Off the strip, but still full of COVIDiots--be careful

We spent seven hours at this hotel arriving very late on a Friday night and departing early in the morning. Self parking wasn't too bad and at least it was free. Check-in was pretty slow as only one terminal was staffed and there was a (socially distanced) queue of people. Our sleep was pretty good except the beds were a little soft. Bedside reading lamps were very good and didn't distract our family members in the other queen bed. The pool, which was closed at the time, looked great from our window. The bathroom amenities are the typical White Tea Aloe fare for Westin hotels. Wish there were a couple more convenient outlets for phone charging. The difficult thing though was that mask compliance was only about 50% and there really wasn't enough staff around to monitor or warn people. Public postings asking for mask-wearing compliance were limited. So we felt pretty unsafe here, particularly relative to other not-as-nice hotels in Las Vegas which had better protocol. Would be interested in coming back when COVID is over, but for now--be forwarned. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Ghost of it's former glory...
Nov 23rd, 2020
We have a friend in the Village & come often to Lake Las Vegas, but usually stay elsewhere... this time we thought we'd try the Westin. I am a Convoy member & booked thru the site & checked in via app. Was expected a Moroccan them, and I knew that with COVID, many things would, of course, not be on offer. I did NOT expect this place to be so... EMPTY when we pulled up to get our "junior suite" on a Sunday evening. We were quite happy it was ready a bit early, and happy it was on the main floor and NO elevator's & that was when the enjoyment ended. The "suite, is a misnomer - it is really just a room with a king bed tucked away in a partitioned off alcove - seriously? NOT a SUITE! ONE TV - that swivels. It did have a window that looked out toward the lake. We drug our stuff in - we had a lot as we had been on the road a week - I believe they had no more valets or bell service, but no totally sure - no one said anything re that service. Parking lot was very empty. We cleaned when we got in & I noticed, high up above the desk, a yellow piece of paper, taped to the wall. I though it odd, the maid missed it, took a cell-pic off it - but as it was up high, did not seem bothered by it. We settled in. The night-stands were so small, I had to remove the phone to have room to put my stuff on them. Bed was fine, bathroom ok, fridge & coffee set-up ok. Hotel quiet - cuz empty. We asked and checked on food - NO DICE. some outlets are closed now - the others are inside only & for us that is a "NO GO" in COVID times. They have a beautiful lakefront patio & we inquired if we could get bar-food to take out there - they said "NO"... so we left & ate a $100+ dinner at the Hilton on their balcony with our friend, instead. We did try the Westin's coffee bar - NO pastries, just Rice Crispy treats & over-priced coffee & a latte - it was $16 bucks!! not good. The morning of check-out (second day) my spouse says to me, what did the maid leave that there? I said - "you mean the yellow paper"? Him "No - the Xmas decor" That was when it dawned on me that the large Xmas Garland hanging across the Large picture above the sofa, WAS from another guest!! And now I am freaking. Take another picture. Check out at 6:30 & speak to the front-desk guy - show him BOTH pics. He is NOT nice. Seems to think it is MY fault - I thought it was Xmas decor from the hotel, but he seems to think that I should have tweaked to it sooner & asked for a room change so they could have blamed or fired the maid who screwed up! After much discussion he agrees to remove my "resort fees of over $60 bucks (which are totally ridiculous right now - I told you the restaurants are a no go, the pool is too cold, no service available - so what is there to "resort"??) We left & when I came home I reached out to hotel management - which was difficult - but after several tries, I did get through & forward them my pictures & they got back to me & agreed it NEVER should have happened (I mean maybe she didn't even change the sheets!) - So they gave me some Bonvoy points. But I think we will probably go back to the Hilton for future Lake Las Vegas stays... really we expected better - if the hotel was only at 10% - why not upgrade us in the first place? And after what I showed you, are points the best u can do? I am weary of corporations doing a bad job in the pandemic - if you want us to come back - you need to step up & this doesn't cut it people. Nice place away from the city | Dog friendly
Nov 4th, 2020
Decided to stay here for two nights before heading home and it was nice. The place was so serene and quiet and so peaceful. Love it. This place is also dog friendly, so I would definitely suggest this place if you’re a furr parent. Unfortunately, some parts of the hotel is closed like the lake and the other pool but the other pool that is open is still big enough for everyone to share! 👍🏻 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We did a 7800 mile road trip through 18 states and our No. 1 night was at the Westin. It had everything we wanted or needed. The views of the lake, golf course, mountains and swimming pool were spectacular. Our room was first class. And the lounge/restaurants on property were excellent. I will definitely return here any time I am in the Las Vegas area! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My husband, dog and I stayed at the Westin Lake Las Vegas for 40 nights on business. I cannot speak more highly of the staff! Huge thanks to Eric, James and Derrick for always giving us a friendly greeting at the door. They gave us recommendations for restaurants, activities and any other questions we had about the area. Monica in housekeeping went above and beyond by bringing all the toiletries, towels and bedding we needed. Since we were there for several weeks and I didn’t want housekeeping services (Covid precautions). She even brought a vacuum I kept in the room during the duration of the stay. Taylor at the pool/bar was so sweet and so fun to talk to! I know he had to be busy but Carlos in maintenance would always take the time to say hi and we’d talk about our love for dogs and family. I believe I only saw one man working on landscaping and every day he worked meticulously and kept the grounds, flowers, and bushes kept beautifully. Lastly, the 2 security guards were always around and lucky for us, found my husbands phone when he left it on the patio one night. Your staff at the Westin made our nearly 6 weeks away from home feel like a home away from home. We hope to visit again and see the same friendly faces again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
