Awesome week !!

My wife and I had an absolutely great time at the Westin Puntacana... the resort was very very clean, the grounds were immaculate ! We ate most of our meals at the resort and the food was outstanding.. every morning we had the Buffett breakfast and the choices for breakfast were endless and all delicious! We had several meals at lobby bar, the pool and Brasso at the beach. They were all perfect ... The staff at this resort was so nice and accommodating... they really went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time.. I want to point out a few individuals that stood out: Dellanira Rojas was our maid. She was so nice! She provided us extra water and coffee each day we requested it.. our room was always clean and ready again for us when we returned in the afternoon. And she went out of her way with some special touches for us!! Santos and Hector at the lobby bar were so fun, outgoing and made sure they took care of our every need !!! Victor at the Cigar bar was also very attentive and a great bartender. And lastly Luis the server that worked the pool area we were at all week was so nice, also very attentive and made sure we had a blast!! Don’t be afraid to enjoy the beautiful Dominican Republic!! We felt very safe and had zero issues !! If you want a great, chill and relaxing couples stay... this is your place!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Nice resort great beach.

Close to the airport and within the rest area. Great service all around. Nice pool area and spectacular white sand beach. Rooms were excellent and very comfortable with great views. Not many restaurants on site but many within the resort area and at the shopping mall. A shuttle is readily available. Eco site is free with hotel stay. This is a must see and bring your bathing suits. The only problem is that there is no surf, huge under tow and current but no waves in Punta Cana for body surfing. We had a great trip. Awesome property, service and atmosphere

