Really disappointed

Jan 20th, 2020

I am a Vistana owner. Recently returned from a long weekend at this property. REALLY disappointed. How this property can be a Marriott category 6 is beyond me. Entire property and our villa was tired, sad, dated and dinged-up. The entire place needs a modernization and overhaul. Was in a large 1 BR villa - a 4 cup coffee maker? A villa this size needs a full sized coffee maker. Lighting in entire villa was awful. The bathroom was so dark . I don't know how Westin could think any woman could put make-up on. Yellowish shade in dining area fixture which cast a sad, juandiced glow to the whole room. NO HAIR DRYER! Hair dryers are standard equipment in the most basic hotels, much less a cat 6. There was a bug in the bed which did not make it "heavenly". Additionally, when I stay at other Vistana properties I get contacted by the concierge in advance asking if I need assistance setting up any of my vacation plans. None of that at this property. Made me feel unwelcome and unappreciated as an owner. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Heavenly Stay

Jan 8th, 2020

We are owners at the Westin St. John. We have stayed at the Westin Mission Hills several times. Each time is great. The two things we must have are the pools and the heave!y bed. Both of those things are great. It was quiet during our stay that made it very relaxing! Exactly what's needed for a break. We live in Oregon so going to the desert is a treat. Can't wait to go back. This Westin will definitively be a option. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

New Year's get away

Jan 3rd, 2020

We just recently visited Palm Springs and stayed at the Westin Mission Hills Villas. The place was excellent, good room, much better than what I expected. We had a one bedroom villa on the upper level. The bed was definitely heavenly, though the sofa bed could be better. My kids slept on the sofa bed and were uncomfortable - sofa beds should have heavenly mattresses as well. The kitchenette was good - enough for the 4 of us. The pools were good - though it was a little chilly in Palm Springs and the water was a little cold. The facilities were great - specially being able to use the facilities on the Westin hotel side in addition to the Villa side. The video games parlor at the hotel was being improved so my kids did not get an video games (works for me) - we instead ended up playing badminton, ping pong and billiards (which was great). The restaurants were good, however there was only one party for New Years at the Hotel side and nothing earlier for the kids to enjoy. They had kids club which would take care for the kids from 9:30 to 12:30 on New Years Eve which was good, however some families want to spend New Years together - they could have had a small show, smores party or family hot chocolate party at 9 pm for people with families (young kids do need to sleep earlier than 12:30 even on New Years Eve) - hence they lost one point in the review. Overall a great place and we had the best time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice but not fancy and doesn’t feel really special

Dec 31st, 2019

We are staying in a queen condo suite - which means we have a small 1 bedroom with a queen bed and a separate small kitchenette living area. Pros: - it’s nice, there’s a lagoon outside for something nice to look it - staff are nice - shuttle drivers are cool (especially the young guy with the beard - he was super informative and interesting) - shuttle takes you to the hotel - free mini golf, putting practice and driving range practice at the hotel - nice pool Cons: - our room is unexpectedly small - the 1 bedroom queens are tucked in so it feels dark (maybe good in the summer?) - its dated and needs an upgrade everywhere - doesn’t have that feeling of being somewhere really special - the staff were nice but not extra special either - even though there was room they wouldn’t upgrade us (we were willing to pay) - rude! So that set the tone for the week unfortunately catch up - pool is not as big as it looks in the picture - golf green is only green in the fairways (brown otherwise) & I understand why but don’t be fooled - don’t understand why the bathroom is bigger than our room! Wasted space I think we were expecting this to feel more like a 4/5 star resort and it honestly feels like a 2-story motel. If things change will update this post. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
