Bueatiful plAce, food was ok. Room was nice but no A/C. Air is really thin...market was nice, they sold all kinds of snacks... gotta try the dry mango chili . Hiking trails are pretty close to the hotel. Would definitely visit again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just OK, better if you plan ahead

Aug 9th, 2020

Delaware North runs this and several other properties in national parks. They are all about profit. They have their "Rest Assured" program to tell you all about how they are keeping everyone safe from COVID-19.I Those are just words. The dining patio was never cleaned between parties. A few employees listlessly cleaned some grocery store handles once in awhile. The hotel room was not clean. Food wrappers, nut shells, crushed pill on floor. Other than that, it's just a typical NP room. Old, dated, no AC. The room was SO hot in the afternoon with the sun beating in. Had to turn off the wimpy fan which blows hot air in the room in the afternoon, and close the drapes. Fan was better at night, so that helped. You're paying for the location, a bed & bathroom. There are some great hikes & sights. If you plan accordingly, this can work. It's just not ideal. Recommend: Bring your own food as much as you can. There's a decent sized mini fridge in the room. No microwave. Our own sandwich fixings & breakfast foods worked well. The dinners at the patio were AWFUL. Pizza was just OK. Other foods were hard to choke down. Bring some camp chairs so you can sit out in the woods in the afternoons & evenings and enjoy the breeze and your own food. It's too hot to be in the room in summer. Maybe bring a book. Since the museums, visitor centers, many campgrounds & picnic areas are closed, so hiking is LITERALLY the only thing to do. Sit out in your lawn chair with a book. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable stay

Aug 9th, 2020

We stayed one night at this hotel last minute, the hotel was clean and comfortable. We saw some deer hanging outside of the hotel in the morning. The kids loved it. There is no elevators it’s stairs only and if you need to use a cart to transport your belongings it’s kind of a pain. The food at the check in area was amazing. Austin was a great chef, We ordered pizza and ribs for dinner and their breakfast burrito burritos were also very yummy. The staff was very friendly I would recommend, it’s close to lots of attractions. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great room and limited food service.

Aug 6th, 2020

We stayed for three nights. Upon check-in, we were informed there will be no coffee pot, alarm clock, and hairdryer in the rooms due to COVID-19. There is no loaner hairdryer available and the closest town is over an hour away. The room was spacious. We had to push the luggage cart quite a distance to get to our room in the Stewart building. There is no AC in the rooms but a window fan which was sufficient and created enough air circulation that the room was comfortable. The bathtub and the toilet are very low to the ground. Everything worked well except the water pressure was low. There is a well-stocked market for food and snack. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner with outside seating only and take-out. Not much variety or healthy options. We tried the pizza which was pretty good. There was no maid service during our stay but we could contact the front desk and get whatever we are short on. We did ask for more towels and they were delivered very quickly. Check-out is contactless as all accounts had to pay in full when check-in. We dropped the keys off way before the 11 AM check out time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Step into relaxation

Aug 3rd, 2020

If Perfect location is what you are looking for, this IS the place! I mean, you are in the middle of nature. We saw a mama dear and baby one morning, a mama bear with her cubs the next! My teenage daughters, did not use their phones once during this trip! Another benefit of staying here is that day hikes and picnic areas are within a 5-10 min drive. Our favorite hikes were Tokopah Falls, which starts at the Lodgepole camping ground parking lot, and Little Baldy, which starts right off of the 198 (there is a trail on both sides of the street, make sure to take the one that keeps going up, not the one through the meadow). The deluxe queen room is comfortable, has a tv with good cable, and the WIFI worked well. Videos take a while to load sometimes, but my daughter was able to finish her online class via google classroom with no connection issues. Coffee maker was removed due to Covid, but delicious fresh coffee was served in the lobby every morning. The fridge is roomy, just be careful not too over load it, because stuff at the top, too close to freezer will freeze. There is no AC, but the fans are sufficient enough to keep the room cool. The ONLY reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that I found left over food and drinks in the fridge when we arrived in our room. During Covid times, I would have expected a thorough cleaning. That being said, I was prepared with my own cleaning materials. Staff is super friendly and all wearing masks. I would definitely stay here again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
