Ok Service, Poor Carpeting

Jul 16th, 2019

For it's billing as a 5 star hotel, the Palacio wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Good: - The breakfast buffet was GREAT! So were the snacks they leave you for check-in and for tea time. These were a very nice touch and much appreciated. - The waiters at the breakfast buffet were really friendly. That customer service was also much appreciated. Things That Could Be Improved: - Our check in experience was poor. For one thing, even though we showed up at check in time, our room was not ready. For another thing, instead of explaining what the facility offers, the person who checked us in just looked at us and said, "So, what do you want to know?" - Carpets, couches, and laundry machine! There were visible stains on the carpets and sitting chairs in our room. The staff can clean all they want, but that's not going erase stains. Plus the age of the carpet seemed to result in stuffiness in the room. I was also willing to shell out $30 USD just to get a clean pair of yoga pants and some t-shirts, but their laundry machine broke down. #maintenanceneeded! - Haunted? ... This one is admittedly something that might be more of a personal observation, but I got the feeling that the place was haunted. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A beautiful location for a lunch after sightseeing

Jul 8th, 2019

We went to the terrace Restaurant of this beautiful palace on top of Sintra. All common areas are tasteful decorated and the old elements of the palace are very well renovated. The view to the interior gardens is absolutely beautiful. A quite and peaceful location after a busy sightseeing in Sintra and a perfect noble place for a lunch or a just a coffee. The quality of the food was good, the service could be a bit better but overall a great experience ! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Elegance in a Magical Town

Jul 5th, 2019

This hotel epitomizes Sintra...There are so many sites with elegant old world interiors .. And this property reflects the esthetic .. The common rooms are old world European yet bright and airy. When you approach the property you are awestruck! When you enter the service is impeccable!!! We were upgraded to Room 24 which was cozy and elegant with a huge terrace overlooking the Palacio in the distance... .. We stayed for two nights which seemed perfect to see the town Day One on Arrival we spent wandering the town and ultimately walking down a winding art lined road to a fabulous meal at In Comun Day Two If you are up for a rigorous but beautiful hike and you have good sneakers you can cut through the forest right across the street to the Palacio Pena... the earlier the better this place gets very crowded!!! Eat lunch in their restaurant Not the cafeteria..which becomes a noisy mob scene and buy all tickets online From there hike over to Moor Castle then downhill right into Sintra.. stop at Piriquita for their specialty pastries and a rest then the national Palace!! Back up the hill to the Quinta da Regalaria .. and to the hotel for a wonderful massage with Beatriz at the small but luxurious spa... Then take a quick 20 minute cab ride to the beach and wonderful seaside restaurant ..Adraga.. Stay for the sunset... Having a car here is a hassle especially with the one way streets which adds tons of time to and from the hotel Important however to make sure you are taken to the correct Tivoli NOT the one in the center of town! As we were necessitating a long hike up the road with luggage! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Luxury in Sintra

Jun 8th, 2019

We booked to go to Sintra after reading an article about the area. The hotel was recommended to us and seemed to suite our requirements. It is a very small hotel, in guest terms, and the approach to everything is luxury. We had a room on the front of the hotel with views towards the mountains. The room was very spacious and well appointed with plenty of room to spread out your luggage. Food in the hotel was excellent and the service was perfect. Sintra is just a walk away and is well worth the visit. We ate one evening in a restaurant in the village and ran into the problem of the new one way system, the first taxi driver we spproached would not take us to the hotel due to the length of journey through the system with a comparatively small fare, it is worth getting the hotel to arrange in advance if you are going for a night on the town. What a magical experience!

Jun 2nd, 2019

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Not only the location and the place itself looks like pulled out of a fairy tale, but the staff made us feel so special!! Our room had the most beautiful view, everything was so magical! I felt like a real princess! The amenities were the best and the old luxury style of the rooms is something you don’t find anywhere. I think I will remember our stay here forever, memories for a lifetime ❤️ TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
