Amazing Staff and Service

We were in town for a half marathon and all the events around that so we didn’t get to fully take in all the greatness of this hotel. My daughter and I both used the eucalyptus steam which was wonderful. The room was spacious and clean - view was not that great but it is a city. The staff and service was simply amazing - every single employee we came across was so kind and helpful. The nightly turn down service was an unexpected treat after long days of walking and exploring the city. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We spent two nights on our way to the Discovery islands. The staff is wonderful. The lounge is a great place to have a drink and a light bite. The table spacing is perfect - not too close. The server remembered our drink order from the previous evening! The location is great you can walk to shopping and restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Service

Great service - they do what they say. And they’re kind - they must have hired the nicest Canadians (pretty sure most Canadians are nice) in Vancouver. And one small thing - the water in the bathrooms seems to be soft (meaning minerals are removed through a water softening process) so it feels so silky, smooth and great. Love that extra touch! Great Location, Great little hotel, although some in-house training needed

We picked the Wedgewood from Tripadvisor reviews. It's situated right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. So, a great location for shopping, restaurants and for walking around the city. We booked a deluxe king room facing Robson Square that had a lovely little sunny spot balcony. I believe all the rooms in the hotel have balconies. There is a busy road usually with constant traffic, between the hotel and Robson Square. However, you have to expect that in the heart of any large city. The hotel staff were all very friendly, except for one waiter who maybe was having a bad day. However, like every hotel, they will always be some issues and the Wedgewood is no different. Okay, here we go, although it's not a big issue, the first one is about 5 star doorman protocol. We arrived by taxi and as I was speaking to the driver, the door opened and a hand shot in with the welcome to the Wedgewood. That's nice, maybe a Canadian thing, however, would be better protocol if the doorman opened the cab door and waited for me to finish speaking to the driver and actually get out of the cab first. Then when I got out and was speaking to my wife, the doorman stood right next to us, if he was part of our conversation. Where he should of been, was by the hotel door entrance, waiting for us. So a little in-house training on doorman etiquette and discreetness is called for here when guests arrive. The other issue and a little larger, is room service. Up came our continental breakfast with bread rolls and croissants, but without butter or jams it was late and we were going out so just mentioned it to reception. Next day, no bread rolls or croissants came up, what came was 2 chocolate chip cookie muffins and told, sorry, the kitchen (a 5 star hotel we are talking about) has run out of bakery items. Funny though, it came this time with lots of butter and jams, really don't know what they thought how we were gong to use it on choc chip muffins. Maybe, if they think out of the box and sent toast instead. Complained about it to restaurant manager Farouk (believe that's his name) and he offered us complementary breakfast next day. Well done to him, very professional in sorting out an issue. Next morning I ordered salmon, scrambled egg on muffin. What came from the award winning kitchen was a mini round omelette on a rubbery flat breaded muffin with a bit of salmon on top. Yes, I could or should of complained, however, we were going out to meet someone and it was very late, at the end of breakfast sitting with no one was around at the time. At the end of our trip as our anniversary was on that day I fancied to surprise in treating my wife to a lovely afternoon tea. This was advertised on the in-room hotel TV, info page, only to be told, sorry, only available certain times of the year. I said then why don't you take it of your hotel info and website page, surely its unfair to your guests to believe the hotel still offers it. Oh, its to hard to delete they said, but the Fairmount hotel down the road still does it. I won't spill the beans to what member of staff told me this. To be truthful, for a top 5 star award winning downtown hotel, clearly these issues, however, small should not happen. I have to say, the location, friendly staff and the only hotel downtown I could see that has rooms with balconies, so, expect I would stay here again. However, one star off for the hotels fault that I could not surprise my wife and treat her on our anniversary afternoon tea. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Birthday Bliss

I recently stayed at the Wedgewood as a gift for my birthday from a friend from the moment I arrived the service was impeccable, like nothing I had experienced before at any other high-end hotel. The attention to detail And the care and attention from each staff member no matter what role they were in was impactful, memorable and brought joy. We also dined at Bacchus which continued our delight with the wonderful service to the spectacular food and cocktails. I am already planning my next stay. I think it will be a new tradition TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
