Bummed to be taken advantage of during global pandemic

Mar 13th, 2020

We had to cancel our trip that we were so looking forward to ... our first vacation together ever was to the former Ikal Del Mar, now the Viceroy. Unfortunately because of the coronavirus pandemic and rapidly changing conditions, we were forced to cancel. We can’t risk not getting back home to our 4 kids or being quarantined, etc. the airline was accommodating and did not charge cancellation fees. However the hotel still charged us $1500. Very sad as that impacts being able to rebook during a safer time for travel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Romantic getaway

Mar 12th, 2020

We spent a week at the resort and loved every minute of it. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and they make you feel like you are the only two at the resort. Five Star experience+. The private plunge pool is a great way to relax in the privacy of your own space, the view from the gym is the jungle (I worked out for an hour and it seemed like 5 minutes), and the dining was amazing on the Carribean Sea. Amazing boutique hotel - fantastic experience

Mar 6th, 2020

A lovely boutique hotel with amazing personal yet professional service. Breakfast choices are amazing and all really enjoyable. No children under the age of 14. Villas of exceptional quality. Food at the two restaurants offer a range of choices, all with amazing service, although one more informal than the other. Location has a pool and extensive area with sun loungers as well as beach side day beds and loungers. Attentive staff with water provided free of charge as well as a few incidentals such as morning ‘popsicals’ of frozen fruits and afternoon mini sorbets. Two things to bear in mind... location is a long way away from Playa del Carmen, so realistically you are likely to eat on site every evening and secondly the wine list is very expensive (although good). Budget accordingly! Would love to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Return trip

Mar 4th, 2020

We had visited the resort under the Tides name. The new pool and restaurant areas are very nice. Great service while we were there. The only downside is the noise from the resort next door, but it didn't ruin the trip. We still had a great time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Paradise in Playa

Mar 3rd, 2020

The Viceroy in Playa is the absolute best! I have traveled the world and have never had better service in any resort ever. The staff is incredibly kind and competent. They anticipate your needs and provide perfect service. We have stayed 2 years in a row and have already booked for next year! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
