If you are staying here I’m sure it’s for the convenience of a flight out of the airport. It was very convenient for that purpose. The lobby was clean. But it wasn’t our greatest (or worst) experience. We arrived late at night because we had been attending an event. I checked in through the app. The valet was the best part of Our experience. He was helpful. He told me that my key wouldn’t work until I was inside and also had connected to the WiFi. My husband dropped the car rental car off after dropping my kids and I at the hotel. It was very weird I’m sure it has to do with Coronavirus and being late at night but we did not see another person at all during our stay besides the valet. My husband had a problem that the return shuttle dropped him off a floor too low and he couldn’t get on the elevator because I had the app with key on my phone and you needed it to ride the elevator. It was very frustrating he tried downloading the app. I finally had to leave my kids alone ,get out of My pjs and go down so he could come up with me. I have no idea why my husband could sign into the app on his own phone but couldn’t get a key. Annoying. we left at 7:30 am and again there was no one at all in sight. None of the restaurants appeared to be open and we didn’t see a single employee. It was just weird. The room was fine but bland looking. We could see the planes but none took off during our time awake. The beds were fairly comfortable but if you plan to share with someone this double seemed on the small side. I was pretty surprised for a $200 a night hotel that they had the very lowest quality toilet paper and Kleenex. They offered no extras like cotton balls or things I’ve come to expect at this price point. Would we stay again? If we had another early morning flight probably but I can’t see doing it for any other reason. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quality has slipped

Jul 13th, 2020

I stayed here the night before an early flight out of DTW, after completing a day of business in the Detroit area. I was looking forward to my stay; I've previously had very good experiences at this property and consider it among the nicer attached-to-airport hotels in the USA. My check-in experience was suboptimal; there was a long line and only one person working. That person was very welcoming and was doing a good job, but in a large airport hotel, I was surprised additional staff were not present at the front desk during a fairly standard check-in rush. Since my previous visit, the decor had been updated. It's good to see a hotel keeping pace with renovations, but I have to say: it was one of the uglier hotel rooms I've visited in some time. The wallpaper has a dizzying pattern reminiscent of the 1970s; same for the couch. Everything was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Where the major disappointment came was room service. Around 8pm, I ordered a salad and sandwich. The room service prices were expensive, as I have come to expect with airport hotels. I was told my order would be ready in about 30 min. After 45 min., I called because it had not arrived. The food took 60 min. to arrive and, when it did, there was no salad dressing or silverware to eat it with; this took another phone call and 10 more minutes to resolve. Staff were not rude; they were also not apologetic. Perhaps they just think their audience is captive when it comes to food, given the location, but it was frustrating to pay room service prices and encounter the long delay and lack of silverware. Overall, fine, but left disappointed with the experience (in particular, service). You are paying for location with this hotel; due to it being attached to the airport (which is, admittedly, convenient), it is routinely much more expensive than other properties surrounding DTW. This time, the service did not justify the price, even if the accommodations themselves were suitable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great way to start a vacation!

We have the option of flying out of 3 airports - Toronto, Buffalo or Detroit. Since finding this gem, I have been leaning more and more towards flying out of Detroit. The hotel is clean and well-appointed. The staff are very friendly and check-in is quick and efficient. We love the option of being able to obtain a pass to enter the airport to eat dinner. We stayed at this hotel before and after our trip to New Orleans. On our stay after our trip, we were disappointed that we arrived back late and our only option was to eat at the hotel. We shouldn't have been disappointed! The food was excellent and the service was warm and friendly. The price was a little high, but we were in an airport. This is a much pricier option compared to other airport hotels in the area, but it's worth it to us just for the convenience of being able to drop our car off with the valet and not having to fuss with a hotel shuttle. It also gives us the ability to sleep in a little, which is nice when you have an early morning flight. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location

Flight was cancelled so Delta put me up here. It was very nice and up to my normal standards. Comfy bed, pricey but good room service and very convenient location within airport. Would definitely stay again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable and Convenient

Mar 25th, 2020

We had a reasonably early flight on Delta, so it was convenient for us to stay here overnight. We had a great dinner at the hotel but chose to eat breakfast at the airport prior to our flight (& after checking in). We felt safe and comfortable and the convenience was definitely great.
