Extremely nice hotel! Only negatives were the bed and the parking fee.

Dec 8th, 2019

The attention to detail at this hotel was spot on! I loved the decor of every part of it. Our room was very pretty! I loved that there were plenty of outlets all over the room! The built in reading lights onto the headboard were nice. The bathroom was plenty big and I loved the large shower! The hair dryer that was provided was excellent and I loved the samples of facial products. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean. My only complaint was that the bed was too firm for me. But that’s my own preference. I did not sleep well. The high parking fee was WAY too steep in my opinion. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disrupted sleep and unsafe practices

Dec 5th, 2019

This property is nicely renovated and conveniently located, with friendly staff and great food. However I had two MAJOR problems during my stay that will prevent me from ever staying there again. Problem #1: The walls are super thin. Some type of music playing kept me up all night the first night there. MORE concerning Problem #2: I had several problems during my stay at the W Atlanta this week. (FYI, the confirmation code is 80470061 but my account is not yet displaying my stay). On the first night, I could hear music playing all night long through the very thin walls and this was very disruptive to my sleep. Much more concerning was my experience this morning - at 7 am while I was still sleeping, I was woken up by knocks on what I thought was a neighboring room's door (given that I know the walls are super thin). A minute later, I heard my door opening and I jumped out of bed and said "Excuse me" and the person apologized and closed my door. I called the front desk to see if there was a reason they sent someone to my room and I was told that this was a "routine procedure" that the maintenance engineer performs to go do preventative maintenance on rooms (at 7am?!!!). I was extremely upset that they sent someone to my room so early in the morning when I was not due to check out until 11 am, and while the person at the front desk apologized, his only explanation was that this is a routine procedure and since the maintenance engineer knocked, he thought the room was vacant. This is an inappropriate policy that needs to be changed to ensure that a guest has checked out before they send employees knocking on doors of occupied rooms early in the morning. I have shared my feedback with Marriott corporate, and hopefully they can change this practice and allow guests to comfortably and safely stay at this hotel! (And I will ALWAYS remember to double bolt my door from now on!) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Tilex to the Rescue!!!

Nov 19th, 2019

I had stayed here several years ago and did not have a positive experience. Recently in town for one night and decided to try again. The valet and front check in were great, super friendly. Love the modern decor. The rooms are comfortable though on the smaller side and bathroom could be better (needs sliding door). I am only giving it 3 stars (would do 2.5 if an option) for cleanliness. My shower was gross. Lots of mold between tiles and under the grab bar. Just didn’t get clean feeling (see photo). I’ll stick to the Grand Hyatt or Intercontinental. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not what I expect of a W

Nov 14th, 2019

First... don't stay on the 11th floor! The roof top bar is immediately above you! We listened to a dance party that shook our room until 3AM. That along with bad synthetic pillows and stiff mattresses - not restful in the least. The bathroom window and glass door are weird and put light into the bedroom - another sleep distractor. The hallway noise flows into your room as if we were at a 3-star hotel. The restaurant in the hotel was also terrible. The only saving grace was that the staff were very nice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overall great experience, but one MAJOR security concern!!

Nov 9th, 2019

I have stayed at this W several times before. The renovations are great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean and comfortable. That has not changed. However, I AM seriously concerned about the level of training for the staff. As a petite female traveling alone -- this was all the more concerning. As I was completing the check-in process AND after the clerk handed me my keycard with room number,, I asked when the bellman would be bringing my bags up. The clerk replied that it would be soon, and added the question: "Room 425, right?." I know this is a HUGE no-no regardless of who the guest is, but it is especially concerning for a female traveling alone. Now granted, there were only 3-4 people in the lobby within earshot -- but that should not matter. Staff should NEVER say the room number aloud out of concern for their guests' safety. While I believe this to be an honest mistake, it's a reflection of a lack of adequate training on the part of a high-end hotel. This major concern is the basis for my lower rating. Having this experience makes me wonder in what other aspects security training is lacking. Although I enjoyed the stay overall, I'll think twice before going back by myself, if at all.
