Wonderful Stay; A Few Comments

Sep 8th, 2019

Due to Hurricane Dorian and the time of year the hotel was almost empty. The location is not downtown but there is a fairly convenient shuttle. Service, at all levels from management to waiters to maintenance to clerks, was extremely conscience and good. As an aside, because of our Marriott level we were upgraded to a lake view room which turned out to be more of a parking lot view. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No hairdryers, odd smell, and allergens galore

Aug 25th, 2019

I typically do not stay at Marriott’s but for this work trip it was required but for the same price I recommend the Hilton across the street. This Marriott is difficult to enter depending on where you’re driving from and if it’s during a busy time forget about doing it quickly. The front desk staff is incredibly personable and friendly but my room doesn’t have a hair dryer and (I generally travel with one but forgot it and didn’t worry about it because it’s 2019 and who doesn’t have hair dryers now?) and on top of that is smells super odd. Bright side is there is s fridge and coffee maker and the bed is comfortable. Excellent water pressure, actually bordering on too powerful but I’d rather have the pressure than try and wash my hair in dribbling water. There is not a ton of parking but I never had issues finding a spot. I did not eat or drink anything there but the restaurant downstairs was always packed. The elevators and halls have no ac so just be warned it’s hot and smelly in them in the South Florida weather. I also had to take a Claritin each night when I got in my room because there was something in there that irritated my sinuses but ehh that’s life in South Florida this time of year. Overall not a bad hotel but certainly not one I’d book over and over and over again for fun. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not Perfect - But Trying

Aug 17th, 2019

Was waiting for my Marriott survey, but I never received one...so I will say this on TA. Spouse and I flew in on a Friday 8/2 for a wedding (in Stuart) stayed till Monday. I am Titanium Elite (which basically means I travel too much) and got "upgraded" to the top floor with a king bed. Like another reviewer, I was disappointed the Concierge lounge was completely closed off for the weekend. I would suggest to management at least keeping it accessible for coffee, soda, water, limited cold snacks and a place to sit. Room was very clean. My limited interaction with maid services was positive more coffee - towels, no problem with a smile. Highlights: Lounge area was far better than expected Ashley, James (Tall Texan) made great cocktails. Want to thank Asia, (Concierge level lounge Monday Morning) for proactively going out of her way to see if we needed something when she was already engaged in a task and her grabbing a bag of chips out of the back for my wife for the plane flight when she saw we were looking for something. New paragraph for the biggest surprise at breakfast. Saturday went to breakfast we had a very good server (Rima) - breakfast was fine but cost us $25-30 with tip. Next day we went down ready to order the same. Rima sees us, and comes over and says “welcome back, you were here yesterday. Your platinum elite…” I smile and say “OK” (not really thinking its anything more than her repeating the Marriott mantra – but still very impressed she remembered us, and surprised she knew my status, not having discussed it the day before. She goes on to say we were entitled to free buffet breakfasts. My words don’t convey it, but I was stunned that after a full shift in a busy restaurant, she would remember us the next day, and then go out of her way to be sure we knew we were eligible for a free breakfast. THAT’S service…. We spent some time chatting with her. Spouse and I was loved her – a pleasure to talk to, and she just raised the whole bar for the overall weekend experience. Ended up speaking to the Jim the Server Manager, and his comanager (a very nice woman) about Rima with our compliments. Also want to emphasize ALL the staff in the restaurant -the including the gentleman making the omelets on Sunday (I believe he had a “Kitchen Supervisor” on his coat were very good and quick with a smile and a hello. Bottom line, while I was not thrilled with a wedding in August in Florida, the hotel and Rima did a very good job to make it a pleasant experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Safety concerns not addressed by management

Aug 2nd, 2019

I checked in as a titanium member and went to my room before meeting my party for drinks. The door opened and a housekeeping staff member looked at me with shock and then shut the door. She knocked and when I opened she said she was sorry and that she was refilling the coffee. I expressed to her my displeasure in her opening the door unannounced and that I was very upset and concerned about this property. I immediately went downstairs and addressed the issue with the front desk and they said they would communicate to management. I asked for a manager to contact me as I was getting angry at the lack of concern about this issue. I stayed for 2 nights and nobody ever contacted me about this incident. There are security in the lobby which is fine but when the staff is the issue- that causes more concerns when you cant address safety with internal employees. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nothing Special

Jul 30th, 2019

Let me start out by saying that the hotel, grounds and pool are fantastic. With that said, as a platinum member, this property fell short the concierge lounge isn’t open on weekends and there is no accommodation for that. I found this out by being denied access and asking the front desk. They said that because of the partners, it was closed. Nothing else. I told them I was looking for another water and a soda and they turned and said it was for purchase. Okay, hotel policy...maybe? I booked a king room and got 2 tiny beds, the shower barely drained (almost overflowed) and when I notified the desk of this, they couldn’t care less. The pool was very nice but the towels showed signs of dirt and stains and otherwise were off putting to lay on or dry off with. After a few more minor issues ( I’m not needy but expect certain things out of this brand) I was told that I could simply go to the bar and order food....room service was apparently backed up to the point that it would take hours. The bar was clean and the staff were friendly and I didn’t bother them with the issues. Again at check out I raised the issues and received a reply of “we will look into it” but have received no feedback. So no breakfast or even an extra water and certainly, nobody there cared about status. So here it is....if you are looking for an overpriced place to stay and treat like a motel 6, with a nice pool, this is the place for you. If you are on business and want the genuine Marriott experience....find another hotel TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
