Beware of hidden Incidentals!
Jan 13th, 2021
I’ll start with the good. I booked a 6 day trip to Eugene, OR to this hotel December 29th through January 5th. I booked this hotel for a 2nd time because the price & location are great. The hotel is a bit old & dated but it’s clean, cozy and the rooms are large. My husband likes the balcony so that he can “sneak” out and smoke. It’s within walking distance of the mall, plenty of restaurants and close to the freeway. And... the Priceline reservation I found on Trip Advisor is by far the best deal for this hotel. Don’t bother booking directly through them since they won’t match or reduce their “in house” rate. The bad: they collected my credit card at check in & said it was for incidentals. Okay, that’s standard. The day I checked out, I noticed they charged my card for $50. I figured it was pending & would drop off. It didn’t. I called and spoke to the staff, they indicated it was for PARKING??? What the? Parking? Are they kidding? I mentioned we stayed there in October of 2020, 2 months prior to our recent stay, and was never charged parking. I asked why we weren’t informed of an additional $10 a day parking fee, she stated the paper parking pass should have been an indication. Well it isn’t! It’s the principal of the matter to me. I could have parked my car in the very wide open, semi vacant parking lots of the mall, Elmers, Texas Roadhouse and walked 100 yards to the hotel entrance to save myself $50 bucks. Anyhow- maybe it’s a pick & choose which guests pay for parking based upon who or how they booked their reservation. I guess the hotel has to try and collect fees they missed out on by allowing other vendors to book their hotel for less than they charge for a direct reservation. That’s just my opinion. A+ All staff members were very nice and professional. Mandates reduced services but with teamwork we were well taken care of. Rooms were very clean. Many restaurants nearby for good to go food. Elmer's was delicious. Public transportation and shopping center right in front of hotel. Staff was very helpful with information. They do have a small shop in the lobby with amenities and snacks. Lobby has a nice seating area with a fireplace. From the front desk to the housekeeping and maintenance crews this staff worked hard to ensure a quality stay in these difficult times and really need to be commended. Thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Back & forth for temperamental keys
Nov 9th, 2020
It’s really annoying to get back to the room only to have the key not work. Then had to go to the front desk and wait for the one person working to help me. Then all the way back to the room tofu d the key still didn’t work. Back to the front desk and was told engineering would meet me. So back to the room again where the engineer said the system could be temperamental. So after that fiasco, I don’t want to leave the room. But can’t get room service unless it was requested a day in advance. Hungry and very annoyed. Always liked the place but don’t like walking back and forth several times and standing in line each time. The front desk person saw me coming the second time and really didn’t care about the inconvenience. Won’t be back TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Very poor customer service for frequent customers.
Oct 30th, 2020
We have a contract for staying at this hotel, very poor customer service and room amenities. I stay here 2-3 times a week and get left hanging outside for up to 90 min waiting on a ride from a run down taxi service, because the hotel won’t send a shuttle to pick us up. The rooms they give us are hot seated and not maintained. Barbara at the front desk doesn’t answer the phones and hung up while still talking and asking about availability. Take your money elsewhere here in Eugene. Rooms are not sanitized, so bring your own cleaners, so you won’t get COVID-19. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Acceptable accoms in Eugene
Oct 3rd, 2020
Well located hotel on the river bank in Eugene. Rooms are fine. Main complaint is that the place is dated and could really use refurbishment. We only used takeaway from the restaurant because of COVID, but is was fine. They have a really nice river balcony for dining, but it was closed when we were there due to poor air quality (wildfires), inside restaurant a little gloomy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
