In Chicago few times a year

Westin Michigan Ave never disappoints. Great treatment even before they know my elite status. Smiles throughout. Hotel nicely placed in the city. Front desk staff very friendly, helpful, & accommodating. Rooms are spotless. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Good September Business Stay

Apr 20th, 2019

In September, we flew back to the USA from London, for meetings in Chicago, before heading home to Phoenix. We stayed at the Westin Chicago North Michigan Ave, (address is 909 N Michigan Ave, but the hotel’s entrance is on E Delaware Pl) for the second time. We arrived in the afternoon, and were quickly checked into Room 1945, which was very similar to Room 1939, which we occupied previously. I am not sure if we received an upgrade, due to our Marriott Platinum status, as none was mentioned at check-in. It had a very comfortable King bed, a small “sitting area,” with a love seat, and then a cabinet unit, with a small desk attached. That cabinet unit had drawers, and a small refrigerator, plus a large, flat-screen TV atop it. It also contained a coffee maker, with stocked coffee caddy. The bathroom had a combo tub/shower, and a single sink, but within a large vanity, so one had horizontal space. The shower head was one of the “rainfall” types, but pressure and hot water were good. The bathroom was stocked with the usual amenities, and of the Westin Heavenly Spa, white tea aloe brand, which have proved to be nice. One addition, which I am now seeing more often was the lavender, calming spray, to be applied to the pillows. Our room had an adequate closet, with bathrobes, an iron, ironing board, and a safe. Unfortunately, the safe was one of the vertical units, which makes it difficult to store laptops, iPads, etc, and care must be taken, when opening them, so that items do not fall out. The room had good lighting, and we had a very quiet AC/heating unit, with one thermostat. Now, the room was very hot, when we arrived, but cooled nicely, while we were at dinner in the lobby. We had a combination alarm clock and charging station, with both AC and USB connectors. There was an Ethernet connection, but I did not use it. The same for the free WiFi, in that I used my MiFi hotspot, so cannot comment on the connection speed. Our view was to the North, and we had a partial view (between near-by buildings) of Lake Michigan and Oak St Beach. Our previous room had a bit wider view of Oak St Beach. We had access to the Lounge (perhaps because of our Marriott status?), which was very nice, albeit small, but with a nice view up Michigan Ave. The Lounge has a nice little “business center,” and then there are computers by the Concierge desk, in the lobby. The hotel’s location is excellent, with so very much within walking distance: Magnificent Mile shopping on N Michigan Ave, Water Tower Place, the historic Water Tower, Lake Shore Park, and good proximity to the Loop. I even walked to Millennium Park one day. In our case, it was also only a block from where my wife’s meetings were, so doubly convenient. During our stay, we dined at the Grill on the Alley, for both one dinner, and then lunch, plus visited its bar one evening. It is located immediately off of the lobby. It was far better on this visit, than our previous one. Every interaction we had with staff was very good, and especially in the Lounge. Each person was cheerful, and very accommodating for all of our needs. In all, a very good stay, and due to proximity to my wife’s meetings, it is likely that we will stay again, and probably soon, as we are now in Chicago every month, or more. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

ALTHOUGH A GOOD LOCATION OUR STAY HERE WAS EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING

Apr 17th, 2019

I've actually tried to contact Marriott customer service via email...cannot find details anywhere on internet.... The best part of our stay was the concierge Kira, who was brilliant booked tickets, gave us information etc. We stayed for 5 nights, had to ask at reception for tea bags and toiletries, they told us to ring housekeeping, we then got a plastic bag filled with shampoo and conditioner and 4 teabags. During the 6 days of our stay our room was cleaned once, so towels bedding, no teabags/coffee replenished.Even though as we left our room they were doing the room next to ours.... We talked to reception and were given 5000 points for our troubles...Our stay here was the end of a 20 day trip around the USA and we had previously stayed at Marriott Saint hotel in New Orleans, standard there was the opposite of our visit here in Chicago, brilliant. Although we received 5000 points for our 6 days of trouble, .....we didn't receive any points for our stay in New Orleans or Chicago as they say its because we booked our trip with a third party....BUT on arrival were told at both hotels that they would be adjusting our points....This has happened to us now a few times in UK and USA so don't really see the point anymore of choosing the Marriott chain if no benefits. My apologies for this boring review but wouldn't put this here if Marriott customer service email or chat line was available. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place

Apr 16th, 2019

We stayed here for the weekend and everything was very nice. No complaints about this place. The service is nice and helpful. I loved the decor of the rooms. Check in is at 12 pm which is nice because other hotels are 11am. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location, but old and rooms with very poor sound insulation

Apr 14th, 2019

Good location, but that is the only good thing about this hotel For the price, it is very old, and is in need of a proper renovation. Had very poor sound insulation, could hear every single word from the room next door, and i couldn't get any sleep over the days of stay, because the room next door was sooooo noisy .The staff didn't seem to care when i feedbacked to them about this issue. Will not recommend to stay if you are a light sleeper TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
