Fantastic getaway!

Apr 5th, 2021

The Waimea Plantation Cottages were a welcome change after this past year. My wife and I just love the atmosphere there. The cottages are clean and seem to take you back in time for a while. :) We are not ones for real fancy resorts, just like to be able to relax and unwind. Waimea Plantation Cottages are wonderful for a stay-cation (like we did) or anyone that comes to Hawai`i and want to get away from the fast pace of daily life. This was not our first time staying there, and it certainly won't be our last. We took advantage of the restaurant on property instead of cooking in the cottage. We went with the recommendation from the front desk as we just wanted a small dinner and tried the pizza at Da Pizza Place, it was the best pepperoni pizza I have had in a very long time. The Idyllic Waimea Plantation Cottages

Mar 5th, 2021

Having lived on, and known Kauai, for decades, we have always thought highly of Waimea Planation Cottages on Kauai's 'Sunny West Side.' But with Covid travel restrictions keeping us from world travels we recently did a 'staycation' and went to other side of our island, to celebrate my birthday. We liked "the Cottages" in the past, as it is peaceful and tropical and serene, but after this stay we grew to LOVE it! The cottage we had was gorgeous, well maintained, as quaint and Hawaiian as could be, and right near the water. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The entire experience was so pleasant that we already rebooked another stay in the near future. If coming to Kauai and you want peace and quiet and wish to get a feel for 'Real Hawaii' (not just some standardized resort hotel) then I would Strongly recommend booking a stay at Waimea Plantation Cottages. You'll still have all the amenities, but will feel like you've stepped back in time, to the quaint, peaceful Hawaii of 100 years ago. As a long-time local on Kauai, I'd suggest the Cottages as a Must See/Stay. And while you're there, drive up to see the Waimea Canyon, the Kalalau Valley overlook, and go for one of the many hikes available at Ke'e. But bring a jacket or sweater, it gets cool at 4,000 ft. The views are stupendous! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A bit of old Kauai

Jan 29th, 2021

The Waimea Plantation cottages are exactly that — former cottages for the plantation workers. Our cottage was rustic but extremely clean and comfortable. It included a full kitchen, coffee maker, blender, toaster and microwave. Since this was a vacation for me, I did not use any of the actual cooking facilities, except for the coffee maker and microwave. There was bottled water in the fridge and two packages of Kauai Cookies, along with shell leis and a Waimea Plantation Cottages tote — all nice touches. We had an ocean-front cottage, and loved hearing the waves and watching for whales (although sadly we didn’t see any) from our lanai. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were large, soft and plentiful, including two beach/pool towels. The only problem we had was that the stay wasn’t long enough! We shall return!
