Nice hotel, nice room, very convenient location on the Riverwalk

Room was good size, clean, modern feeling. You can get good deals on the Riverwalk. Lots of restaurants close by, many choices and options, though you do need to walk for a little while to reach them. Wasn't impressed with hotel restaurant, though I enjoyed the lounge and staff there TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fathers Day Weekend

Beautiful hotel. Met family here at hotel. LYFT from airport was only $17. I drove in. Easy pull up to front door and valet parking. So far easy. Rooms are beautiful, CLEAN bathroom. We overlooked pool and river. The hotel is on the river. The hotel cafe has a patio area that is on the river. So easy to relax and the start your journey through the Riverwalk area. Sous Chef, Eugene Schlaff was great. One morning we arrived with only 15 mins left for the breakfast buffet. He held service so my family could get our breakfast. Omelets made to order, with a awesome variety of breakfast staples. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Consistent Anti-Semitism, Encourage All Jewish Business Travelers to Consider Elsewhere

Well, it took 200+ Marriott stays before I had one that caused me to leave in tears. I’ve never experienced anything close to anti-semitism from any of my previous Marriott stays, and the Westin San Antonio Riverfront, over the course of one night, found 3 ways to shame me for my appearance and identity. First time was at check-in. All was going well until whoever checked me in saw the last name on my ID. “So, when will you be checking out?” – Westin “4 PM” – me (I put 4pm in in the app) “4 PM, you said?” – Westin “Yes, 4 PM…” – Me “So you’ll be leaving your room at 4 PM?” – Westin “Yes…” – Me “Well if you do end up leaving before 4 PM after all, let us know so we can get housekeeping to clean your room before the next guest” – Westin The check-in person proceeded to treat me like I was committing a grave sin by staying at the Westin Riverfront. Coincidence the Westin Riverfront felt they needed extra cleaning time after someone with a Jewish last name stayed there, to the point of reminding them that they apparently need extra time to clean up? Then came the Valet experience. I handed my ticket to someone (with last name on it) to valet attendant. I noticed that others who had come up and handed in their tickets got attendants to take their keys over and retrieve their vehicles sooner, before mine, but didn’t think much of it, until this kept happening for 30 minutes. Then I asked an attendant if they were working on my vehicle, to which he practically spat, “We’re busy,” before making a show of tending to customers that had just walked up with their tickets first. Once they finally got my vehicle, that same attendant stood menacingly right outside my driver’s side window staring at me until I left. Then, the final bit – they charged me $19 for internet, although I’m a Platinum Elite member. They registered my status when I checked in, as they gave me a Platinum breakfast voucher, so that wasn’t the issue. I’ve stayed at Marriott properties over 200 nights as a status member with free internet, and have never once been mistakenly charged for internet. I fail to see this as a coincidence. I’m sure the Westin Riverfront thought that someone “like me” wouldn’t even notice or care about a fraudulent $20 charge. (They still have not refunded this.) I highly recommend Jewish business travelers strongly consider booking elsewhere. (As a contrast, I went to the St Anthony down the street, and had what I consider to be the best check-in experience I’ve ever had.) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Meh...

My first experience at the Westin was less than impressive. The first question the front desk clerk asked was what time I thought I would be leaving when I checked out. Seriously? My mother taught me better manners than that. You don't immediately ask a guest coming in to your home when they plan on leaving (unless you plan on that guest never coming back...hint, hint). The air conditioning could not seem to keep up (I kept mine at 62 and it was still humid and warm). Several other guests concurred. There was some sort of bug poo on the bench in my room. The pillows...oh, where to begin. Why do hotels insist on those smooshed down versions of a "pillow"? It takes 4 of them to sort of kind of create one half of a pillow. When I checked out and the clerk asked how my stay was, I replied "It was ok". The clerk looked a little surprised and asked "Just ok?" and I thought, "Ok, good, some customer service". And, I mentioned the A/C and then he sort of looked vacant and I gave up. My point is, the hotel is very pretty. The customer service could use some sprucing up. Like maybe don't start with "When are you leaving"? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Phenomenal Service - Beautiful Hotel

My wife and I decided to take a road trip to San Antonio to enjoy the Riverwalk and do some wine tours, in Fredericksburg. We chose the Westin Riverwalk as we are Marriott loyalists and Platinum Elite. From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were met with impeccable service and my status as a Platinum was absolutely recognized and rewarded. We were upgraded to an awesome corner suite with two balconies. The employee at the check in desk explained everything to us and we knew what to take advantage of in the hotel. We did have an issue with room 1139, though. The AC just wouldn’t get the bedroom cool, so sleeping was a bit rough. However, the hotel did a fantastic job of making this right for us and did what they could to cool the room. The way the hotel handled the issue was phenomenal and I couldn’t be more impressed. The hotel’s location is perfect. The hotel’s amenities are fantastic. The hotel’s service is beyond good. We can’t wait to come back to San Antonio and stay at the Westin Riverwalk.
