Nice hotel in a mad place!

Hotel was lovely and the location was brilliant right on South Beach. We were there at Spring break which was an interesting time. Very, very busy and the resort was full of young people enjoying themselves. The hotel has an Art Deco frontage and in parts is in need of a refurb but the staff were lovely and very helpful. A long weekend in Miami - Feb 28-Mar 4/2020
Mar 5th, 2020
This is our 4th stay at the Winter Haven. In the past we have used the hotel for a night stay before or after a cruise leaving Miami, this was our first experience spending a few days. For those considering a stay here keep in mind that the hotel is more of a boutique hotel and considered an Art Deco historical landmark. If you are looking for new, large rooms and bathrooms with a pool - look elsewhere. The staff at this hotel could no be more cordial or helpful. They are very attentive to your needs and continually ask if you need anything. Barbaro met us at the door and took care of all of our needs during our stay. He is very attentive, always willing to help and always with a smile. He is a true asset to the hotel. On this occasion we had 2 rooms booked and were on the 2nd floor - neither had an ocean view as we did not book one. The rooms were clean and bright stocked with a couple of bottles of water, a fridge and alcohol to purchase if you so wish. The bathroom/shower comes equipped with shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. The room was cleaned promptly each day and supplies are replenished. The hotel common areas are always neat and tidy as is the public bathroom. For those wanting to take a bicycle ride on the boardwalk there are bicycles available at the hotel. The hotel is directly on Ocean Dr and directly across the beach with beach access. If you care to spend time at the beach you make a request at the front desk for towels and ice if you have a cooler. We always pop in the Walgreens one block west of the hotel on Collins to grab a cooler and some beverages on the beach. When you cross the boardwalk and take the path to the beach you will go the beach hut/trailer that has the number '13' on it. You let the attendant at the hut know you are with the Winter Haven, they confirm your name/room with a list they have and you are then free to select chairs. The folks at Boucher Brothers are polite and helpful. We love the Winter Haven for its location, proximity to the beach and we especially are fond of the attached restaurant ll Bolognese. We will always return to the Winter Haven when we visit the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Location, Comfortable Hotel
Mar 5th, 2020
I'm giving this hotel a generous 4 out of 5 mainly for the friendliness of the staff, great location and comfortable rooms. Right across the street from the beach with free beach lounge chairs (you'll have to pay $20 for the umbrella). Also, you do pay $20/day resort fee which includes the chairs. One word of caution - if you park a car at the hotel, be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes to retrieve the car from valet. You can schedule a time to have your car brought around, which I did, but they only got it right 1 out of the two times I requested which left me late for a meeting. The restaurant out front is very good - we had breakfast out there each money and hosted a family dinner one night. Another word of caution - they will automatically add service charges to your dining bill which I didn't realize the night of a $350 dinner and added an additional tip of 20% so, in effect, the staff earned about a 35% tip that night! An beautiful, clean, well cared for property; with a wonderful staff. A 5-Star job well done.

This hotel was perfect. It was right in the middle of Ocean Drive and all the activity. The staff was wonderful from the minute we arrived and throughout our visit. From Barbaro at the door, to the front desk staff, the wait service, housekeepers and housemen were extremely dedicated to providing excellent service. The room was small but spotless and the decor was adorable; it was a bright, lovely room. Our a/c wasn't working properly and it was fixed immediately upon notifying the front desk. The restaurant was excellent and there is a beautiful deck on top of the hotel with gorgeous views. My friend and I sat up there at dusk enjoying good conversation and wine. We had a wonderful time and the hotel was a large part of that, I am going back in August. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
South beach stay
Feb 16th, 2020
Been awhile since we had been to south beach . We booked the winter haven as it is listed as a Marriott property. They must just manage as no signs it’s a Marriott at all. Staff is off the charts friendly and accommodating. Restaurant in hotel il Bolognese is very good food and reasonably priced comparatively. The only flaw and it was not small is they listed the room as having two queen beds as we were 4 people. Beds are twins so very tough for two people on each. Frontline desk acknowledged it’s a lie on the website and happy to let you out of reservation but no where else to go and no other rooms available. Beach chairs and toes worked well. Thought the $20 a day resort fee was not that bad for chairs and towels. Additional point about all restaurants in Miami is the added 20% auto gratuity. Many don’t mention it either TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
