Amazing and beautiful house with exceptional hospitality!

May 21st, 2019

I was looking for a relatively budget-friendly B&B-type experience for an anniversary trip to Savannah, and the Stephen Williams house ended up being perfect! The owner, Dr. Wall, welcomed us graciously into his home when we arrived after normal operating hours, and made us feel like family all weekend. He treated us to some fantastic home-cooked traditional Savannah-area recipes for breakfast each morning, and blessed us with some great conversations in his beautifully restored and maintained 1834 house. Our budget-friendly room was on the ground-level just off the back courtyard. The courtyard was beautiful, and our room was comfortable and exactly what we needed. The only downside is that it is located on the corner of a fairly busy street and sidewalk, so it's not as private as some might prefer. But the off-street parking in the back is a HUGE bonus that's not available everywhere. And, it made coming and going from our various adventures much more convenient than I would imagine at other B&Bs. We were able to take a peek at some of the other rooms upstairs, and they are absolutely gorgeous and perfectly appointed! We would certainly consider stepping up to one of them on a return visit. Dr. Wall has an amazing collection of antiques throughout the house that he has gathered over a lifetime. The location of this house was absolutely perfect for what we wanted to do, which was explore the beauty of Savannah on foot. It is on the western edge of the traditional historic district, and right in the middle from north to south. We walked up to the active riverfront area and down to the historic Forsyth Park area. The beauty of all the perfectly maintained houses and parks in between was breathtaking! Never once did we feel unsafe. This house was the near-perfect starting point for all of our exploring adventures. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not to be missed

Absolutely fabulous and a delight. The owner, Dr. Wall is the epitome of a true Southern gentleman and his staff is efficient and unobtrusive. Breakfast is "heirloom recipes" of the old South and not to be missed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A most elegant B&B

Nov 6th, 2018

An elegant B&B in a restored 1834 house located in the centre of the Savannah historic district. The house has been restored with painstaking attention to detail and lovingly furnished with the most beautiful of antiques. Towels, bed linens and robes are of extremely high quality and made one feel quite pampered. There is even turn-down service in the evening complete with a Lindt chocolate. The owner/host is most gracious and oversees preparation of a superb breakfast from old Georgia recipes. All of the staff are most helpful and welcoming- nothing was too much trouble. A gem of a place to visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful Experience

Aug 3rd, 2018

I really don't know how to describe my stay at The Stephen Williams House except to say it has to be one of the most amazing experiences I have had and I will never forget my stay here. Albert the owner is a wonderful gentleman and I use that word in the real meaning of the word. He was a real gentleman and such an interesting person. I could have spent my stay just sitting at his table listening to his stories. Wonderful. The rooms are fabulous. Full of beautiful and unusual furniture, lovely bedding and air conditioning that doesn't rattle and shake. Albert advised on were to visit and were to eat which was very useful. He also prepared breakfast each morning and poured out tea from a china pot into china cups, all very genteel. I loved staying there and wished my stay had been longer. I do hope to return one day. I would highly recommend staying here if you want some Southern hospitality. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Highlight of our trip

May 18th, 2018

This place is a gem! Albert Wall, the owner and Manager is one of the most delightful people I have ever met. The Inn is very charming and comfortable with wonderful beds and a well appointed bathroom. The house has many historical artifacts many of which have wonderful stories attached. The backyard patio is lovely with a wonderful porch overlooking it. The breakfast also had historical significance and was delicious. I am already looking forward to our next visit. The stay here was the highlight for both of us for our 12 day trip through the South. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
