Beautiful Grand Old Style

Aug 17th, 2019

I booked this hotel on line from NZ. It has a beautiful old World charm and is one of Chicago's origanal hotels. Michael Jackson and Liz Taylor are rumored to have even stayed. Room was spacious with a great bed and good size bathroom. The gym was very good too. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, awesome. Very good spot and only 100 metres from Michigan Ave. Area is safe and you can walk everywhere. The photos here are only metres from the hotel. Great stay, thanks guys. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Location!

Aug 14th, 2019

First the positives: The Whitehall Hotel is right in the heart of the CBD. It is within walking distance to restaurants, pubs, shopping and the subway line. Taxis are plentiful too. The staff at this hotel are amazing. The friendly doormen will help you with everything from your luggage, to directions, to hailing a cab. The front desk staff and concierge are very knowledgeable and are also happy to help with arranging tours or dinner reservations. Now the negatives: The first room we had didn't have blinds on the window so the light came in the room very early. We complained about this to the front desk and they moved us to a room that did have black-out curtains. That room was quite a bit smaller than our first and did not have a nice view, but sleep was more important to us. There are no coffee makers in the room. There is coffee available in the lobby until 10am, but you have to go down the tiny elevator and get it yourself. This is an old hotel and we knew that when we booked, but it is in need of a good face lift! The decor is dated and there are only 2 small elevators for 21 floors of rooms! The elevator can only hold 5 people at a time. With luggage, they are very claustrophobic. The bathrooms are small and dark. Overall, we did enjoy our stay here and would consider returning to this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A beautiful hotel

I usually go for more modern hotels, but this was a big surprise. The room is big and comfortable, and the staff was especially great with their exceptional service. I would love to stay again if I'm ever in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Delightful hotel in a great location, just off the "magnificent mile"

Loved the Whitehall Hotel. The location is terrific and the rooms are beautiful and moderately priced. They have a nice restaurant where we had drinks and breakfast in the morning. There is easy parking right across the street and the doorman got us transportation around the city whenever we needed it, but we were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to go.
