Worst stay of my life (very traumatizing). Stay away if you need to sleep!

Oct 20th, 2019

I am a frequent business traveler and spend much of my life in hotels. I always carry earplugs but this time they were simply insufficient. This stay was by far one of the worst and most traumatic stays of my life. While the staff is very nice and the rooms are fully renovated and very clean, the walls are paper thin and the inside noise travels through multiple floors. Even water being flushed from upstairs gets very loud. Let alone doors slamming every 5 min and teenagers running from elevators to their rooms giggling. Even though I was told there were a volleyball tournament and that might be the reason for the shenanigans, they did not stop after the said “kids” checked out. Feels like the building is made of wood frame without acoustic insulation inside the walls. A door being slammed far away has its loud noise carried tens of meters and sounds like the louse is inside the room. You can clearly hear the next door neighbors using their coffee maker or hanging their clothes. I spent three nights and had an aggregate amount of sleep that did not exceed 2 hours among all three days. I raised this up to staff and they were very sympathetic, and even moved me to a different room. But it didn’t help. Considering the price of this hotel, this is a huge slap on the face and an insult. As I said before, I am a very regular business traveler and I can’t recall any experience remotely as bad as this one. Perhaps if you travelling just to party very hard, your experience may be better. But, if you need to sleep, stay away! It was a very traumatizing experience and I hope never to have to come back to Halifax. 3 days with zero sleep being startled every 5 min was a truly unique experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great staff!

Oct 20th, 2019

I only stayed one night but I experienced great service from multiple members of staff. Nothing was too much trouble! Shout out to Brogdan (maybe incorrect spelling?) who works at the buffet he was so sweet! Also Tracy I think it is who does room service etc. What an absolute doll! I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best in Halifax

Oct 19th, 2019

This is my first visit to Halifax, a beautiful city, especially the Immigration Museum, it’s worth visiting. I stayed 2 nights in Westin Nova Scotian & I love to share with my fellow travelers my experience: 1. First Impression: very welcoming, thanks to Mr Lee at the main door and valet parking. Despite the renovation, Mr Lee made our entry more fun and easy. 2. Staff- (a) Front Office Staff- very helpful responsive and swift thanks to their FO Manager Mr. Michael. (b) Food&Beverage Staff- very well trained, hospitable and smiley. (c) Housekeeping Staff- Below expectation and should be get better training and quality check 3- Food- I tried the Breakfast, despite the limited buffet but it was delicious & the ambience is very comfy. 4- Rooms - Spacious and the Seaview one are incredible. 5. Location- very convenient and close to the museum, train station and Board walk Total Experience was good but not excellent and there are roam for improvement which I can share with the Hotel if they want to. Despite that, I really recommend this property for all Halifax visitors. Wish you a lovely Travel Tamer TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

5 Stars all the way!

Oct 17th, 2019

The staff, the rooms, the event space get 5 stars all around. Fantastic location, guest rooms are very clean, the staff is approachable, knowledgable and professional. The food & beverage options were minimal but great food and service every time. Great hotel for conference business due to the event space and location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A nice stay at the Wesin

Oct 12th, 2019

I had a pleasant 2 nigh stay at the Westin at the end of August. I liked the historic nature of the hotel connected to the train station. I'd booked a water front room and enjoyed both the view and the comfort of the room. Although my stay was during the weekend, the room was quiet. I loved the location of the hotel in direct proximity of the farmer's market and the walkway along the water. No complaints at all. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
