This was our first time in Portugal and what an amazing time we had. The Hotel was lovely the staff were all lovely and they couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant did breakfast, lunch and evening meals which were all very nice. I'm usually fussy with food but couldn't fault it here. They have a snack bar serving food from 10am to 6pm which is situated by the out door pool area. The room we had was a double room and very nice, the lighting in the room was dimmed lighting but we didnt find that a problem. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future. We have just come home from here today & it’s a beautiful hotel. Very clean & tidy. Food was a bit of a challenge as I have 2 very fussy kids that said they loved the snack bar. After being an unfortunate customer of Thomas cook the hotel did us a fantastic deal on the price & upgraded our room for free. 2 members of staff really stood out tonny & a lady that worked in the snack bar with short black hair but unfortunately I didn’t get her name. I wanted a week of total relaxation & that’s exactly what I got. Fantastic pool area & indoor pool & jacuzzi. Can’t fault the hotel & would 100% go back 😊😊😊 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
1 week stay
Sep 21st, 2019
Me and my husband have recently just come back from staying at Vila Galé Nautico after staying there for a week for my husbands birthday. First Impressions: The outside of the hotel was well presented and clean. The reception area feels dark and not very well lit however it is clean. We were greeted by a nice girl on reception who explained all of the facilities to us and provided us with a list of all inclusive times and a map of the area etc. Room: The room is clean but is fairly small. We had a double room which was essentially two twin beds pushed together which was okay for us as it meant it was bigger than a standard double bed. The lighting in the room is poor, in the day it’s absolutely fine however in the evening when it’s dark outside the room is really dingy and there’s not much lighting at all. There were a few lamps in the main area and then a light by the room door but it wasn’t providing enough light to light the room properly. I would recommend taking a travel mirror or an extension lead with you as there weren’t any plugs comfortably close to the mirror in the room and so for myself straightening my hair in the mirror was tricky. I took my own hairdryer too as the ones in hotels are never the best and that was also tricky as I couldn’t get close enough to the mirror to see what I was doing. Each day the towels were changed, the bedding was changed and 2 bottles of still water and a bottle of sparkling were put in the fridge if needing to be replaced. The bathroom was average. Our bath was a bit stained and one evening the shower water was coming out brown and dirty and I had to stop mid shower. We ran it for a bit and eventually it turned clear again. We had a pool view room which we paid extra for and it was worth it. Air con in the room was good and you could change the temperate. Facilities: The hotel had an outdoor pool with a small children’s pool. There was an indoor pool where you had to wear a swimming cap that can be bought from reception. There was also a jacuzzi inside. The hotel also had a gym and a massage room. We each had a massage which was good. The massages were on special offer and although it was good, I wouldn’t have paid the full price of €70.00 for it. The hotel also had a shop on site which was very small. All Inclusive: All food and drink was included in the all inclusive however the all inclusive stopped at 23:00pm and after that time you’d need to pay for your drinks so if you’re one of those that like to stay up really late and enjoy the drinks you’ve already paid for, tough. You’ll need to pay for them again after 23:00pm (not an issue for us as we were in bed for 22:00pm most nights!). Restaurant/food: The main restaurant was okay. There wasn’t a huge amount of choice as the actual food section was rather small however the food thy was put out was really good quality and very tasty. I’m a fussy eater and so I struggled but that’s my own doing! There was a section where meat or fish was freshly cooked in front of you. During the week there wasn’t a single chicken breast cooked. It was all fish or pork and on one day it was steak. The fruit was gorgeous - especially the pineapple which was really fresh and juicy. Sometimes the food was a bit cold. The snack bar was really good. Options include sandwiches or burgers etc and everything comes with fries and the service is very fast. You can also get ice cream from the snack bar. You can get beer, soft drinks, slushes and milkshakes from the snack bar too. Staff: Reception staff were really friendly and helpful. Cleaners (when we saw them) were pleasant. Thomas Cook reps appeared friendly. The snack bar staff were smiley and quick. The bar staff were friendly. The main restaurant staff we struggled with. The chefs were great however the youngish girl at the front by the restaurant entrance (who wasn’t always the one greeting you in) was, in our opinion, rude. She didn’t smile, didn’t even look up when taking your room number. Didn’t sound happy to be there. She didn’t set a good tone at all - she always seemed pissed off!!! Also in the main restaurant, throughout our whole stay, we were only offered a drink at our table once. This annoyed us somewhat as we could see many of the other diners being offered drinks. We resulted in getting our own drinks. They were quick to take our empty plates though. Weather: For September, we were very happy with the weather. For the majority of our stay it was hot and sunny apart from the last day which rained. Area: The area is really lovely. Close to the beach and some local little shops. You can get a small train around the area for €3.50 which is worthwhile. We got off at the beach and did a little bit of shopping and stopped for an ice cream and it was really pleasant. Other points: On my husbands birthday the hotel provided us with some champagne and some dipped strawberries which they brought the room which was a really lovely touch. Slide and Splash and Zoomarine is definitely worth a visit. We also went to the Gypsy Market on an excursion and this was a good experience. The Vilamoura Marina was also a lovely place although you only get 40 mins here and you could do with longer. The Algarve Shopping centre was good however I just wanted to sit out in the sunshine and felt a visit here wasted the day because you could just shop at home in the same shops. The Old Town in Albufeira was also a lovely day out. Lots of little shops and music being played in the street. You can use UBER over in Portugal or can use another taxi company called Bolt (which is much cheaper) and we used these services many times when going on trips and they were very reliable and so much easier and cheaper than the local taxis. Overall: Overall I would say this hotel was a nice little place to stay however I wouldn’t rush to book back here. We didn’t complain about any issues we had as we spoke to another couple whilst we were there who told us they’d complained several times about the same problems we had and nothing had been done and that no one seemed to care so we didn’t bother. I’d love to visit Portugal again as the place was lovely but just not the same hotel. It just wasn’t the same standard as other 4* hotels I’ve stayed at in other countries previously although mostly it was pleasant and we both had a good time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
What a lovely hotel

This is a lovely friendly hotel, staff are helpful and food is top notch from breakfast to dinner. The snack bar is also good for drinks and light snacks. The hotel is really only 2 minutes walk to beach which is golden sandy beach. A brilliant coastal walk which is about 12 miles. The tour to the gypsy market and harbour could be better if it was a 50/50 split between both as the market isn’t really all that to be honest, it’s a bit like and local Sunday market but with sunshine. The town it’s self is nice as all the locals come out in the evening. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Hotel and Entertainers!
Sep 21st, 2019
We stayed for a week, the hotel was clean and the rooms were good size. We really enjoyed our stay due to the entertainers, without the entertainment team we would have been bored and struggled to find activities to do. The food in the hotel is okay, the snack bar is better but there needs to be more choice in the main restaurant. The entertainers made all of the difference. You can clearly say they are running around trying their best. Natalia Abbie and Megan were the ones that spoke to us at the most. We took part in various games such as archery basketball and the quizzes were our favourite, they always made us smile and would get us involved within the activities. However, I think it is a shame that we do not get to socialise with them on their breaks in the restaurant. I think this is a missed opportunity to talk to staff and ask about excursions and entertainment for the evening. All in all, a reasonable stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