If you've never been to Punta Cana, NOW is he time to go. We spent a week at the Westin Punta Cana and can't wait to go back. The hotel is 5-10 minutes away from the airport, and the area is beautiful and luxurious. Everything is manicured and top-shelf. The hotel is in a secure "bubble" as my wife called it. Even outside of the gated hotel/residential zone, Punta Cana Village, a planned retail area near the airport, had a plethora of restaurants (Dominican, Mexican, Italian, Bistro, Pub, Brew Pub) only 10-minute shuttle ride away. Upon check-in we were told that the resort is non-cash (room charge or credit card) and that we had charging priveleges at the Four Points in Punta Cana Village. This was not exactly true. We could not use room charge at the gift shop or at the Four Points (not that big of a deal) If you have Bonvoy Platinum Elite status,a full breakfast buffet including omelet station was free. I'm not sure if it's the time of year, or the after-effects of deadly bad publicity, but the hotel was empty. Each day at the pool, no more than 20 of the ~140 beach chairs were occupied. Same thing for the beach. By the end of the week, the hotel came to life, but there were never more than 10-20% of the beach/pool chairs occupied. This is a very chill resort. Not a lot of kids or kids activities, but that's because we were there between school breaks. The weather was predictably perfect each day - high 82 low 72 with rain on one overnight. Food and drink pricing was fair, in fact the drink pricing was downright cheap compared to most resorts. Beers $5-7, frozen drinks and all wine by the glass under $10. Grey Goose $8. The most expensive drink was Johnnie Walker Blue for $30 Ladies, learn "un poco mas". My wife was consistently under-poured wine compared to my glass. It was unbelievably consistent across restaurants, bars and servers. She always recieved a smaller drink than me. It was very strange but the server would always correct it when we pointed it out. The service throughout Punta Cana was friendly. Maybe a little sporadic at the pool, but I could always walk the 30 yards and buy the dirt cheap drinks. Many times we struck up a conversation with our bartenders and the common topic was baseball. One server was from Robinson Cano's hometown. Another from Pedro Ortiz's village. Albert Puljolz, Nelson Cruz, Manny Machado, on and on. If you know your baseball, you'll make friends with everyone. The water in the hotel rooms was non-potable. I'm not sure if this is due to a "sustainable" initiative, or problems with their water supply. There were always 4-6 water bottles in my room and the maids were good about replenishing. The restaurants also provided water from plastic water bottles. Punta Cava restaurant in the Village offered 1-liter glass bottles of water which was a classier touch than the Westin's plastic bottles Waterfront La Brassa restaurant featured seafood, steaks and a good variety of other dishes. Playa Blanca restuarant is a short walk down the beach and also offered a good variety. Playa Blanca is the only time we had an issue with service (on our first night). The check included a 10% Service Charge. I would add another 10% on the Gratuity line. Our server explained that the service charge and tips were pooled and he didn't get 100% of it. I'm not sure what he was asking me to do, but I'm not tipping more than 20% unless service is exceptional. In the US tips are pooled all the time, so I didn't feel bad about my tips. No one else raised this issue during our stay. There was a hidden cigar bar next to the hidden poke/wraps shop. We did not learn of these until a few days into our trip. The cigar bar had a 10'x15' walk-in humidor where the staff helped me pick a selection of the DR's best cigars as a birthday gift for a friend. They had a few Honduran and Cubans, but the focus was on Dominican cigars, which came to prominence when Cuban cigar makers fled that country in the 1960s after the US trade embargo. Loved our stay at the Westin Puntacana
Feb 8th, 2020
We stayed at the Westin from 1/28-2/3. The Westin is a short 10 minute ride from the airport and we felt very safe and secure during our entire stay there - the Puntacana Resort & Club is very well maintained and immaculate. Not the best nightlife since it is pretty isolated, but that is exactly what we were looking for. From the very beginning, we felt like it was the perfect location for us - it seemed like we never saw more than 20-25 people at a time, so it was never an issue to find a lounge chair around the pool or at the beach. We had the buffet breakfast each morning - omlete bar, fruit, bacon, sausage, etc. More than enough food and I loved the variety (I even commented the first day that I really liked a certain kind of juice and they went back into the kitchen and made one for my wife and I from scratch). Beautiful white sand beaches and we could go at least 200-300 yards into the ocean and it never went above my neck (there was also a little seaweed each day, but they had people or machines that were cleaned it up each day). We ate at the Brassa Grill a couple of times and thought that the food was great. Best part of the stay was our room - we were upgraded from our room to a Junior Suite and had a million dollar view from our room and balcony. It was a huge room with more than enough room for my wife and I and the hotel had great service. We couldn't drink the water from the tap, but the hotel provided as many bottles of water as we needed each day. We couldn't be happier that we chose the Westin and would definitely come back for another visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Full review follows: TLDR: 5/5. Beautiful resort, comfy rooms, delicious food, lovely beach! Full review follows. Would recommend. (Bring singles for tipping) Review: Beautiful. Westin Punta Cana is truly lovely. I have no bad remarks about this location, I will caution however, if you are looking for a resort with nightly entertainment, endless food options and a high energy atmosphere, this is likely not the place for you. It has none of that. What the Westin lacks in food choices, it makes up for with fresh, delicious plates served by friendly staff. What is lacking in high fire entertainment, is balanced out with nature's beautiful entertainment, for example birds strolling by or fish jumping in the sea. This location is surprisingly close to the airport but there was no sense of constant flying over head. All of this and the "heavenly" bed experience, who could ask for anything more. Room: 5/5 Double room, 3rd floor center (Rm 330) Amazing views of the Caribbean Sea. You could see the amazingly calm waters and enjoy the sunrise daily. Room was modestly decorated with nice touches. Oversized balcony to sit out and drink it all in. Bathroom amenities were standard, including soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. Separate shower area, with no tub. Room was refreshed daily with 3 bottles of water and more available by request at no charge. Turn down service is available. Don't bother with the mini bar, we could never figure out how to open it, but that was for the best. Restaurants: 4/5 Full breakfast buffet with omelette station, lots of choices to suit any guest, including vegetarian. Not sure for other dietary restrictions. Other open air restaurant by the water was great. Food was delivered hot and delicious. Pools and bars: 4/5 there are 2 pools and a hot tub. All were clean, cool and with plenty of seating. Absolutely no shortage of service at the pool or beach. Top shelf liquor and your drinks were never watered down. Nightly show and various activities: n/a They have none of these, but they do have a very chill little cigar bar if you're so inclined Check-in/check-out: 5/5 fast and easy with a welcome drink to boot!
