Great service

Jun 14th, 2019

I am looking forward to my stay again at the bonaventure; service is great and although the rooms are small they seem bigger with the windows. I love the kind of 70s-80s retro vibe, and the swimming pool surrounded by skyscrapers. I am only giving 4 stars because they do seem pricey. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing

Jun 13th, 2019

I’m a fan of the Westin brand but this hotel is less than impressive. Check-in: Fast and flawless. Lobby: it must’ve been amazing in the 70s, but it could use a serious update, even with the limitations of glass/concrete dominance, there must be something that can be done to revive it. Rooms: Decent. Fabulous views. No USBs and other now-standard finishes. Bathrooms looks nice, updated, but quite a few towels were torn. When I got in, there was a plastic bag on the ground under the sink. It never got picked up???!!! Ewww. Services: Staff is friendly. Everything is overpriced. I ordered a drink by the pool, 40min later room service brought it in with 18% gratuity and $4.5 delivery fee. Revolving restaurant: the revolving part is cool, food and drinks are okay but way too overpriced. You’re in LA, plenty of great places within walking distance. Overall: For that rate, I’d pick a different hotel. Also, in the future, I won’t blindly choose Westin, and do some research first. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A maze

somewhat challenging to get around with not having elevators on every floor. took some time to get oriented. elevators a little dodgy in the yellow tower. on the terrace for lunch, far to hot !!!! and no cover for a fair skinned Irish girl like me that's dangerous territory. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great if you like smelling like cigarettes.

Jun 11th, 2019

I recently stayed here for 2 nights for business. It was my third visit to this hotel. The first visit was good - the room was clean, yet small. (No upgrades - but I am only gold elite.) During the second visit, the room smelled moldy/musty, but so did my friend's, so I didn't even complain for my one night stay. It was during a rainy stretch, and I figure some of that is to be expected in an older building. This most recent trip, my room smelled very strongly like cigarettes - especially the bathroom. It was if someone had just smoked a few packs in there over the course of several days. There is no way housekeeping didn't notice. It was so strong that it made my clothes smell. It was also giving me a headache. I had to run out to dinner, so I flipped the fan on (it was off). When I returned late at night and went to sleep, it was still very bad. I messaged the desk and was told I could switch rooms in the morning, no big deal. Just "come down when you are ready." So, in the morning, I packed up all of my things and went down only to be told that there were no rooms available and I could check back at 9. As I had to work, I asked if someone could call me when a room was available. I was told "sure." However, no rooms ever became available. No one even called with an update. Best yet - it was obvious no one cared. I know the hotel cannot help being sold out, but I was being left with the impression that there were rooms available or would soon be available. I eventually gave up and just went to the store and bought fabreze/air freshener and sprayed copious amounts all over the room and onto the shower curtains, carpet, and walls, etc. (You're welcome!) It did help at least mask the fact that I was sleeping in a literal ash tray. I went right from this trip to a Courtyard Marriott in Denver that was immaculate and literally a breath of fresh air. My friend stayed at the Sheraton Grand in LA on this trip, and it was very nice. I will stay there next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice stay

May 24th, 2019

We stayed here for several nights while attending a meeting at the convention center. It was a nice choice though about a mile walk both ways. This is an iconic property and I remember staying here about 30 years ago. The property was in very good condition and the service was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
