Our Wedding Hotel

Jul 4th, 2019

June 14th we eloped to Santa Barbara! While in the planning stages I initially booked the RC Bacara which was extremely expensive, luckily I came to my sense and cancelled that reservation and booked us at The Upham Hotel. This hotel and the grounds are SO darling we were SO thrilled I had cancelled the Bacara. The Upham is small, quiet, intimate, did I mention the fireplace? The snacks throughout the day, provided breakfast and ample free parking - (say what ! Pretty sure free parking is unheard of at most SB hotels) also just add to a lovely stay. Side note for early risers or those with insomnia, which I had during my stay, at 4am I ventured to the lobby - there is a sign that says Just Knock - I did and the night shift gentleman was happy to make a pot of coffee for me - that is personal touch !! Anyone who reviewed this hotel stating "old, tired" I have no idea what hotel they stayed at, The Upham was literally a perfect stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wow! What an amazing surprise! Everybody warned us that Santa Barbara’s hotel are super expensive and so when we got to pay that price we thought it will be a big disappointment , of course it turned up to be such an amazing stay! Prime location by the way! We highly recommend it ! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best hotel on our PCH vacation

Jun 18th, 2019

Stayed in 5 very nice hotels from Santa Cruz to LA via the PCH. This one was special. Well located, great setting, comfortable, nice staff. Our room was very comfy, breakfast was great and they serve wine and snacks for HH and milk and Oreos post-dinner. Would definitely recommend if you can fit it into your budget. Expected better

Our friends have been coming here for many years, and always mention it to us for a place to stay in SB. While the property itself is quaint and charming, our room (# 44) was not so great. There was a strong mildew smell upon entering, the carpet needs replacing, the filthy door mat on the porch needs to be thrown in the trash, and finally the bathroom door smashes against the nightstand every time it was opened....the furniture did not fit the room space. Don’t book this room until improvements are made. We did enjoy the included breakfast and cookies and milk at night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Memorable 34th In Charming #28

May 13th, 2019

My husband and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary at the beautiful Upham Hotel. You realize you are in a special place the moment you enter the main building, the Lincoln House. Although built in 1872 and the oldest continuously operating hotel in California, the Lincoln House exudes historic charm and elegance. The front desk staff are professional, courteous and obviously dedicated to ensuring your stay with them is enjoyable. We exited the original inn into an open grass courtyard surrounded by white Adirondack chairs, flowering and fountain gardens, and the guest cottages. Our #28 garden cottage was lovely and we were greeted with chilled champagne, chocolates and an anniversary card from the Upham staff wishing us a special day and stay. Our first impressions of the Upham Hotel could not have been better. The daily breakfast was served in the sunroom with thoughtful selections including homemade delicacies. We also enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese, and the evening milk and cookies, although I now crave Oreos every night. The Upham Hotel is within walking distance of wonderful restaurants (including the amazing Bouchon) and the quaint Louie’s Bistro is conveniently located on-property in the Lincoln House. The Upham Hotel is a treasure. The Upham Hotel staff wished us a special stay and they delivered on that wish with their attentive service and grand hospitality. I am thankful we stayed at the Upham Hotel during our visit to Santa Barbara. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
