Quaint Little Motel

The Good: Parking directly in front of room was nice. Beds were comfortable. Shower was hot and bathroom was clean. Breakfast buffet was very nice, decently priced and server/hostess was wonderful. The less than Good: Room was smaller than most. Slight musty/dog urine smell that only partially went away with using the room air conditioner. I saw dogs coming out of other rooms, so I assume the smell comes with the territory unless they have rooms they don’t allow dogs in? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I was visiting my brother and his wife, traveling from Bucks County, Pa. to the Northeast corner of Tennessee. I am beyond the days I would do this 580 mile trip in one day, so I searched for a place to stay, halfway, where there were no elevators or inner hallways. My lovely sister in law, the one I was visiting, told me she and my brother used to use Village Inn when they were driving up north to here, so I went to Trip Advisor and looked them up. Found out they had renovated, and their dining room was open for breakfast and lunch , which was all I needed. And yes, they were halfway. I booked them for both going down to Tennessee, and for a night when I made the return trip one week later. I must report that everyone I dealt with was super nice, super efficient and super helpful. The rooms were lovely, plenty large with nice furnishings. The bed was comfortable, the shower and tub were fine, the toiletries were terrific....great soaps, lotions and shampoos, and the microwave and refrigerator more than adequate. For me, the best part was the fact that it was amazingly quiet.....one could hear the proverbial pin drop. And oh yes, the breakfast buffet was terrific as well. Had a great conversation with the kind worker there, Mary, and between her and the good food, I was ready to tackle the last lap. I don’t know why there are terrible reviews here....this place was way more than adequate, it was outstanding. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
$120 charge I did not authorize

My son and his friend accidentally knocked over the TV in the room and cracked the screen. I authorized $300 to cover it - which at the time John Stone, the property manager said might be less. It was a 9 year old TV, and John Stone sent me a bill for the cost new in 2011, $399 plus estimated tax of $21. I replied that I authorized $300. John went ahead and charged my card an additional $121. I called him to confirm that he actually charged my card without authorization. He said he did. I said I would dispute it. He said "we'd come after you". For $121? He went on to state that they had the room out of service for 3 days, and he had to come in on his day off, implying that they would come after me for a lot more than $121. Wow. Intimidating guests and making unauthorized charges. I don't recommend the Village Inn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Crampy dark room in an industrial area. Cheap linens. Noisy air conditioning in a musty room. Upgraded bathroom with overwashed and cheap towels. Something smelled bad. Unhelpful desk person who couldn't suggest any nearby restaurant. If this is someone's "feels like home", I think that person(s) need to upgrade a bit. A real dive. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
More than adequate for an overnight stay

This place is close to I-81 but you don't hear any road noise. Room is small but fine for an overnight stay. Only complaint is that the sheets and towels could use an upgrade as they are a bit on the rough side. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
