Not what it used to be

We have been coming to Loreto for about 8 years and specifically Villa del Palmar because we’re members. This trip was by far our least favorite of all of our stays. Apparently, management has changed in the last 2 years and it shows. The days of superb customer service and perks for being a member are pretty much gone. The staff used to go out of their way to play with the kids and treat guests like you’re royalty. Now, it’s all about the money. They nickel and dime you for everything. The food is mediocre and expensive. You better get your happy hour drink order in before 5 because at 5:01 you will be told your too late. The staff expects tips and will blatantly ask for them... and it is clearly stated in the website that tips are included in your stay. We had to do our member update, which they now call a workshop... lol, and we were basically told that because we were satisfied with our current status and did NOT want to become an elite member that we were not worthy of their time. We will probably come back because we love the town and the beach but may stay elsewhere. It is not worth being a member!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our stay was wonderful. The views are spectacular and the sunsets are incredible. SPA-clean, relaxing and the services were great. You also have access to the hydrotherapy area which I highly recommend using after a massage or facial! SNORKELING-the BEST excursion I have ever been on. Our guide, Paul, was incredible. We saw over 300 dolphins and snorkeled in 3 different areas. It felt like we were in a giant aquarium because the water was so clear and beautiful fish were everywhere you turned. FOOD-Casa Mia was our favorite restaurant. Lots of fresh fish, yummy tacos and fresh pasta dishes. The pizza was also really great! Bonito and Tulio were our primary servers and they were very attentive, friendly and made our experience so enjoyable! We will definitely be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This was our first trip to Loreto and it showed us such a different side of Mexico -- serene, beautiful, just stunning all around. The resort too was outstanding. Multiple pools, direct access to the beautiful bay, chairs and fire pits to take in the gorgeous sunsets and more. The staff across the board were a true pleasure. Specifically, Emmanuel at the Market Restaurant who bent over backwards for us and Gerardo at Danzante who prepared the most stunning setting for my mom's birthday dinner. The spa was amazing. My husband raved about the golf, especially the 17th hole. Will be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Villa del Palmar is a first class experience. The resort is absolutely beautiful and the attention to detail was impressive in terms of the layout, and quality of the resort. It is secluded with picturesque views on the Sea of Cortez. The thing that reallly stands out is the service. The staff is so friendly and bends over backwards to make sure you are taken care of. This is not a place to go if you are looking for nightlife. The nearest town is 45 minutes away and does not have the typical bars/restaurants of other destinations. Some of the people that stood out were Liz who is the concierge manager. She is wonderful. Very helpful and interested in making sure you have a great time. Manny who works the pool was amazing - super attentive and on the ball. And Angie, hostess at Casa Mia restaurant. She was fantastic! She was so friendly and attentive and made you want to come back each and eveyr night. She was so gracious and polite and created a wonderful first impression! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
