Amazing, relaxing and picturesque. We visited Maui several years ago (not 2019). The resort was newly built and we had our own mini apartment with a balcony and a spacious bedroom. The beach was beautifully clean and although it was the season for surfers, the sea was fairly rough with large abundant crashing waves, we still had an amazing time. It was a truly heavenly experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful January Stay

Jul 25th, 2020

We stayed in January for 1 week and we had a wonderful experience. We stayed in an executive suite on on the top floor facing the ocean. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. We loved coming "home" to the waterfall in the lobby. Our room was great, it was lovely to have 2 balconies and plenty of room inside. Loved the ample closet space. The beds were comfortable, and the couch was nice. The view was spectacular (we're going to miss it!) The breakfast buffet was really good, they change it up everyday so it doesn't feel the same all week. We had some great food and drinks at the bar by the pool bar. The resort called us saying we had a gift from the concierge, and when we went to pick it up, they asked about if we needed any recommendations for activities or food, and they gave us a map. They asked if we wanted to do an update and we declined, they said no problem and we were on our way, they were not pushy AT ALL which was really great. The staff there is awesome. The spa where you get massages was super accommodating, and accepted a reservation same day. Since the hotel is under construction, they were temporarily located in guest rooms made up nicely for the spa. Great massage, very serene. They were under construction but we didn't even notice it, made no difference to us. No noise. The pools were awesome, and didn't realize there was a hidden grotto with a hot tub until a few days in! Loved it, truly felt like paradise. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Paradise in Paradise

Jul 15th, 2020

What a hotel! They had renovation happening and notified us of it, but it NEVER hindered a minute of our stay. Warm and friendly staff at check in made us feel welcome. The food was wonderful and the buffet breakfast was terrific. We were guests right in the middle of the pandemic and when they had to stop the buffet service, they managed a great served breakfast in the restaurant. The views from the rooms were stunning. The multiple pools for family and those adult only areas were just great. EASY to walk from the hotel to the little village where there were multiple restaurants. Christmas Week Stay

May 5th, 2020

The hotel had just completed renovations and everything was brand new, nice, and super clean. We had a great stay- good service, huge and nice room, and have no complaints. The pool was extremely busy so lounges were hard to come by but it was christmas week so that feels understandable. Excellent food, many options, great concierge service, great entertainment, etc... would highly reccomend TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location!!!

Apr 28th, 2020

The Westin is currently ranked #27 out of 31 hotels in Lahiana and while I haven't stayed at any others, that seems like a super low rating. It was one of the cheapest places we found while still having a truly excellent location - our hotel was the closest to Whalers Village, making it convenient to get everywhere. We wanted to specifically relax while on this vacation so being located near the middle made it easy. We walked from one end of the boardwalk (Hyatt to the South) to the other (Spa at Black Rock to the North) and it's not a short walk. Every staff member we interacted with was really pleasant and helpful, especially the check-in desk. They do provide a little 'goodbye present' on the day you checkout but it's just an invitation to a timeshare-type thing - it's not a presentation or anything and it honestly sounded like a pretty good deal (when I got there, someone was signing up for it) but we don't usually make decisions on the fly like that. Now for the cons, because there were still a few, despite how beautiful this resort was! The entrance area to the hotel, while absolutely beautiful, leaves you feeling so upbeat and then you have to walk to your room and the hallway is ugly. 2 days before we left, they were starting to replace the carpet on the 2nd floor so maybe it's gotten better but the carpet was horrible - every couple feet, there would be a huge wrinkle. The adult-only pool bar didn't open until 11am. We're from the west coast so our body's clock wasn't horrible but it sounds like a lot of people were from the east coast and were up way earlier than us, wanting drinks and snacks. We were usually to the pool around 8am so waiting all that time to get drinks kinda sucked. Seems like they are losing a lot of money that way. Also, with the adult-only pool, the website made it sound like it was a swim-up bar and that is 100% not the case. I was quite disappointed as that was something I was looking for. In addition, we wanted to rent cabanas to relax in. I had called in the weeks prior after searching online everywhere but they said they didn't have an updated map and it would just be easier to book in person and that everything was available. When we arrived, we walked around and took note of our favorite cabanas and when we inquired, those ones were all booked up until after we left. The other options didn't seem all that great - you were either in sun a majority of the day or shade a majority. We never ended up renting any cabanas and that way, we didn't feel tied down to it all day. The first morning, we decided to get breakfast at the hotel breakfast bar. It was $33/ea + taxes + tip for breakfast so super expensive (but they had a waffle bar, omelette bar, fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, sausage, potatoes, bacon, tofu, salmon, etc). We got breakfast elsewhere after that. Speaking of breakfast, we wanted to go to Lahaina and go to this cool breakfast place we had heard of. On the hotel's website, they speak of having a shuttle but give no additional information. When you check-in, they provide a shuttle schedule and the first shuttle going to Lahaina didn't even leave until 10:20am. We barely looked at it after that and ordered an uber to get to Lahaina instead. The last irritation was that we spent 4 days lounging by the pool to some degree or another. We would keep our towels and trade them in the next day to get fresh ones. The first day, they gave us paper bracelets, which we put on. We didn't see many people wearing them. The next day, no bracelets offered. Third day, bracelets, which we didn't put on. Fourth day, no bracelets offered. We weren't sure of their method and it was just annoying. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
