Staff great.

Sep 8th, 2019

This stay was a one nighter. The check in process was smooth and I greatly appreciated the friendliness both at breakfast and check in and check out. With the amenities in the room and the restaurants available at a short driving distance this would be a great hotel for a longer time to stay option. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Jolted out of my sleep

Aug 4th, 2019

I am giving this hotel a 3-star simply because of the checkout process. Perhaps if there was no fire at the hotel, the staff would have been in a better mood as we checked out. I've have always loved this hotel and staff so I am truly saddened by the rudeness at checkout. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past because it's close to my brothers and other family so choosing this hotel to stay at during a weekend visit to my brother's was a no-brainer. The check in process went well as usual. The staff here is extremely nice unless there's a fire, apparently. My daughter and I went to bed approximately midnight upon returning to the hotel. A couple of hours later we were both jolted out of our sleep by the fire alarm going off in both buildings. The fire trucks arrived shortly after we were outside. Eventually the fire trucks left however we were given no instructions as to whether we could return to our room or not by the staff which never came out of the hotel. Some guests entered the building as the first 2 fire trucks left. (There were 4 firetrucks in total which arrived at the hotel.) As the last fire truck started to leave - almost an hour later - one of the firemen said we had the all clear to go back in. No one from the front desk came outside to say we could go back in or even try to explain what was going on. We were all standing outside from both buildings wondering what was occurring. After the all clear, I proceeded to go back to our room and collect the rest of our items as it was after 5:30 and we were due to leave at 6 that morning to head back home. As I went in to check out, the man on duty was rude. I understand he was dealing with the aftermath of having fire trucks on the property but felt that was not a reason to be rude. I have reservations for later this year at this hotel but am considering looking at another Marriott property/location for a place to stay which saddens me because of the location and the normally nice staff. The rooms here also very nice as well. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice stay

Jul 7th, 2019

Overall a very positive experience. We were greeted warmly and given a very nice room. The pool is outdoors, but very accessible. There is a smoking section outdoors, but it is well away from doors and entry ways. My only complaint is that the tub was slippery, which I did report to the desk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just don't do it! Find something else!

Jun 24th, 2019

I wish I had read reviews before staying here, but I always trust Marriott properties, so that was my first mistake. First room was smelly, so we asked to move. Second room literally had hair in the shower, a lot more on the bathroom floor, and the dishes in the kitchen weren't clean (the spoon on top of the pile had green bits, spinach maybe, all over it!). The third room was clean. The problem isn't just the lack of good housekeeping. The front desk staff never apologized for the problems we found, but rather seemed to imply that we were "problem guests" because we didn't just accept the room we were given. I never asked for a refund or expected a discount (nor was offered one), but it would have been nice for the employees to at least be nice about the whole thing! There are plenty of other properties in the Greenville area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't Be Fooled

There are a ton of hotel options in the greater Greenville area. If you are thinking about staying at the TownePlace at 75 Mall Connector Road due to the price, just know that there is a reason this hotel is the cheaper option. I'm a Titanium Elite Marriott member, who stays at Marriott properties a minimum of 100 nights a year and I have done so for the past 8 years, and I can honestly say that this is by far the worst Marriott property I have ever stayed at. First off, it was the only time that I can recall not being greeted nicely as I checked in. Typically the front desk would thank me for being an Elite member, ask if I'd like points or a market item and offer me a complementary water. This didn't happen at this location, as the clerk was rude and obnoxious. Oh well, no biggie. However, once I was given my room key, I opened the door to my room to see dirty dishes on the counter, an un-made bed and the sofa bed was also pulled out and had been used. Once I brought the issue to the attention of the front desk, the clerk acted like it was no big deal and said " I guess room service didn't get to that room". She acted like it was a common occurrence. After I got moved to another room, even though I didn't find any dirty dishes or a used bed, it was filled with hair, had towels that looked like they hadn't been washed and just general filth everywhere. The following day, I brought my issues to the attention of the manager, who seemed unfazed by my experience but did offer me points to compensate, which by the way, I still haven't received as of 7 days later. If you are looking for a ghetto-esque type of hotel, this is undoubtedly your place. However, if you are expecting a nice, clean hotel; one that you'd expect with the name of Marriott, do yourself a favor and chose another location. I will never go back to that dump!
