Dirty and badly managed

Feb 24th, 2020

We came to check in early at 2:30 to confirm on our stay and also room type. Came back at 4:00. They assigned us first room with the wrong room type, a double bed instead of king bed. Came downstairs wait another 30 minutes until they gave us a second room. The second was cleaned and beds made, however the room smells like urine. Old urine, like public bathrooms. I wasn’t exaggerating, the cleaning lady and another man confirmed the smell by saying “ what the f***” and asked me to talk to front desk again. Waited another 30 minutes , assigned me to the third room. By now is 6:00. The 3rd room is the correct size, no urine smell this time, but smelled very strongly of bleach. We tried to air it out however the window doesn’t open. Floor is sticky with black mark , I mopped around and it is really really dirty. Also found a pc of eaten fruit at the corner floor while mopping. 4 people working at the front checking people in and out while taking towels and bringing people’s luggage. Constantly a crowd of people waiting be serviced. By this time all of the people working at the front desk already lost their clam facial expression at 2:30c they look super worried and frustrated. I am also tired and pissed off. Never never come back here again. So far seen 3 rooms. Ironically the most clean and nice room is the cheapest room which we asked to get upgraded from because the bed was too small. The rest two rooms with king sized bed are dark with windows looking out to a wall that is 1.5 meter away, no sun. Again, floor is sticky. I am very very very unhappy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The most mismanaged hotel I've ever visited! DO NOT BOOK HERE

Feb 23rd, 2020

This is the most mismanaged hotel I've ever visited and that is extremely disappointing considering the room cost and the resort fee that we had to pay to stay. We had a room with a 4 person occupancy and were only given 2 bath towels -- nothing else -- no hand towels, no wash clothes, no bath mat. When we asked for more we were told that they didn't have any! The following day we asked for some again 4 different times and we still didn't get any until 6pm. Our room was never cleaned the entire trip. The room was dirty to begin with – with mold around the sink and stains on the chair. We even found some kind of pill on the floor! We asked to speak to the manager many times but were told he was on a conference call - despite the fact there was a very long line of people complaining to the front desk about all manner of things. There seemed to simply be a shortage of cleaning staff and no one could check into their rooms without them being cleaned. While the front desk employees tried to calm people down, it was apparent that they had no control of over the issues. At one point, hotel staff were handing out beach towels to many different guests who also had no room towels. The property itself has great amenities and is in a wonderful location. However, you pay a hefty resort fee for those amenities - many of which were not always available like the bicycles. The issues seemed to be with management and maid service. I will never stay here again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good and Bad

Feb 22nd, 2020

Just returned from a short break in this hotel with mixed views. Firstly, the location is great, being on Washington Avenue/11th and just two blocks from Ocean Drive. Check-in was a trial as reception is permanently packed. We were told that our reservation was for two nights and not the four we’d booked. It was eventually sorted as the receptionist had checked us in against the wrong name. All resolved fairly quickly (even though I had two separate charges held on my credit card, I assume the wrong one will just fall off). We were told that our room was not ready as check-in was 4pm, even though our paperwork said 3pm When we were finally given our key, there was no explanation as to its location so we wandered around confused until a hotel employee told us we were not even in the correct building (the hotel is spread across four separate buildings) The room was substandard and disappointing. There was mould on the window frame and the plastic window frosting was peeling off (not happy that the windows were frosted anyway as it meant you couldn’t see out). The bathroom still had the previous occupants’ empty toiletries. To the manager’s credit, the issue was resolved and we were moved to a far better room, which we were very happy with. This was after we’d left the matter with the receptionist who told us to go and have food whilst she looked into the problem. Two hours later and the receptionist hadn’t done anything and so the manager was called to resolve. The corridor could do with a once over by a vacuum cleaner and continually smelled of cannabis. The pool is fine but has far too few loungers so was always full. On some days there were no towels available. This seems to be a continual issue with the hotel as we were only provided with a single hand towel, in our room, on one of our days and had to use a bath towel the rest of the times. All that said, it’s a beautiful Art Deco hotel. We loved Miami Beach for the laid back vibe and heat. There are plenty of competitive choices for food and drink (not exactly haut cuisine) but we would absolutely recommend booking lunch at the Versace mansion, Vila Casa Casuarina, (set three-course menu at $29 each plus tax) or dinner for those with fatter wallets. 2,5 stars hotel

Feb 22nd, 2020

Hotel is very poor, the pool is small and not nice, lobby is very dark, there are just 2 lamps. We stayed in suite corner room, it was old and looks dirty, even they cleaned room every day. Seems like they never vacuum room and hall. Finally they provide hole towels and sheets. Only location is good - near police station and 2 blocks from the beach and Versace house. This is my second time

Feb 21st, 2020

So, I visited the WPH in 2018 and I returned December of 2019 for Christmas. Last time there were may hiccups but the customer service was outstanding so I wanted to give them another try as they had encouraged in my first review. I have to say this time was much better and I appreciated the efforts of the staff to make my stay special. Shout out to Kay she was amazing and so helpful. My room was upgraded and the room was comfortable and clean. The location is amazing you really cannot beat it. Overall it is a very good hotel. The hallways smell yes and the room was not cleaned everyday but the good did out way these thiings. It is a great place to stay with a wonderful staff and an amazing location. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
