Ok we visited in June as a married couple we decided on this resort after visiting their sister resort in St. Lucia last year and thought it would be the same. Sadly not the case. Positives this hotel is right on the beach and the view is fantastic we stayed in room110 which was fine I had emailed the resort before hand and asked for a ground floor room due to my husband having slight walking difficulties. Check in was great we received a rum punch while we were waiting to check in our room was great no issues at all spotlessly clean and cleaned daily and fresh towels every day, there was a fridge and the room was air conditioned very much needed The whole hotel was clean and spotless the pool was lovely and warm we had no trouble with sun beds but the hotel was at this time of year not at full capacity. The food was great I thought there was plenty of choice but then again I am not a very fussy eater and as long as there is fish on the menu I’m happy. The drinks were all fine but I am a cocktail kind of girl and these were great plenty of choice and my husband informs me the beer was great also. The highlight of this holiday was indeed the turtles one night 6 of the leatherback turtles came up to lay their eggs it was an amazing sight, I was with one lady one night and we were walking along the beach and saw a baby hatchling trying to get down to the sea and she rescued it it was just amazing. Ok now the problems all the facilities offered on their website were not available throughout all of our stay the D Grill was only open for about 4 of the 14 days that we were there the lounge bar wasn’t open at all and they only opened the other restaurant twice for the al acarte. I didn’t see any non motorised water sports at all then I heard another person say that all the pedaloes, kayaks etc were by the side of the D Grill no one to assist you though. The entertainment was sparse but what they did put the singers etc were great. They did run out of food one night in the restaurant and a couple of nights they ran out of gin, dark rum and tequila before the bar shut! They then put the al acarte menu on twice running in the night and explained it was cheaper for them to do that than put the buffet on as there weren’t many people staying there. To me that is not an excuse you book a holiday on what is being offered on their website if they are not offering all the facilities at all times of the year then they should state that. We stayed at their St. Lucia resort at of season last year and they had everything open and there were only at one point 34 of us staying there for the first 5 days. The restaurant staff were great especially Cheryl they should clone her all the bar staff need to be sent on a customer service course. I realise that it was a quiet time of year but that is no excuse if they don’t want to offer all facilities during quiet periods then shut the hotel but don’t stay open and give not such a good service. Okay but has potential

Jul 7th, 2019

I visited Starfish for the first time in the Month of June with my family. We were initially disappointed when we arrived. The place looks a lot more dated and old than the pictures online. Check-in was not that great as we found that generally the receptionists were unwelcoming. On the bright side even though check in wasn’t satisfactory we received our rooms almost 2 hrs before check in time which is at 3. Our family had both family rooms with double beds to accommodate four and single rooms for two. We found that the family rooms were more updated than the single rooms which were rather antique looking on the inside. In addition neither the toilet nor the AC in the single rooms were functioning properly - we called for maintenance who never came but we happened to notice one guy and asked him for assistance - Collin (great guy and he fixed everything for us in a jiffy). The pool is lovely and quite big. The beach is also lovely; almost always calm, but doesn’t have the white color sands that you would get from other beaches like Storebay and Pigeon Point. The food was generally great and the seating area has a lovely view of the ocean. We would have read reviews pertaining to the adherence of a dress code for dinner but we found that they were generally lenient regarding such. The drinks - all inclusive but not that great. Scotch for instance was McCarther’s not Johnny. Nevertheless they do have a variety of mixed drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Shout out to Raul and Reuben at the bar - great service always. One memorable thing about this resort is the turtle watching. If you’re here during the period in time when the turtles lay their eggs, it’s definitely worthwhile. They come up at night and if you’re going to bed but want to see them - you can always give your room number to the front desk and they usually call if there are any sightings. Overall, with improvements in customer service and updates to the hotel, this has the potential to be a great vacation spot in Tobago. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

WONDERFUL LEATHERBACK EXPERIENCE - Plus trying to support Starfish out of season

Jun 30th, 2019

We (married couple) stayed at the Starfish Resort Tobago June 2019. Had a couple of problems just after arrival which were quickly solved i.e. no safe in room on arrival - one installed very quickly. Second night "dressing room" area flooded - apparently due to loose pipe fitting under bath - fixed whilst we were having dinner. Lovely large room with lots of storage, efficient 'fridge & air conditioning. OK sealant around bath could do with replacing, but this is a 3 star hotel, which has just been taken over. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Good quality towels (as were the beach towels). Viewed at least 9 or 10 adult Leatherback Turtles during our stay. Watched some of them coming ashore, digging their nests in the sand, laying their eggs and making their way back to the ocean. Also rescued my own little hatchling who had been separated from his siblings on the beach. Eternally grateful to the volunteer Conservationists for their kindness and dedication to preserving the Leatherback Turtles. Was delighted to be able to purchase one of their "Save our sea turtles" T-shirts. To those who are less than satisfied with their experience at the Starfish Resort, I would point out that earlier today I visited the BA website and viewed the prices for the same holiday in July! I know that there were problems with food not always being available in the D Grill or beach bar, but we visited out of season and most of us got a really good deal! If we feel in need of a really relaxing break in the future, would definitely return to this resort. Love the fact that a cockerel and chickens live happily just outside our rooms and that bulls and cows roam along the beach. Tobago is one of the most unspoilt islands I've visited in the last 20 years - long may it last! If you come to this resort - JUST GO WITH THE FLOW! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It was my Birthday

Jun 24th, 2019

I was happy because it was my birthday and my 4 th time staying so I knew SOME staff and they knew me.The food was good but some dishes can be better, there is always room for improvement like booking on line and a lesser price for nonalcoholic drinkers. There were some hiccups and stuff that you had to be at them to fix but generally I was happy and I will return.
