Beautiful location, hotel - but needs some work

Jul 27th, 2020

I love the history of this hotel. Growing up in the area, I always wanted to see this hotel return to the Grand Dame it once was. And for the most part that is what happened. Beautiful hotel restoration. It does need some maintenance work that is clearly lacking. The front area, porch the stone is loose and falling off - not a great 1st impression. Some of the public areas are just poorly maintained and cleaned constantly. (i.e. dirty ashtrays on the porch sitting areas, cushions on outdoor furniture dirty etc..) The curtains in the room would not open. They also did not provide room cleaning every day (But I think it may have been due to COVID). The hotel staff is very friendly, but at times they were no all wearing face coverings, which is a mandate in that area. It is fun to sit in the lobby area and have drinks. Great views, cocktails are reasonably priced and served by very personable bartenders. I will definitely stay at this hotel again, I just hope that they start paying attention to the details, which makes a big difference. Otherwise, we may see this grand fall into neglect again. Nice location

Stayed there one nigh. Room was ok but the curtains would not open. There was no place to get coffee in the morning. They have small coffee maker in room but not very good. The staff was not very helpful and a lot of the time no one at desk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Boutique Hotel...but needs some TLC in rooms and pool area.

Jul 9th, 2020

We chose to stay at this hotel for two nights during our two week honeymoon. We were right in the middle of the first outbreak of COVID so we understood that some of the amenities were limited. Let me start with the PROS: This is a beautiful historic property with a wonderful story. The story is told throughout the hotel with black and white photos of yester-year stationed up and down the hallways. We loved this. The interior design is breathtaking, especially the chandelier over the winding staircase. The upstairs outer deck with fire pit is fabulous. Make sure to seek it out. It's rather hidden. The location is superb as it faces Biloxi Beach and is within walking distance to downtown and the Beau Revage Casino. Lots of onsite parking. The rooms and bathrooms have been updated and some include fridge and microwaves. The exterior is majestic and of the southern type architecture for the area. Includes a large pool area. There is an onsite restaurant (Cora's) and it was open for dinner during our stay. Divine! A must try. The dining area has private booths with curtains! We loved this and the privacy that it afforded us. Food and service was excellent. I believe the chef waited on us! And he friendly, funny and even took our picture. So far so good...Now the CONS: The rooms were clean and tidy, however the bed mattress was extremely worn. My side of the bed had a VERY large divet from over use that I sunk into each and every night. This mattress needs replacing! Guests should not be sleeping on a mattress in this condition. The hotel provided luscious white robes, but they left us a robe with a large gaping hole right over the front left bodice. Not sure how housekeeping missed this, but it was unfortunate and left a bad impression. The pool area was nice but the lounge furniture and umbrellas were old, worn and needed replacing. No staff at the pool to give out towels etc...so we used towels from the room which was inconvenient. Overall, a decent stay, but some housekeeping issues need to be addressed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lacking in customer service skills and attention to details.

Jun 24th, 2020

The hotel was a disappointment. I paid for a Gulf View room. Received a 1st floor room with a view of a shrub and a tree. I specifically asked not to be on 1st floor. Desk attendant was unconcerned. We have stayed here three times and this time was lacking in all details. We drove down for my husband's birthday. The room was a big disappointment since we expected a view. Cora's being closed for breakfast did not help the stay. Amenities and cleanliness were lacking. Our favorite hotel is no longer our favorite. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Last minute weekend visit with 5-yr-old

Jun 1st, 2020

The hotel was great. Location great, across the street from a very quiet spot on the beach. Beds are in the firmer side with nice linens. Service was exceptional. Our little boy unintentionally caused us a bunch of inconvenience...and the desk crew, esp Miranda and Nikki, helped us unequivocally. I thank each of them, along with the housekeeping staff, very much! We shall be returning bc of their great service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
