Terrible management

Aug 11th, 2020

Well first let me start off with the good! The hotel rooms itself are amazing!!!!! Very spacious! The property is beautiful. Beds and couches and VERY comfy!! That’s it though. Now the bad... We got checked in late Sunday night got to our room and put some water in the refrigerator and then went right to bed. Got up the next morning and realized the water wasn’t cold. We turned the temp on the refrigerator down. Thought all was good. We went grocery shopping got back and put everything away. Probably around 9:30pm we went into the freezer to get something out only to realize the whole refrigerator WASNT working. Called maintenance that night. They came up to fix it. Said it was fine. The next morning everything was melted and everything was hot. All our food was ruined. And None of management seemed to even care. And now let’s talk about the fights at the pool in front of my kids. The police were called and they did NOTHING. we had to rush our kids out of the pool and away from the escalating situation. Once back to our room we could still hear all the shouting yelling and vulgar language. Our 10 year old was scared to death and didn’t want to stay at the hotel. Very very dissatisfied ☹️ TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Off-strip Oasis

Feb 11th, 2020

Comfortable suites with jetted and jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces. Kitchens are well-equipped. Close to strip and conveniences. Definitely worth it! The front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating. The entrance is gated and staffed. We visit in the winter but there are many outdoor activities and games to take part in. Scorpion sting in bed!!

Jan 24th, 2020

A scorpion stung me 5 times while I was sleeping in the bed at Westgate Flamingo Bay resorts. (see pictures) I awoke and found it in the sheets with me, and captured it. Hotel security came and crushed it with pliers. The stings were excruciatingly painful for a couple days then the sting sites on my arm and leg became numb. I spoke with security and asked if this happens a lot and was told this happens approx. every 8 months. Westgate claims to have sprayed the room while I was at work and the following morning I found a second scorpion in the bathroom when I turned on the light. It appeared to be wandering perhaps affected by the spray. Westgate management was non-communicative and I had to reach out to them to find out the status of further room cleaning, which took me days. For the remaining 3 nights I slept in a sleeping bag on the couch with all the lights on. I am an engineer and worked in a very clean computer facility, so I had no exposure to scorpion environments outside the Westgate. This is the stuff of nightmares and horror movies, scorpions in bed with you!! Westgate comped me 1 days rent for 3 days of pain and sleeplessness. The reviews for the place are generally good but reading them I see others have encountered scorpions as well, if you value your personal safety look elsewhere. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Get a room in the back

Dec 26th, 2019

My boyfriend is a owner. The first night we were facing flamingo which is very busy. Thy gve us early check in and if we would stay n that room the first night thy would switch us. So ok. No sleep really, but the next morning we were switched to the back. Very quiet, update room downstairs. The rest of the vacation was ver nice. Your abt 15 min from the strip, but I used to live there so we only went to the strip twice. Once to Fargo to watch the fountains. Best place to see them, and we went to the Beatles which was excellent. Avg price to Belliago area $8-10 from hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Major renovations required

Dec 24th, 2019

I brought the family and friends here over Christmas expecting more than a Motel experience in regards to the villas (lol) provided. The entire room from furnishings to cleanliness needs much needed attention. The pictures provided by advertising leave off much. I will not go into but best to wait until they make renovations before booking a stay. We also attended a timeshare presentation and not for us. Very pushy and once we said no, we felt disrespected and pushed out the back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
