Great room and a great price. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again if I’m ever back in the area! It’s off the beaten path, so there isn’t any riff raff around. Way better than other hotels in the area! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Poorly Managed Hotel
Jul 19th, 2020
This is a new hotel property, I figured staying here would be a safe bet. That was a bad assumption on my part. The first thing I noticed coming into the lobby was the the restaurant was closed. No mention of that anywhere on their website. I had no transportation to go to a restaurant (trucker, once the truck is parked that's where it stays and kind of hard to pull 67 feet of truck into a restaurant parking lot) and I didn't want to have to go anywhere since they have a restaurant promoted on their site. They do have breakfast - nothing different than you would find at many other major hotel chains - and they are charging you $8 for it. Not a big deal, the restaurant being closed was. Because of COVID-19, the indoor pool had a limit of people that could be in there. The same people were hogging the pool, ALL day long. They also went out back and smoked pot on numerous occasions. I know because I have to go out and check the pressure on my truck tanker every so often. I mean, walking into a main entrance, the marijuana smoke was coming right into my nostrils. Management did nothing about it but they certainly had people out there at times and security cameras as well. Not hard to tell what a joint looks like or how it is being smoked. Them allowing these people to literally take over the pool all day long was bad enough. On a minor note, they had a Keurig machine in the room! But, they only left Earl Gray tea and on decaffeinated coffee K-cup. Really? No real coffee? I went to my truck and got my own K-cups for the morning since the first thing I want is a cup of hot coffee, not a trip to the front desk asking them if they have any. Oh, yes I went to the front desk to ask, there was a line of people standing there checking in. No thanks, they should have had regular coffee in my room to begin with. Freeway noise. Excessive. If you are a light sleeper you aren't going to like the highway sides of this hotel. Kind of strange this setup with that much noise in a hotel that is less than a year old. The room was decent, I'll give them that. The lady at the front desk was nice and friendly. But that doesn't really cut it when the place is poorly managed. If your restaurant is closed for everything but breakfast, feel free to post that on your website. Don't piss people off by having them come in and find out on their own. Lots of better options in the Allentown-Bethlehem area, I'd simply suggest you look elsewhere. 1/5 Restaurant is closed, they are only serving breakfast. No mention of this is on their website that I could find. People smoking pot right next to the entrance door at the rear of the facility. On and off all day long as they left the pool room - hogged the indoor pool room I should say, they were in there literally all day long and there is a limit to the number of people allowed in there - and management doing nothing about it. I mean, if you want to smoke marijuana, don't do it right next to the entrance, that's rude and I don't want to breath that stuff in. And on a minor note, the Keurig coffee machine? The K-cups they left to use were 4 tea cups and one decaffeinated cup. What happened to real coffee? Fortunately I have my own Keurig K-cups and went and got them out of my truck. I really think management of this place needs to be replaced, I've had far better experiences at numerous Holiday Inns - and those were all Holiday Inn Exrpess. The room was nice, I"ll give them that. I definitely didn't get my money's worth here and I would suggest if you want a well managed hotel, avoid this place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I am a loyal IHG member. I like the consistency of the brand. I normally stay at the HIE just up the street, so when I noticed this former nice hotel in the area became a HI I decided to try it out. This Holiday Inn definitely fits the IHG brand expectations. I am glad I now have 2 choices in the area especially since the HIE fill up quickly. This HI-Allentown was clean, upgraded and has a friendly staff. All the things I look for in a stay. The breakfast was satisfactory and a nice start to my day. These are the reasons I keep coming back to IHG hotels. Thank you TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Very Nice Stay
Jan 13th, 2020
From a very nice greeting to a thank you for staying it was a nice stay in a very clean, comfy room.Bed was clean, pillows were more than adequate,TV was crisp and colorful.Channel selection was above average.Shower and bathroom had hot water and a rather quiet toilet when refilling.Heater was needed and was on the quiet side. There were plenty of outlets for recharging and personal use.Phone charger station on bed table. One issue was the prices at the bar and grill. If you don't need a tapped beer and can get a 6 pack somewhere else,do it.The price for a 16 oz. tapped beer and 6 wings was $17.00.That is really high for what it was.Other than that the stay was enjoyable, comfy and a return stay would be planned for there if in the area. I think one thing should be stated. This property’s changed from a Wingate that was virtually condemned. I have lived in ABE area for years and knew to never put anyone up here BEFORE! Now it’s a Hotel Makeover. All new duds, all new people and all new attitude. I am VERY impressed with the new IHG vision of Holiday Inn and this hotel sets the bar. The new style is inviting and the atmosphere is warm, especially last night with the Holiday Music and decoration. Tequan at the front desk is amazing. He has been in the hospitality biz for 9 years. His experience at higher end hotels makes him a great way to welcome the new deal here. I’m not TPG, or a writer for the Times, but I enjoy talking hotels with those who know. We had many chats and now I feel I have a friend here. After all, he listened to me complain about missing SPG and hating Marriott. The breakfast is great for the price, a ton of food! Try the Belgian Waffles. My daughter swears they’re the best she ever had. The access road to get here is a bit tricky. So if you are pulling right into the lot, rebook this hotel.
