Pretty average place

Feb 26th, 2020

I was quite disappointed in the Westin, having previously stayed in the Hyatt which is fairly close. Rooms were ok, but the aircon was noisy and the carpet and decor a bit tired. The bathroom was quite small, and the over shower bath wasn't great, for heat or wetness! Check in was really poor, with no welcome, overview of facilities, to the point I even had to ask where the rooms were... Breakfast is really limited in choice, no cereals!!!! I'm here because I have to be, I think I'll book elsewhere next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Maintenance please

Feb 7th, 2020

The Westin stands out as a beautiful mid rise hotel in this suburban area. It has a good lobby and large conference and ball room spaces. But - the rooms are just not that great. Every time I stay here there’s a problem with the room. This time the toilet stopped working. Last time the electricity in the room went off. The hotel is always busy so it seems to take a lot of wear and needs more maintenance. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

security issues with a stranger walking in my room middle of the night

Jan 29th, 2020

I stayed in this hotel at least 15 times in the past months due to work location. It’s in the middle of nowhere but at least the restaurant next door is good. Expensive for the location and last time had a package fee of $5 for having amazon delivery. Biggest issue is their security. Last time I had someone walk into my room at 5am. Upon yelling the person left. I told the reception about it on checkout a few hours later and the only thing I got was ‘yeah heard about that, sorry’. Emailed Marriott about it too without response and after another follow up, and got an email weeks later with ‘won’t happen again’. Very reassuring. Avoiding the hotel now. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely Property, but...

Jan 13th, 2020

The Westin North Shore in Wheeling, Illinois is a well-run property. Rooms are well appointed, amenities are excellent, and staff is well-trained and friendly. All good, but they only have one house-owned food outlet, which is a coffee / snack shop. The excellent restaurant attached is not a WEstin/Marriott-owned operation, but is independent. THe vouchers you receive from the hotel for "Making a Green Choice" (no maid service) are only good in the coffee shop, and NOT in the actual restaurant. While parking is remote, it is manageable, and free, but the hotel should tell guests that the vouchers are not good in the Italian restaurant. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice Hotel with some exceptions

Jan 7th, 2020

The rooms are nice and the bathrooms modern, the Bed's are very good! The Starbucks and the offered food options in walking distance are nice. Hotel staff itself varies drastically. The Reception and Staff at Starbucks are welcoming and nice. The Breakfast service was very rude. We had vouchers for Breakfast or Brunch. Short before brunch started 10:00 AM on Sunday went in to take a seat. The seating service ignored me first and then very unfriendly checked the voucher and almost rude said "This voucher does not allow Brunch. And breakfast ends in 10 minutes so I want to ask you to leave". After checking why it says also "Brunch" as option she did not reply. Colleagues seemed to have same experience as they were even asked to get out because of other guests. Anyways afterwards we checked with the Counters and they confirmed it would have been included. This was a very frustrating experience having to leave without ANY breakfast as well as I felt very uncomftable beeing confronted so drastically in front of other guests. Have not experienced this before anywhere. This should be internally followed up. The rest as said on the hotel is very good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
