Faded Glory: Facilities Need Some Love
Sep 15th, 2020
I stayed at this hotel four four weeks in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of services and facilities were shut down. I understood the need for the adjustments. The difficult circumstances notwithstanding, the staff did everything they could to maintain the level of service a guest would expect from a St. Regis property. They were all impeccably professional and polite. The staff and the beautiful, classic building from the 1920s are what make the St. Regis Washington a great place. The lobby is over-the-top ornate. It's fun to walk through it. Just below the surface, though, this place is really showing some wear. It's overdue for a renovation. The classic decor is great, but some of it is really worn. The carpet in my room was several different shades. The light fixtures were chipped. The nightstand boasted a Bose Wave Radio, the best compact sound system available in 1997. It's still a classic hotel and a fun experience, but it could use a facelift. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
This hotel is a must!

We just spent 2 nights at the St. Regis. The personal attention we received was incredible. The hotel is located within walking distance of the White House, the monuments and many other things. Though some things are still closed in DC, we had a great visit! The hotel is doing a great job with COVID precautions. For instance, my daughter and I booked our private time in the hotel gym. Breakfast was delivered to our room due to COVID and was delicious. The bar is open from 3 until 10 and you can get a meal there as well. Everyone in the bar area was distancing and wearing masks unless they were eating or drinking. I mentioned to the front desk manager that I wanted to bike to lunch. She mapped out my trip and gave me detailed instructions of how to rent the bikes. Again, the personal service at this hotel is incredible. I will be back!!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Unparalleled Luxury & Service

The St. Regis Washington DC is in a class to itself. Its old-world charm and decadence is both inviting and indulgent. The hotel continues to be my favorite in DC because of its luxurious accommodations and more importantly, the people. The attention to detail and care provided to guests is both sincere and unparalleled. For those who may be hesitant to travel during our time of COVID “new normal,” the hotel has implemented countless safety precautions on top of its already very high standard. Kudos to Gerardo Campos and the whole team for providing a safe haven paired with bespoke service in the district! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I enjoyed staying at the St. Regis due to its location. Great location to walk to White House which is down the street. Washington Monument is maybe a 20 min walk. However, the room and bathroom were small for a deluxe double bed room. I was a bit underwhelmed by the property in comparison to other St.Regis properties I’ve stayed at. The customer service is always above and beyond. However, the property itself I expected a bit more based on past experiences from other St.Regis properties. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

As a Bonvoy Gold Member we were very underwhelmed! Even though as a gold member we qualify for an upgrade we were refused the benefit we were entitled to. In order to get the upgrade we had to pay $100. The room we stayed in needs to be updated as is apparent in the pictures we have included as part of this review. A St. Regis with torn furniture? Not acceptable! Also the room was musty. I can not recommend this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
