Not a regular Westin hotel

Aug 15th, 2019

I booked the Westin as a conference I was attending was being held here. Having stayed at a number.ber of Westin hotels I was expecting a better quality hotel than the Westin Crystal City. This property is minutes from National airport and is a short walk to the Crystal city metro so well located. Westin took this property over in 2014 and it really feels like a budget hotel rather than a full service hotel. Staff are welcoming but that cant make up for the fact that it's a small hotel with a small bar and restaurant that has a limited , and pricey menu. Rooms have been partially updated but are not large. Bathrooms are especially tight! Watch out if you're 6' + as the shower door will get you! Workspace in the rooms is limited to a tiny desk area, shared with the TV, just big enough for a laptop and no more! My room had a faulty door lock and had been for ed at sk.e stage and the damaged door jam had been painted over ( see pic). Carpets in the room are dark and well worn. Amenities are ok but mi e were not replaced regularly and I had to ask for new shower gel regularly. In room coffee and tea are a problem area as the coffee 'bags' provided are clearly for a larger machine with a pot. The machine in the room is a basic single cup toe so you have to scrunch the coffee bag up to fit it in the tray. Then the coffee is super strong since the coffee bag is not correct for the machine! I ended up buying small coffee 'one cups' from the 7-11 down the road for $10 rather than use the machine in the room! Lighting is ok around the hotel although the elevator cars are gloomy...i think the green energy folks have been in there and the light level is definitely low and its difficult to read the floor buttons especially elevator3! Overall the hotel is well located and the staff are pleasant. The hotel is ok but it's not really a full service hotel more a budget hotel with a basic breakfast and no elite lounge either! Ironically there is a cheaper full service Marriott right across the street that is also part of the 'Bonvoy' group that has been refurbished and has all of the usual benefits and amenities. Sorry to say that this hotel charges full service 4 star rates but delivers 'budget' facilities! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great experience, corteous and helpful staff, great value, great location, immaculate and well mantained

Aug 14th, 2019

I took a road trip from Florida to Washington DC and New York and first I stayed at this hotel with my family (wife and two sons) for 3 days and booked it through a third party. I was pleasantly surprised to see how professional and kind the staff is. My check-in experience was great thanks to ISMAEL (at the front desk) who was very professional, kind and helpful. The lobby, restaurant and guest rooms/bathrooms are very clean and well maintained, beds are comfortable and linens are in immaculate condition. We had dinner and breakfast everyday at the hotel restaurant and food was very good. We loved so much the experience at this hotel that on our way back from New York, we stayed again for one night. Aside from that, the area where the hotel is located at is very convenient and safe. I totally recommend this hotel, you won't be disappointed!!. And thanks again to Ismael and the rest of the staff; you really made a difference of excellence!. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Valet Damaged Vehicle

Aug 9th, 2019

When we arrived, we were excited about how great the front desk staff was with us & our kids, who had been traveling for several hours in a car. When we checked out, the valet parking had damaged our car. Both Yeison & Moe (the front desk manager & operations director) committed to get it resolved. After several phone calls with them saying we should hear back from their risk & insurance, they will no longer speak to us. This has taken 45 days and 18 different phone calls! If the management staff is unwilling to do the things that they themselves say, I will suggest to others and I, myself, will find another option to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great value, great location

Aug 8th, 2019

I recently stayed at this location and had a great time. Hotel is well kept and smells AMAAAAZING!!!! Bed is so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me!!! Rooms are modern and very cozy. Only thing that bothered me was that the staff was not welcoming. When I entered the hotel I was not greeted. As I was being checked in the front desk agent did not engage in any conversation with me. Nothing was explained about the area or the hotel at check in. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay

Jul 28th, 2019

We had a great stay at the Westin Crystal City. I used the app to check in, but my room was not ready when I arrived. The clerk offered me a drink at the bar while I waited for my room along with an upgraded room. I decided to go grab some food instead, so she took my number so she could give me a call once the room was ready. About 15 minute later the room was ready. The hotel is very nice. The room was spacious and clean. My room was on the 10 floor with a view of the city. You noise level was about normal for a hotel in the city. You can hear the traffic below but it is not too bad. The hotel is a short walk from the metro. The earliest train to the airport runs at 0545. Uber was $11.00 at 0500 in the morning. There is parking at the hotel. I would recommend this hotel!
