Marriott HQ you need to listen

Jul 21st, 2020

Westin is one of the high end properties of the Marriott chain. This hotel was one of my favorite as it is close to downtown, plethora of food options, etc. In recent few months the place went downhill pretty quick. The rooms are still nice and the front desk people are friendly but it stops at that. The hallways are dirty. Elevators are looking like Motel 6 elevators. The worst case is the clientele. The make up of the clientele changed so bad that there are half naked men/women walking around and screaming at 2 am in the morning. They don’t even know how to use the elevators. They play loud music, yell at each other and all kinds of indecent behavior. Catching a good nights sleep is impossible. It is such a shame this nice hotel turned into a party bus TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Less than stellar!

Jun 25th, 2020

Where to start? Expensive parking. The entrance off of Vine is filthy. Carpet looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in a week. The granite steps are grimy with what looks like a spilled drink of sorts from days ago. Unbelievable! No wash cloths in the room. No comforter or blanket on the bed, simply two sheets. There was a soap wrapper behind the bathroom door and some brown funk on the nightstand. Way to go housekeeping! Seriously?? When did Motel 6 and Westin merge? Everything in the hotel was closed at 9pm. Quite a disappointment for what should be a 4-star experience downtown. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Motel pretending to be a Westin property

Jun 21st, 2020

Set on 5th Street right in the center of town. The entrance on Vine Street is a lot more convenient to pull up to the hotel and drop someone off. Did not know this and ended up doing it the hard way on 5th street. The hotel did not think this important to share with me even when I called the hotel to ask about Parking options. There is no parking at the hotel, just really expensive parking downtown. Ended up finding a cheaper lot a few blocks away that I could prepay for.              Checkin was a disappointment. Not acknowledged for being a Titanium member. Could have been any Joe Schmo off the street. The Receptionist had zero personality. Usually at Marriott properties I am offered a choice between a welcome gift or points on my account. No such choice was even presented.              The elevators have signs on them saying (due to COVID) a limit of 2 guests. This was frequently violated by people not wearing masks throughout our time here.               I had received a 'confirmed upgrade' to a Fountain Square facing 'Suite' prior to check in. My wife and I got to the room and were not sure this was a 'suite'. I guess the pictures on the Marriott website were a lot more flattering. The room is larger than the average room, but certainly not anything worth writing home about.                The bathroom is well appointed but was surprised to see there was no Lotion provided. Turned on the TV only to get a 'No Signal' message!!! Call down to the front desk and they sent somebody up to the room to help clear up TV signal and get it going. I always had the impression that Westin hotels were among the 'high end' of Marriott properties. The Westin Cincinnati certainly dispelled that notion for me. Literally within an hour of checking in, this property managed to disappoint on numerous fronts.               It was quite a warm day (low 90s) and had the temperature set to 65F on the Thermostat. The room stayed way too warm to get some rest all the way to about 4am. Tossed and turned and sweated in bed for most of the night. The AC does not have enough juice to do a good job of cooling the room and making it comfortable. This with the curtains drawn for much of the evening. Lousy sleep quality.               Breakfast is restricted to what can be picked up at a store downstairs. They do have some hot items (Omelettes, Ham/Cheese sandwiches, Oatmeal etc.) that you can get, but practically everything has to go in a bag that you take to your room and eat. Not fun. New reality in COVID times. I felt sorry for the 2 employees they had working the breakfast area as things got real busy just after I was there.                Will most definitely be giving The Westin Cincinnati a miss if I am in the area next time. What a let down. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent accomodations amidst the pandemic

May 4th, 2020

Been here many times before.....however, these days, everything's changed. However, some points to be considered. Beds still as comfy, but the fitness facilities were closed. Thus, a climb up/down the stairwell was in order. Man, was it an eye-opener. There's trash and bio-waste, epecially on the lower floors. There was also the stench...which in and of itself, would render any emergency evacuation a hazard as well. Don't know if it's inspected annually as thoroughly as the code requires, but definitely needs some sprucing up. B/F was still available for take-out though, and was just as good. Love the Panini, and of course the coffee !! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

March work trip

Mar 17th, 2020

A very comfortable and clean hotel! Great location across from the Fountain Square and near many bars and restaurants. I had breakfast feom the hotel Ingredients Restaurant...good price and excellent friendly service from Felicia. Her smile and positive attitude were really nice during these difficult times in the world today. Thank you for the wonderful service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
