Great stay

Choose this stay because of its proximity to a conference at the Shaw Convention Centre--just a short walk to a downtown building and then you go underground to the convention centre. Room is modern with all ammenities and effective room darkening blinds. The pool and weight room are in the third floor and are all one needs to get a work out in--plus a complimentary apple :) Impressed by the number of staff working at this hotel, registering guests, welcoming at the door, keeping the building spotless... A fantastic experience. Great selection of side dishes and the steaks are to die for. Excited to know that their focus is on locally grown and locally made products. Would recommend for any special occasion TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Always enjoy my time at the Westin

Oct 28th, 2019

It would be nice to have access to the stairs when there are big conventions so the wait for elevators is not over 30 minutes. Otherwise I always have a wonderful and comfortable stay! The rooms are so clean and comfortable! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Under construction - several issues on 3rd floor!

Oct 20th, 2019

When booking at Westin hotels, one expects a minimum of standards, like a functional heater in your room, hot water for a shower and shave and good service. Well, if you are like me and expect this at this hotel, book somewhere else. I am a seasoned business traveler and understand some things can go wrong during one’s stay at a hotel. However, upon arrival at 7:30 pm I had to get someone to come and fix a “jackhammer “ like noise coming out of the hotel room heater. After a lengthy change of the heater motor, I decide to take a shower but there is no hot water and the shower faucet is leaking profusely. I figure, something is wrong but I’m too tired to deal with this so off to bed I go after a lengthy day of travels from Eastern Canada. I wake up the next morning to find out there is still no hot water! On my way to work, I make a complaint to the hotel reception, I speak to 3 people and am told they will get back to me. Then I get back late pm from work to now be told there is an emergency and I need to be moved rooms (I found out from hotel staff that other guests had the same hot water issues on that floor due to ongoing construction!) While these events may have been accidental, why were clients given rooms on a floor with ongoing construction? You may have noticed on the Westin Edmonton hotel website that they say there is ongoing construction going on but what they omit to tell you that the pool, gym are not operational and rooms on particular floors are non-functional. Note: all of these issues occurred over a 3 night (4 days) stay here... as an Internationally known hotel, this is unacceptable. Interestingly, someone from the hotel public relations dept., reached out to me only after I posted my dissatisfaction on Twitter. As consumers, we have the right to be treated fairly (especially when we pay over $185 a night) and this is why I am sharing this story.. bon voyage everyone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
