Unreal Surreal Ordeal

Mar 26th, 2020

Thanks to RICKETTS It has been CRICKETS from the so annoyingto not get a response and explanation to my ordeal for over a week. Unacceptable for real. The worst experience ever. Chicago has many excellent lodging options, I wouldn’t ever suggest or stay at this amateur hour “hotel”. I’m not sure if anyone has experienced this, but it’s terrible when book a room and the hotel staff refuses to let you in, give you any information or reason and just hangs up on you repeatedly like I don’t exist. Now, this was March 19th, and this is a hotel the was accepting reservations, that I made earlier the same day. I booked a room at “the wheelhouse hotel” and when I arrived there was no one there and the door was locked...there was a sign on the registration desk that said “we will be back shortly” when I buzzed the door someone would say “Wheelhouse hotel”...I would request to be let in so I could check in and they would hang up, I did this 3 times as well as call the number listed, same thing, a guy would answer, and then hang up even after pleading with him to explain what was going on and there was no one there. The person answering the phone would not say anything other that Wheelhouse Hotel...he would listen and then not say anything and hang up, why would the idiot even answer the phone. The whole thing made no sense what so ever. Again, there are amazing hotels here that know what hospitality and customer service means...The would suggest eliminating this Unreal Surreal Ordeal House from your plans. All they had to do was say, find another hotel. And it has been a week later and I have not had one response from management, that is because they do not’s not because they are busy. They do not care TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place close to all the action in Wrigleyville

Unique baseball themed hotel. Great retro feel, yet completely modern. Guys at front desk were polite and helpful. Very, very clean and comfortable rooms. Cloe to tons of restaurants and of course just a few blocks from the friendly confines. Would definitely recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Enjoyable Stay near Wrigley

Feb 10th, 2020

My husband and I stayed for one night at the Wheelhouse Hotel in February. We were impressed by the helpful staff and stylish rooms. The decor was unique and colorful. The location is perfect for anyone who plans to attend a game in the summer. We noticed a large ice skating rink right down the road which could be fun in the winter. Some things to note: even though it was off-season, Clark St is very busy with many party bars. We could hear a lot of partying and yelling outside our window until early in the morning. If you can't easily tune out music and voices, you might want to request a room on the top floor and wear earplugs. You might also think about bringing a travel fan or something to create white noise. Our room was neatly decorated with black and white checkered tiles in the bathroom and a rainhead shower. I would guess that all bathrooms have barn doors that slide open on rollers because we could hear the door rolling from the floor above us. The barn door design takes up less space, but it isn't a quiet choice. One suggestion I have would be for the hotel to install simple hooks on the inside of the bathroom doors. Ours did not have any sort of lock. We had a king bed which was definitely on the firm side. The king bed does take up a lot of space in the room, and my husband hit his leg on the corner of the bed twice. (It takes some people a little longer to learn!) If you need a lot of space, you might want to select a different room. The lobby area is nice and relaxing. Lots of sofa space to read or drink coffee. Please note that the hotel restaurant is not open at this time. From what I could tell, it looks like it's going to be really awesome when it does open. There are plenty of bars and restaurants up and down Clark St. so it wasn't a problem for us. The hotel offers free Cracker Jack snacks (in a bag) which was appreciated. Parking -- note that the hotel does not offer any parking. I used the Spot Hero app to secure parking in the Addison and Clark garage which is located right down the street from the hotel. The garage is super nice and well lit. I paid $18 for 24 hours. Overall, we had a really nice stay at the Wheelhouse and hope to return when the restaurant is open. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Clean, comfortable and super cool!

Feb 3rd, 2020

I decided to try something new on a work trip to Chicago and couldn't be happier to have found the Wheelhouse. What a cool, unique spot right in the middle of Wriglyville. Steve and the front desk staff were super helpful with local recommendations and advice on what to do. Rooms were clean and well appointed and beds very comfortable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
