This location is amazing. Close to everything on the North Shore. There was huge surf when we were there which was great to watch!! The Makahiki Festival was on the weekend we were there----on the hotel grounds!! Had a great time seeing Mike Love play at Surfer the Bar. Great weekend!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Could Use Some Updating...

Jan 15th, 2020

Overall we had a nice time at the Turtle Bay Resort. The outside is beautiful - beach and pool options and lots to explore if you rent a bike or do one of their guided tours... tons of ocean and cliffs and nature. I will say that maybe my expectations were too high for how "grand" this place was going to feel (I blame Sarah Marshall) - hotel-wise, it is just OK. Could use some updating, in my opinion, which it seems like maybe they are starting to do (was some construction on a restaurant while we were there). Also, the drinks are your typical Hawaii prices, but not as good as a lot of other places - seemed a bit watered down, in my opinion, so we stuck to beer and wine. The margarita was actually undrinkable because it was straight sour mix, also. Lots of food options, though, which all had some really good stuff. North Shore of Oahu is amazing, so it is definitely worth a stop, but given this is the only real big resort up there, they should really do more to make it a better experience for guests. Deceptive advertising

Jan 14th, 2020

I selected this resort because of a online promotion claiming a good deal. What the add failed to mention in addition to room cost a very large resort Fee which was to cover DVD rentals and beach towels for us. This shock on checking in put a cloud over are whole visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Forgetting Turtle Bay

Jan 11th, 2020

After a two and a half week vacation touring New Zealand and Australia, my boyfriend and I decided to extend a layover in Hawaii into two nights before heading home. Thinking it would be funny, we booked two nights at Turtle Bay fondly recalling Forgetting Sarah Marshall. What a mistake. We get checked in and despite the $50/day resort fees you can’t even sit in chairs on the beach for free. But you have access to a DVD player despite it being the year 2020, so I guess all’s well? The first night we headed to Pa’akai which was supposed to be the nicer of the resort restaurants. Instead after notifying the server of my nut allergy, we were given the Poke Trio, which has nuts in it? Thankfully my boyfriend and the table runner stopped me from eating it. Mistakes happen, but come on. When I asked if we could just have the appetizer without nuts, I was told that it’s pre-mixed. Um, gross. The next day we didn’t have housekeeping come at all, which if you’re going to advertise as a luxury resort a good place to start is to make the beds daily. Just maybe the bare minimum please. On our last night we were interested in checking out the only bar that was open late on the resort and in the area, surfer, but were told as hotel guests we had to pay a cover. Again- is that resort fee only for the DVD player? Upon checkout we had to have $100 in extraneous charges reversed, so if you still choose to stay here, make sure they don’t charge you for towel rentals or a parking fee despite not having a car there. Basically if you love the movie- just watch it. Don’t waste your money here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
