Adequate but disappointing

Apr 15th, 2019

My wife and I spent a recent weekend at this Marriott Vacation Club property. We are familiar with MVC in Orlando and Hawaii; this Manhattan property is vastly different. Pro: 1. location on W. 37th St is convenient to both Penn Station and Grand Central. Multiple subway stops encourage a visitor to use the subway system to explore more of the city. 2. roof top bar is an exceptional amenity. Others have noted the view of the Empire State Building...it's true. 3. room décor is slick & modern, particularly the bathroom. 4. a nice social/happy hour is held in the lobby bar. 5. Staff were pleasant and helpful in guiding us to correct subway to get to our various destinations. 6. Price was much lower than other properties in the area. Con: 1. NY hotel rooms are notoriously small. Our room (2 Q beds) may not have been small by such standards. However, we found it awkwardly designed. Lighting was very bad; closet was laughably small; seating was bad, bad, bad. The bathroom, while small, was better organized. 2. The lobby is cramped and not very attractive...utilitarian, at best. 3. Two small and agonizingly slow elevators are insufficient to handle guests efficiently. 4. Interior hallways are dark, dirty and in definite need of freshening. 5. Street noise is incessant; yes, it's New York, but better windows might help. 6. Despite using cash, rather than MVC points, we received no housekeeping services. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Centrally located

Great place, wonderful people. Loved the roof top bar with the best view of the Empire State Building. They had a wine and cheese hour in lobby bar for owners which was perfect. Will definitely stay there again TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Weekend!

Apr 6th, 2019

As Vacation Club owner, we used Club Points for our three night stay. Friends joined us for a two night stay. Arrived early, on a red-eye and luckily one room was available. It was a handicapped room, but having early access was great. Staff was welcoming and engaging. The room was fine, as noted, small but that is expected in NYC, very comfortable. No tissues in the room. Made do in the bathroom with the shelving under the sink. We hung towels on the extra access bars in the bathroom. Great location. Close to everything. Easy access to subway. Our room was in the back so quiet. Our friends had a king room overlooking the Empire State Building and the street. Our group visited the roof top bar which was rocking on a Friday night. Wonderful stay overall. Photos show views from the two different rooms. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Location

Stayed in a King Size Room on 19th floor. The AC was LOUD ... however as we were out in the city the noise was outdone by our exhaustion. The roof top bar is nice enough ... probably not the 'go to' place to party but nice enough for a drink and a pretty decent view of the Empire State Building. The 'business centre' could be a little more sophisticated - its probably just good for very minor checking of emails and printing of boarding passes etc. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Nothing to complain about except for how loud the AC was in the room every time it came on. Usual Marriott esthetic though ... overall a comfortable stay to delve into the city. Great location

You can’t beat the location. Middle of Manhattan. Easy walk to Times Square, shopping, Grand Central Station and even Central Park (lower side). Rooms are small and not a Marriott vacation club resort with amenities like a lazy river, etc....,but this is NYC. The view of Empire State Building is wonderful and the staff is outstanding.
