A great stay - here’s some tips !

Sep 13th, 2019

Visited this hotel in July as a family with 2 adults and 2 children (aged 6 & 4). The hotel is located about a 5 minute drive from the Manhattan Beach & Pier, but it is in an industrial area. Don’t let that put you off though, as the views from the back of the hotel are over the golf course. The hotel has recently been modernised and whilst it is a Marriott, it doesn’t look like one. The design is light, fresh, airy, ‘beachy’, it’s a bit different for Marriott but we really liked it. The service was very good through-out. Highlights included good-size rooms, balconies, lots of activity games dotted around for kids (and adults !) to play, lots of activities planned (such as a movie nights by the pool), easy parking, plus my wife ordered a salad in the bar area and whilst small and (slightly) expensive for bar food, it was one of the best meals she has ever eaten ! Not so good points : Whilst the service was good by the pool, it is not really large enough for the hotel (so there was a shortage of loungers) and breakfast was far too expensive, even by LA standards. Tips for staying : You will need a car, but don’t waste money on the valet - the car park is right next door and attached to the hotel, so it is literally a 2 minute walk. The food was good, but there are restaurants within a short walk if you fancy a change, there several supermarkets within a few minutes drive, it’s easy to get to from the airport (no noise) and Manhattan Beach is lovely ! Would we go again/recommend ? Absolutely ! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good modern upscale Hotel

Stayed here for a business conference run over 4 days. So had a good while to appreciate the refurbishment into an Autograph Collection brand. Well positioned in Manhattan Beach to shopping malls restaurants and movie theatres all just 5 to 15 minute walks away in good safe precincts day and night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I learned to golf!

Sep 2nd, 2019

I only booked this hotel because it was close to Manhattan beach and it had grass to look at instead of concrete.I was so pleased with the minimalist decor and the high quality of the hotel, I will not stay anywhere else from now on.The outdoor area was lovely for my daughter and her dog to visit, with a nice fire pit at night and horseshoes.Buffet was pricey, but worth every cent..something for everyone in my family and the fruit was fresh. We stuffed ourselves at breakfast and were not hungry until dinner..I liked it so much, I played golf for the first time!! Special thanks to Maggie,Raphael, and Wendy at the front desk.Very courteous and treated me well from the getgo. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay!

Aug 30th, 2019

I recently spent four nights here attending a conference. We had a great stay. Check in and housekeeping staff seemed very friendly. We had a room on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the golf course. The room was spacious and the beds super comfortable. The bedding was lovely. Nice big bathroom. I found the air conditioning noisy but still slept like a baby. Food at the hotel was nice, but overpriced. Sadly, this is standard at most high end hotels. A toasted ham and cheese sandwich with a tiny side salad was $20 with tax and tip. A very short, easy walk (couple of minutes)from the hotel is an outdoor shopping centre with a Bristol Farm, CVS and a bunch of places to eat. Was $7-8 in a Lyft to Manhattan Beach Village It would be a pleasure to stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

As someone who travels extensively for work in the hotel industry I can often approach any hotel experience with a skeptical eye. I also do not often leave reviews unless I experience something special. I had the pleasure of staying here during a recent trip to CA. I stayed at several different hotels over almost a 2 week period but my stay at this property was the only memorable stay I had throughout the vacation. The property is ON POINT! The Bellman, Valet and Front Desk provided a warm welcome and excellent service throughout the stay. We sampled the Food and beverage options for dinner and were never dissappointed. The atmosphere is excellent the rooms were modern and clean and everyone we encountered were pleasant and friendly. There is a difference between providing OK service (which unfortunately has become the norm nowadays) and providing exceptional genuine hospitality service and that is what this hotel provided! Special mention to Eddie who I encountered on several occasions and who personally assisted me with several requests throughout my stay all without skipping a beat. Congrats to the management team for the training and leadership you are providing as it is evident that your employees buy into the service culture you appear to be creating. They do it well and they do it with a genuine smile and to me that is a difference maker. My hats off to the entire team of the Westdrift Manhattan Beach! You nailed it! I look forward to returning as I thouroughly enjoyed my time at your hotel and I wont be staying anywhere else when I am in town. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
