Guests appreciate hotel's well-appointed rooms, historical ambiance and top-notch service
A stay here is expensive
This Williamsburg Inn has accommodations fit for a queen, literally – Queen Elizabeth II has stayed here more than once on state visits to Williamsburg, Virginia. But it's a delightful choice for commoners as well. Recent visitors particularly appreciated the Inn's personal touches, such as the available itineraries of daily activities in Colonial Williamsburg. Guests also rave about the exquisite accommodations, appointed with marble bathrooms, plush robes, complimentary Wi-Fi access and sleek flat-screen TVs. Though some guests bemoan the Inn's high price tags, others say the outstanding ambiance and service are well worth the cost. When dinnertime rolls around, consider having your evening meals in the Rockefeller Room to enjoy views of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course and to try delectable Southern-style fare. Prefer a more laid-back dining experience? Head to The Social Terrace.

Critic Reviews

Walk from the inn's back terrace to The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg for a swim in the indoor or outdoor pools, a workout in the gym or, of course, a relaxing treatment.

This Regency-style hotel was built in 1937 when Williamsburg was still being restored and it has hosted royalty and world powers. It treats all of its guests royally, too. The style is a little more ornate than the rest of Colonial Williamsburg: a few more tassels, a little more gilt, rich colors and patterns.

Travel + Leisure

The Regency-style main inn dates from 1937, with a new Sylvia Sepielli spa; easily the area's most atmospheric hotel.

Condé Nast Traveler

This 62-suite Colonial Revival hotel built by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1937 is hardly tired or stale: Rooms in shades of custard and pale blue are decorated in the early 19th century Regency style, with carved wooden tables and damask upholstered Queen Anne sofas lending real, refined elegance rather than revolutionary kitsch.

Rooms come with such perks as morning coffee and afternoon tea, a daily newspaper, turndown service, and bathrobes.
