Overview

Resort offers beach access and seven swimming pools
Property's abundant family-friendly amenities make this a less-than-ideal option for couples seeking peace and quiet

The TradeWinds Island Grand Resort on St. Pete Beach offers a tropical playground for beachcombers and wave-riders. With the abundance of on-site amenities, some guests won't even want to leave the resort. Guests can choose from multiple heated pools, a smattering of dining venues and a long list of kid-centric activities, including the High Tide Water Slide and dive-in movies. While the kids are kept busy, parents can head out for a round of golf nearby or stick around to take advantage of the treatments offered at the on-site spa. And for family time during the day, visitors can recline in a bright blue cabana on TradeWinds' signature white sand beach or skip the sand and take to the seas via parasail or Jet Ski. Recent travelers rave about the seemingly endless array of activities, but for many, it was TradeWinds' friendly staff that made their stay memorable. Take note that this property is geared toward families; couples seeking an intimate getaway might consider a quieter alternative elsewhere.

The only resort on the beach offering up its own fireworks display, the island-chic TradeWinds is very popular with foreign travelers and the go-to place for beach weddings; it's also one of the few pet-friendly resorts in the area, with a play area and a room-service menu for dogs and cats. There's actually an entire building with rooms reserved only for those traveling with pets.
