Consistently good but staffing could be better also you can see other guests naked in their room

Considering the very poor Marriott brands around the airport this is a very good hotel. They know it too because the prices are at least $75-$100 more than the Sheraton, Marriott, Four Points, Courtyard or Delta properties a few minutes away. You pay for the location and the higher quality amenities, furnishings and staffing level. For example, this is the ONLY Marriott-affiliated hotel at Detroit's airport with bellmen and valet parking, though frustratingly the bellman are stationed at the curbside entrance and not the front desk. The restaurant is good, but the prices are expensive even for an airport hotel. The service here is the weakest part of the hotel. It varies from very good to very poor. And for the prices I expect white tablecloths. At least fancy placemats that seem to be the trend. You don't even get complimentary dinner bread on a $160 dinner for two people. Really? Come on. My waitress told me I could have a slice of bread from the bread they serve at breakfast for free but if I wanted dinner bread I would have to pay $5. Come on. That's absurd. Like I said, this is a very good hotel. It's as good as anything downtown.. It's just a budget-buster, even for travelers on a corporate expense account. The F&B prices really need some adjustment. Even $2 on the glasses of wine and $5 on the entree prices would help. Or give elite status guests a discount. One more thing: They need to warn guests that the windows of atrium rooms are NOT blackened. You can see guests fully naked and engaging in sexual acts because most guests don't know this. Expedia...No accommodations from MGMT.

Booked 2 double beds...4 adults...wanted a roll away, gave us a king with pullout sofa and roll away...got to the room and no pull out sofa. The guy that checked us in knew we had 4 adults... So we were stuck with a king and a roll away for 4 adults. Called front desk...no rooms available... Actually told us we should have booked through them and not Expedia... Aunt slept on the cushion from the sofa on the floor!!!! They did give us extra sheets and an extra pillow...total $423. We should have got two rooms at an outside hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Cleanliness was a problem!

We stayed at the Westin for the second time in several months. The first stay was excellent, but this time, the cleanliness was a problem. The glasses in the bathroom were dusty, and the towels had hair on them--one of them actually had a matted lump on it! When I mentioned it to the front desk at check out, I was told the manager would reach out to me, but that has not happened. I also wish there had been a vanity kit because I forgot to bring Q-tips, and hotels generally have them available in a kit in the bathroom. The Westin is convenient, but I was very disappointed with the cleanliness this time around, especially for the price charged. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Super small beds management doesn't care

Spent a little more then I should have thinking it would be worth it. Checked in today July 5th had dinner and went up to our room . 2 very small beds . Thinking this shouldn’t be a problem seeing that it’s a Westin then I meet Vanessa. I explained the problem I had and she told me that she would be willing to charge me an upgrade for another room . I explained that we already over paid for our room and that I could have stayed at other hotels for a lot less just down the street and I wasn’t willing to pay anymore for another room she told me about the free parking with our room and I explained to her that other hotels also offer free parking with the room. If it wasn’t for my wife not wanting leave I would definitely go. ********. Don’t pay the extra for this property ********** TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Couldn't be more convenient for stranded travelers

Spent a night here after being stranded in Detroit by a delayed flight. It couldn't be more convenient, especially if you are in Terminal A: you can walk right into the lobby of the hotel from the concourse, near gate A36. The hotel is up to luxury standards: an impressive lobby with a pleasant restaurant, and a big, comfortable, well-appointed room that overlooks the hotel atrium. It is remarkably quiet--I was there until 10 am and would never have known I was at the terminal of a major airport! Probably the nicest touch, though, is that the hotel has its own security entrance back into the terminal. It's a small TSA checkpoint and you can only bring a carry-on with you, but it's incredibly convenient not to have to go back through the main security entrance. It's not a budget option, but the rate is about what you'd expect to pay at a Westin anywhere (maybe even a bit less) and there was no problem walking up to the desk at 10:30 pm and getting a room.
