Great bar. Skip the spa.

Jan 20th, 2020

Came for moms 69th birthday. The bar and bar service were great. Kind folks who were very attentive. Best part of my visit tbh. The spa on the other hand was another story. Completely over priced for extremely average service. Save your money and your time. I paid $200 for the most average 35 minute massage I have ever had in my life that should have only cost $50. I arrived 20 minutes early, but the masseuse arrived 7 minutes past my start time. She dropped me off in the room and waited 5 minutes to come back. And she ended the massage early, walking around, cleaning up while I was still on the table. The result was that I paid $170 for a 35 minute massage. And they forced me to pay a $34 tip. Skip the overpriced spa and go to hand and stone or massage envy instead. But come back for drinks at the bar. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Short visit can’t wait to go back!

We were just in town for a single night but we can’t wait to go back for a longer stay, especially in the spring. Great service and amenities. We had a great late night meal in the bar and enjoyed a yummy farm to table breakfast in the morning. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

North Carolina Luxury

Dec 26th, 2019

Stayed here in July and August 2019 and would absolutely visit again. The staff was very kind and welcoming and the property itself is stunning. The pool is wonderful and made even more unique by the wooded lake surroundings. The food is fantastic and the rooms are spacious and relaxing. Highly recommend enhancing your stay with a trip to the spa - it is wonderful. Enjoy your stay at The Umstead! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Love this hotel

Easily the best hotel in the Research Triangle. We have stayed there many times and we love it. Great rooms, attentive staff, awesome food and beautiful art throughout. Also has a beautiful pool. The location is great if you like hiking. We take long walks in the Umstead Park which is only 5 minutes away. We always look foreword to visiting the area because we get to stay at this wonderful hotel. It always feels like a vacation. We highly recommend this hotel. A solid 5 stars!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quite superb - one of the best ever

Nov 20th, 2019

I've been fortuate enough in my business to stay in some of the world's great hotels mainly focussed aroung big cities. But having business in Raleigh Durham I was booked in to the Umstead and I have to say from start to finish of my three day stay I found it to be quite exceptionally spacious, luxurious, comfortable and friendly with great food, excellent room service and a terrific feel to the whole place. My room was huge but very comfortable. The tablet room organiser was (unlike some I've encountered)| intuitive and helpful. The lifts didn't take an age to arrive.. The Umstread is modern, the architecture is pleasing and the views from the rear of the hotel are of an attractive lake with a fountain and trees beyond. It's low rise and yet every room has a great view and a useable balcony. Enough already. You'll have gathered I thought this place was superb and if it's luxury and comfort you're looking for in this part of the world look no further. I'm coming back next time with my wife at my own expense. I know she'll love it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
