AVOID room numbers 220+

Aug 14th, 2019

I’ve stayed here before and the hotel is in a great location with chic style. However, this visit I found the service less than attentive despite moments where they tried to shine. Thank you for the welcome note and free cocktail coupons (unused), it was a nice touch. The fact my headboard in my room backed to the fitness gym was simply unacceptable. I had two lousy nights sleep and my call to the front desk went ignored. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely room but a few things to improve

Aug 12th, 2019

My husband booked me a room when my friends were in town. Check-in was a breeze with the friendly front desk (tho they should let ppl pay online/by phone. They only charge a card physically at the hotel. How do we book/pay for friends/family?) Room was lovely, partial sea view was beautiful. I went out and came back 1am. Realised there was no drinking water, only Evian tagged $9 each. Rang the front desk to see if it’s really the case. No answer. Odd, for a hotel. In the morning, I rang and spoke to a guest officer J: Gd morning. I’d like to know if there’s really no complimentary water in the room? G: Unfortunately we don’t offer complimentary water in the room J: Really? This is the first hotel I’ve stayed in that has no complimentary water in the room G: I’m sorry to hear that (I waited, expecting her to offer a solution. She didn’t) J: Is it not possible to send some up? G: I need to check if the concierge is free (Minutes later) G: Yes he can J: Thank you Shocking I had to ask, and that the answer wasn’t an immediate yes. If it was a 3 star hotel, I wouldn’t have such expectations but it was a $500++ room. Also, no room slippers are provided, so bring your own if you need them. But the concierge gentleman who sent 3 bottles of water and looked after my bags after I checked out, was a gem. Did I enjoy my stay? Yes, the bed was comfortable, I slept well, enjoyed the view & location. Would I return? For the price & that lack of feeling completely looked after, probably not. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Could be better

Aug 12th, 2019

We stayed three nights at Viceroy, The hotel is nicely placed close to Santa Monica pier and Venice beach however. After finding out tha they tried to charge us for an already prepaid visit we had quite a bad experience from the staf at the reception that did not do anything to check if our statement was correct, rather they vere quite ignorant and impied we were wrong. We had to call back overseas to our agency toget it cleared. After several calls they finally took the burdon to do a thorough check of their files and found our record. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Noise! Noise! Noise!

Aug 10th, 2019

Unless you are looking for an Ibiza clubbing experience do not stay in this hotel on a Saturday. Poolside area was taken over by a loud and obnoxious DJ, making it hard to hold a conversation and forcing many couples to leave. Requests to reduce the volume were met with a shrug of the shoulder. Bathrooms are dated with cracked sink. I will not be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The rooms need updating and are over priced for what you get. This is more like a 3-4 star hotel. Pool only has a few chairs in the sun by mid afternoon. Then everything in the shade. If you want to be only in santa monica location good. But we were going to beverly hills and hollywood for dinners and it's not convenient location. Bikes they provide are nice. Overall very expensive for what you get. For an extra $100 a night could have stayed at the four seasons in beverly hills. Also, after bike ride asked for a water bottle and they didn't have it. But an hour later when checking out they had a water bottle to go. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
