Worse trip ever

Aug 29th, 2019

Certain people were given preferential treatment even though I paid for an all inclusive. Everyone had conflicting information as to what we were supposed to receive for that package. Their bar drinks were really horrid as well when we told them that the drinks were too sweet and requested a little stronger coctails etc they got really angry. Because of the incident with the flight as a result of their constant tardiness of delivering meals my kids dont even want to go back to Tobago and this is really sad because we are accustom to visiting Tobago atleast twice for the year TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing location, hotel needs a lot of work! Particularly the awful food.

Aug 29th, 2019

This was my 4th stay in 6 years at Turtle beach/Starfish and unfortunately the worst by far. The location as always is amazing, would be hard to beat it, however some aspects of the hotel need a lot of work. Our main issue was the food, on previous stays it's been amazing but this time was, what can only be described as diabolical. Even managed to serve up half cooked fish! & waited 2hrs 45mins in the grill for a small slice of pizza which was slightly warm with raw dough. The buffet wasn't pleasant at all, had pork stew one night, which turned out to be a plate of bones with some fat attached to them, and that's just the highlights! We resorted to eating out & ordering take outs. The executive chef offered free lobster, shrimp & steak for all of our group one evening by way of an apology, which was a nice touch but unfortunately the chef who cooked it, managed to mess that up too! The bar was pretty good, Raul was brilliant, most of the other bar tenders were to say the least, in need of customer service training. I would add here that we weren't expecting 5* service or anything but a smile would be nice! Maintenance was never great but waiting 10days to get the shower fixed is ridiculous. Asked for new batteries for the a/c & tv remote as neither were working but they never turned up at all during out 14 day stay. The housekeeping isn't that great either, completely missed our room for 3 days on the trot, sheets were not change during our stay either, they also had a habit of wanting to clean the room at about 6pm, just as you want to shower & get ready for dinner, which is rather annoying. Entertainment was ok if you like that sort of thing but we found it was all far too loud, was impossible to carry on a conversation with the volume that loud. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor service

Aug 26th, 2019

Just stayed at the 'new' Starfish resort aka Turtle Beach during 23-25 Aug 2019. The place is run down but what the heck, already spent my money so might as well enjoy it. However, whilst I was willing to overlook the physical structure, the attitude of the bartender on the eve of Fri 23rd & Sat 24th (his name states that his name starts with 'T' has a 'V' somewhere in the middle and ends with 'R') was the straw that broke the camel's back. Every time you request a drink, it's like you are bothering him. This is depicted in his tone of voice and body language. When asked to mix a drink with water he insists that the guests in the pool get out and get the water themselves whilst the other bartenders don't. When asked about it he got aggressive and hostile. His behavior is totally unbecoming of someone who works in the hospitality industry. It is rude and extremely unprofessional. Good luck Starfish.... I know you definitely would not be getting my hard earned money again. In addition, members of my group had allergic reactions to the curry fish that was prepared for dinner and these people have never had any allergic reaction like this before. This was my 1st and it will be my last time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Worst vacation

Aug 26th, 2019

This is my 3rd and last visit to starfish tobago. The bartender, trevor was very rude, disrespectful and abusive. I ordered a tequila shot, when i enquired about the lime and salt that would usually accompany this drink, he shouted, that is how he serves a shot of tequilla ,mind you Raul was serving tequilla shots the entire afternoon with lime and salt. Trevor explained that he is not Raul, that was my last drink. He verbally abused my family by telling us just because we have money we cannot order people around and why we think it is a RACE THING i dont know why he made these assumptions. My brother went to apologise to him, trevor was even more loud and he started using explicit language. I will not be visiting Starfish again in the future, my extended family and my young children were there and it was a great embarrassment. Some type of customer training needs to be done here. Damien and Gaitree, also Cheryll were very helpful and accommodating. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
