Nice but a disconnect

I just returned from a five day stay at this property. My first time here however as Bonvoy Gold, have plenty of experience with the W and sister properties. Our room was nicely appointed however the lighting was poor (a common W Hotel problem I thought was being addressed quite some time ago.). On day 3 we had to actually request our shower gel and soap be replenished. We returned at the end of this day to find a bag full of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotions sitting on the bathroom counter. We really just wanted soap to shower. Found the bag full (and our having to request) very thoughtless. We did hang towels up after bathing. Not once were we re-stocked with towels as an option however. Basically housekeeping made the bed and did nothing else. There is a Nespresso maker in the room which we hadn’t used for a couple days. The morning of our fourth day we did. Got back that evening and housekeeping hadn’t replenished the pods. I went to the front desk and asked for more. I was told these would be brought up immediately. After waiting to go to sleep for 45 minutes I gave up and put a note on the door asking these be left. No one ever showed up. The plate on the key sensor of our door fell off whenever we opened it. We reported this mid stay. It was never addressed. The picture below is of a glass of wine left on a table near elevators on the 21st floor where is sat for 4 days. Dining comments. We ate breakfast in the restaurant each morning and ordered off the menu. We were pleased with the food. Our wait staff was terrific each morning. Three evenings we ate dinner in the lounge. First night all was good. Service was good. Second time, Morgan was our waitress and she was very attentive. However had to wait close to 45 minutes for identical salads and then when they came out, one was not what we ordered. Our last evening eating there was pretty much the same. The lounge is the only dinner option at this time in the hotel. There are a very limited number of tables, instead there are chairs with side tables and couches with coffee tables. These options make eating very difficult. Every staff member we came into contact with was just as pleasant as the next. There is no attention to detail and quite a disconnect between the start and the finish in this property. The only reason I gave a rating of 3 is because of the friendliness of the staff. I will not be returning to this property. My expectations are typically low in general as it really doesn’t take much to please me. W Hotel Midtown fell far below my already low expectations TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Missed the mark

I am a Gold Elite Bonvoy member and from the minute I stepped foot into the W Midtown Atlanta, I could tell something was off. The lobby and bar area are well decorated, but I found the lack of attention to detail by the staff very disappointing. The only saving grace was a woman in the bar area named Quincy who quite literally saved the day by making sure I had a good meal after hours of travel and two failed plates at the bar ,(do not order the hummus and do not in 1 million years ever order the Pho as the cook on duty, not the head chef, had no idea how to make it). Quincy caught on to this and immediately took away the Pho which was really not Pho. She was the only staff member I had who was cordial and kind and seemed to really care about guests and have a deep understanding of the work of hospitality. I interacted with only 3 other staff and everyone just seemed to be more into what they were wearing than actual hospitality. The rooms were not up to W standards in my opinion and overall I just felt the hotel lacked the glam appeal of other Ws I have visited. Maybe it is just the Midtown location, but I didn't feel well taken care of or that there was any excitement from the staff to want to care for the guests. Maybe they are all waiting for a mega star to walk in? IDK, but the little people who are there day in and day out deserve a decent level of hospitality. Thank goodness for Quincy! She put a smile on my face for what was an otherwise lackluster experience. I wanted the stay to be special because I was treating my bff to a staycation while passing through Atlanta, but we both felt we could have just as easily stayed at her place for what we received. Overall, it just didn't feel wow or special. Meanwhile, I am back in Panamá at the W where the staff are outstanding and I walked into my super spotless room with a dog bed and bowls. The staff here goes above and beyond and every detail is attended to. Sorry Atlanta Midtown, but you missed the Mark entirely. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Seamless and stylish hotel stay!

Took a staycation to the W Atlanta Midtown mid-December and it was glorious! Our favorite parts were the gorgeous Living Room bar + outdoor terrace, the extremely relaxing spa treatments, cozy room with a view and the very accommodating staff! Very clean + instagrammable! Oh, can't forget, the truffle fries are to die for, along with the expansive menu options and cocktails. 100% recommend if you're traveling to ATL or simply want to take a staycation in your own city! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nothing short of an amazing stay

My girlfriend and I stayed at the W Midtown just before Christmas and we had an absolute blast! Dervin at check-in made our stay a 10 out of 10!!! From beginning to end he made sure everything was perfect and I couldn't ask for more!! The layout of the hotel is outstanding and we can't wait to go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Filthy rooms. Beautiful lobby/common area.

We went for the LSU v. OU playoff game. I got a suite - room 2607 - a disappointment is an understatement. Problems: 1. Water left in coffee maker, coffee stained cups -- who knows for how long it was like that. Woof. 2. Debris, dirt, sweat on bath tub edge. 3. Mildew in bath tub jets - I cleaned and filled tub up and mildew literally came out of the jets. Vomit. 4. Control panel for jaccusi busted - see photo. 5. Stains on carpet -- there are legit stains on the carpet in multiple obvious places. I didn't event want to walk around barefoot in the room. 6. Cigarette burn on bath tub. There are more - like how the shower has different color grout mixed with mildew in the shower. Or maybe how the toilet seat screws are rusted and gross. But if those 5 didn't do it for you and you still want to stay, nothing else I say will be helpful. W Hotels -- Do. Better. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
