Turtle Bay Resort May 12 - 19, 2019

May 25th, 2019

Hotel is beautiful. Stayed for a week. Only issue is PARKING for resort guests. It seems that unless you pay for valet parking (which you are already paying for parking as a resort guest) you have to fight with ALL the beach goers. Other than that, this hotel is absolutely beautiful! 2nd time there for a week! Staff is wonderful! I recommend staying on the Vista Level, book direct, ask for Myrna and ask for room #652. Top Floor, AND BEAUTIFUL SUNSET VIEW! ABSOLUTE MUST DO'S: Segway Tours, Sunset Horseback Tour, Helicopter Ride with No Doors, Lei's Lei's for Breakfast and Dinner and Roy's Beach House Hot Dogs with Pineapple Relish (MUST TRY!! DELISH!) Villa Condos

May 25th, 2019

Only resort on North Shore. Very large with different types lodging: hotel, cottages & condos. We happened to booked a condo thru the owner who is very nice & accommodating. However, as from other reviews, we don’t get all privileges as booked thru resort. And if you have an Epic gift card, be sure to confirm you can use at vendors on property. And as noted by many other reviews, you pay for a lot of services, including daily parking, valet & tips. Fortunately, the condos have designated space for each unit right outside the door! On-site Outpost books many activities. We booked kayaking trip & saw many turtles in waters. Also booked surfing lessons for sons right on north side beach. The east side beach is a bay which is calm with coral bottoms for good snorkeling. Many restaurants but we only looked at Roy’s on beach whose entrees were very pricey, $30-40s. North shore is known for food trucks so we ventured out & enjoy them often. Beautiful grounds & everyone was friendly. We spent time exploring sites around island so only spend 1st & last day on property but enjoy it all. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overpriced and MEH!

May 25th, 2019

Ok. So folks are gonna get upset at me. So, let me just qualify my headline. This place is simply overhyped. The reviews are far higher than they ought to be. The location is very nice. The ground are lovely, but the staff and the facilities are just OK and certainly not worth the price. I filed another review on another site and received a response from their management providing the excuse that the most recent owner did not spend money to upkeep the resort, but they were recently bought...implying that the new owner was going to be upgrading the facility. And they asked me to give them another chance!?!?! I just find that insulting, though I know they didn’t intend it that way. But let’s think about it. I spent lots of time and money to get from the mainland to Oahu and on up to Turtle Bay. I used my vacation time from my employer to spend at Turtle Bay and you are telling me that I should give you another chance because you think it’s going to be better when I return?!?! You had your chance and my money!! So, the check-in staff were fine, but not particularly informative or welcoming. The hallways in the resort are impressively wide and spacious. The rooms are good sized, but really nothing special. Very “standard hotel room.” Nothing special in the bathroom. The bed was nothing special. We had a lovely balcony that was good sized. The view if you looked straight out was of the rocky point and the ocean. Unfortunately, below was the roof of the banquet area, which was wrapped in something white and the glare made staring out at the ocean very uncomfortable. We had an vent on the lawn outside of the banquet area that was really nice. The food was great. However the staff were all unfriendly and had frowns on their faces. They also kept picking up my plate before I was finished with it and filling my water glass after every sip I took. We also had a meeting in the banquet hall and I was surprised that the hall looked like a banquet hall at a Holiday Inn. It was fine, but nothing special or unique all the way down to the carpet and chairs. The beach are is pretty small and crowded. The pool area is also pretty small and crowded. I booked a series of spa services for myself and my spouse. We chose items with the spas help over the phone that appeared to be unique Hawaiian/ Turtle Bay (lava stone massage, etc.) While we found some relaxation in our experiences, they were totally nothing unique. (The lava stone is a fake shell with a heating element in it.). It was also really cold in the outdoor massage tents, which was not very comfortable. The food on site is not great and WAY overpriced. We ate at the Roy’s on the beach for lunch. We had a lava flow each and a burger or sandwich and our bill with tip was over $80!!! The food was just ok. Certainly not $80 good. We ate at the fancy restaurant on-site too (I can’t remember the name.) The food was fine, but not worth the price and the service was awkward and disruptive to our group. I am not a golfer and did not experience the golfing. Others in our group really enjoyed the golfing. At the same time, I never heard anyone gushing about it, but they had a good time. The resort does have activities coordinators and we did not engage with them. I know there are lots of things to do on-site and close-by and they will help you book those things. All of them come at a PREMIUM! All in all, our time was ok. I would not return. I would only recommend this resort to golfers with lots of cash to burn, but I would imagine there are better resorts with good golfing that cost less. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing Photoshoot with Blinnk Photography

May 25th, 2019

We were introduced to Blinnk Photography over email via the Turtle Bay Resort concierge and we booked a complementary photo session with them. So on the day of the photoshoot, we met Mason near the hotel lobby. We were ~15 min early, but he got started with us right away. And throughout the ~45min long session, Mason was calm and pleasant to interact with. He made sure we were comfortable with the camera, reminding us to take a break, and be ready in between shots. We walked around the beautiful property at Turtle Bay Resort, capturing pictures at several amazing spots. While we enjoyed our time on the beachside, he took great candid pictures of us - with a few highlighting the baby bump :) There was plenty of time for us to get some good pictures with nice day light and during the golden hour before sunset. We booked a viewing session for the next day. There were multiple packages (mostly based on number of photos), and they were a bit expensive, so we weren't sure what we'll purchase. We spent ~20 min going thru all photos and selecting our favorites. We liked the photos so much that we ended up deciding to buy them all (~300+). And it was totally worth it! Plus there was a surprise video of the photoshoot for us to enjoy! We got some free print credits - used them for a nice 16x20 Canvas Print. I would recommend Mason / Blinnk Photography to everyone at Turtle Bay Resort, celebrating something special. They'll help make some great memories for you and your loved ones! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our favorite vacation destination

May 24th, 2019

We’ve been to Turtle Bay Resort and stayed at the cottages 6 times in 14 months. Each stay was 12 nights and was a very relaxing, quiet, comfortable, and beautiful. The staff is incredible, the grounds are beautiful. Terry Moea’i and Fely Shansey were wonderful and made our stay very enjoyable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
