Ask for Angela
Feb 17th, 2021
I surprised my girlfriend with this romantic getaway on Valentine's day. Typical me, didn't exactly make these plans far in advance. I knew the hotel would be gorgeous, but I wasn't too certain about the details. Somehow, I snagged a reservation. The stars really aligned however, when Angela answered the phone. Angela helped me with every detail. She went above and beyond to double and triple check everything that I wanted to plan. She made suggestions where I needed them. She was always there if needed. Any question I had was answered immediately and if not, she emailed me the answer after she found it. Most importantly, her kindness and authenticity made this the best experience. We felt that Angela genuinely cared about our vacation. Angela is an employee who should be truly valued and supported. She has innate qualities that make this resort lucky to have her. Yes, we recommend this resort! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The location is pretty swell... The gondola is like right there. The village is right there... Literally descend the stairs and bam... Food and fun. The property itself is really nice and modern. As soon as you walk in you feel the Westin charm. The rooms are not that big but they are comfortable. The beds are Westin beds. You'll appreciate that after a day on the slopes. The restaurant in house is pricey but delicious. Overall the staff is great, the property is clean and modern, and you will enjoy every minute of your stay TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Zero innovation in middle of year long pandemic
Feb 11th, 2021
Have you ever left a hotel feeling ripped off? It is such a violating feeling. I excepted a little more from this hotel after spending around $1,200 for a two night stay. Let me start with the positives. Location can not be beat - short walk to the village and gondola to head up to warming hut. Also nice views looking out at the town and surrounding mountains. I can' think of much else. What I like least about the hotel is the very dated, chunky furniture which left very little room to move around the cramped quarters. They have this huge dinning table with 4 chairs which almost takes upon 1/2 the space in the living room. The sofa on the other hand is barely big enough to fit two adults comfortably -- the sofa is literally a torture chamber - its impossible to find a comfortable position and the cushions slop so you feel like your are constantly about the fall off on the the floor. The bed is comfy - although there is very little airflow and the bedroom becomes a hot box. In middle of the night, I finally got up and open the door to the balcony. Then in around 6 am, the room got so chilled I had to get up to shut the door. Needless to say, I didn't get great rest. The hotel is following all COVID precautions to the n'th degree. No room service, no valet service, no Jacuzzi, no lobby activity, empty restaurant and bar - this isn't the hotels fault, although it seems like they should drop the rate as they supply next to no services. COVID makes the place feel like a prison and they are charging full room rate as if the guest experience has not been interrupted. Here is the rub; we all understand it's a pandemic and it's important to follow regulations to keep guest safe, however, one silver lining of the pandemic is to observe how business innovate and adapt. Off the top of my head, here are a few things the hotel could do to make the pandemic experience more pleasant. Maybe don't drop off towels in a garbage bag - how about making a nice basket of towels with a flower, or small treat, or nice daily note. Maybe outside they could set ups a social distanced area for the guest with heat lamps or fire pit. They could get a vintage food truck to offer craft cocktails. They could set up few yurts for families with blankets. They could give out pre-made hot chocolate in the evening or mornings. I could go on and on... Clearly they management is so preoccupied by health regulations that they can't see beyond rules and regulations to curate a COVID safe experience. Otherwise... maybe they should drop their rates as they are only providing bed basically in a very dated hotel. It was all just so depressing. I offer this review to give others pause when booking - just realize it is very bare bones and not one moment will you forget about this horrible pandemic. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Westin Monache the best place to stay in Mammoth!
Feb 9th, 2021
Always an amazing experience, and have great staff like Kelly! Great location, ski in and out from gondola, just steps to the village, awesome pool/spa and dog friendly. I love this place and always stay here every time I’m in Mammoth! Love White Bark happy hours and great atmosphere. The Westin never disappoints! Love how we can rent skis from ski shop, get lift tiks, and all questions answered in one place. Hot chocolate, champagne and easy parking! Fantastic and professional front desk staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home and a happy guest!!!! Thank you!! Katherine and Peter B. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Have been going for years but this last trip was the last straw
Feb 5th, 2021
We love Mammoth and make multiple trips a year. We've been staying at the Westin for years however the cleanliness has always been an issue for me. I've tried telling the hotel because the convenience of its location and pet friendliness make it a huge draw. So when possible, we've been staying at rentals in the village. We came back to the Westin for the first time this season this week and the state of the room was so terrible that we ended up leaving a night early. There was an odor on the third floor the moment we stepped off the elevator and the room itself had this terrible smell I can't even describe. Our dog ended up smelling as a consequence. I felt fear if I dropped anything on the floor and when I wiped down drawers and the bathroom floor it was clear they had not been thoroughly cleaned. Also, many of the guests came out of the elevators not wearing masks. I realize this is not the hotels fault as they cannot make sure every guest is wearing their masks in the elevator but it is yet another reason why we will not be back. We've always appreciated the convenience, kitchenette, and pet friendliness as well as the kindness of the employees and complimentary sparkling wine, hot cocoa, and coffee. However, especially during Covid, because of the cleanliness we will not be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
