaurant

I just finished a five night stay in the property. It is a beautiful hotel that has been renovated. The public areas are lovely. They have maintained much of the historic beauty (The 125 year old wooden elevator for instance) but also added modern conveniences to keep up with the needs of today's demanding travellers. Service ranged from excellent (front desk staff and the butler team) to totally variable (the bar/restaurant staff). One night I was sitting at a table off the library area of the bar for about 2.5 hours. Service was abysmal. They had a special function of sorts going on and seemed severly under-staffed. Multiple times I had to get up and look for a staff member in order to get another drink. Even then, It was difficult to track anybody down. When it came time to pay the bill, I couldn't find anyone so I just left 100 euros cash on the table. I'm quite sure my bar bill was not even 50 euros. I didn't intend to leave such a large tip (especially with such poor service that evening) but as I couldn't find anyone to give me the check, I just ovecompensated. I never heard anymore about that. It would be nice if the hotel could refund me the difference between what my bill actually was that night and the 100 euros cash I left on the table. This occured on Sunday November 10th. I ordered the tomato Caprese Salad from room service one day and it was supurb. Just excellent. I see they were also serving it as an option in the restaurant. They make quite a big deal about it by preparing the salad off a cart which is put tableside. A very nice touch. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant is very good and the service in the mornings is excellent. I did order the Calvisius Oscietra Imperial Caviar at my table one night. The caviar itself was very good but I felt the presentation and accompaniments left something to be desired. There was no chopped onion offered and also the creme that was on the plate tasted like whipping cream (it was sweet) rather than the traditionally offered creme fraiche or sour cream. Caviar does not go well with sweet whipped cream. The presentation plate seemed cheap and flimsy with the caviar tin easily sliding away and almost tipping over on the ice that it sat on top of. All in all, I felt the caviar service was a fail. A proper caviar service is not done at many places around the world. There are reasons for this. Firstly it is expensive and not ordered by that many people. Secondly, you have to do the caviar service correctly with all the correct and fresh ingredients. The presentation must be perfect. A caviar service has to be done right.....or just don't do it at all. For me, there is no middle ground when it comes to caviar. Go big....or go home. The St. Regis needs to greatly improve on how they do the caviar or just stop doing it. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this beautiful property. Service is mostly good here. The restaurant/bar experience to completely variable both in terms of the service and the food. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

First Class

I recently stayed at the St Regis on a visit to Rome with my Mother. Everything was very lovely. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms look great a a bit more modern, without losing their historical character. Check in was very smooth and the staff all made us feel very welcome, from the Doormen, the Check in agent and the Butler assigned to our room. I really liked the feel of the open plan Lobby/Bar/Restaurant area and the nice touch of the nightly Champagne Sabering Ceremony. The breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice and pleasant surroundings..The staff made it very easy, from the Elegantly dressed young lady who was sweeping around the area welcoming people as they approached and finding them a table, I cannot recall her name, but she didnt miss anyone out and made sure everyone was attended to quickly. Then the nice waitress who was assigned to our table, was very sweet and friendly, always smiling and quickly clearing used plates away...I feel especially ashamed that I cannot recall her as she was so nice and we wanted to thank her personally! Location is easy enough to points of interest and very close to train Station TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gorgeous Hotel!

The St. Regis Rome is conveniently located near two main train stations; the Repubblica (3-4 minute walk) and Termini (8-10 minute walk). The hotel staff we encountered were all professional and great. After checking in, a butler helped us to our room while explaining the hotel and what it had to offer. What stood out for me was the staff that helped with breakfast. Their breakfast buffet has a nice variety of foods and their staff were always very attentive and personable - a great way to start your day. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
