Keep searching! Don’t let the views fools you!

Oct 16th, 2020

Coming from an international traveler, Straight to the point, this was WAY BELOW AVERAGE. DO NOT STAY HERE!! Run!! The views are thee ONLY thing this basic dated subpar hotel has to offer. (We were on the 26th floor). There are no restaurants, no room service, no housekeeping, no rooftop access, no parking, and ZERO FREE in room WiFi or sufficient linen worth the $100 incidental rate charged per night, not to mention the noise levels. They present a warm welcome to take your payment knowing all the filth behind the room doors. Parking is $50 per night down the street around the corner. We stayed less than 4 hours before switching hotels. Save your time. Save your your money. Enjoy your stay elsewhere. Effective 10/16/20. P.S. we tried all resolve before leaving a review but the only thing they offered was a single credit of $30 and advised there was no manager to speak with. I was extremely disappointed in the level of service from this establishment and very much can for see a foreclosure in the future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful views/ Horrible customer service

Oct 13th, 2020

First off got to the hotel lobby was nice. Person who checked us in was fairly nice was given 38th floor after paying asked for a lower floor since my husband is afraid of highest was told the 35 floor is the lowest they had about 2 hours later I spoke to a diffeent front desk person to be given a lower floor this was the first of my problems with the service. Second thing was there was not housekeeping services due to the hotel being closed since April to Oct 8th but I didn't make a fuss since we would only be in the hotel mainly at night and for towel and things you just ask the front desk. On my last night their I stepped in the bathroom and the floor near the toilet and shower was wet didnt really pay much attention thought it was just from taking a shower. Well after about a hour my guess went to the bathroom and the whole floor was covered and it smelled horrible. Come to find out it was backed up sewage due to one of our guest was a engineer and he told the staff member that came up with a plunger that it was not the toilet that was stopped up he actually flushed it and the toilet flushed without a issue and he pointed out that how the shower was backing up and water was coming out the back and the bottom of the toilet that since the hotel has not been opened for five months and all the people are now in the hotel and everyone is using it is what was causing the back up. Well my husband and him where told at first that we could not switch rooms and other staff member was like they can not stay in that room with sewage.. And to top it all off taked to the person that checked us in which was the manager and was told the only to accommodate us he could give me some reward points. I was so upset I just went to my room and left the property I have stayed at 2 and 3 star hotels that I've gotten better service at. I have stayed at other Royal Sonesta properties and have gotten better service I will never ever stay at this location again. Not to mention I had reservations for 3 rooms for the money we spent lesson learned never ever again HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! The only employee I can say was ok was the blonde lady that gave us a lower room sorry I didn't get her name TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Couples weekend ruined

Jul 14th, 2020

This is place is very nice. The location ended up being very ideal for the activities we had in mind to do. So i was very excited. We had been waiting for this getaway for months. Came from St. Louis. It was very hard to get request we called for like clean sheets, towels fulfilled. We shouldn't have had to ask for these things anyway. It was like whatever we asked for or needed, they had no sense of urgency. We could just...wait. Spent of the waiting for common things just to get comfortable than we did exploring the city. The reason we came. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

wonderful view from our 16th floor window

Apr 12th, 2020

We stayed here during the quiet season so almost had it to ourselves. Our check-in was quick and the staff helpful - lent us umbrellas when it was raining. The doorman with the bowler hat (sorry I never asked his name) was also full of friendly advice. Our river-view window gave us a perfect vista of the river, ranging from the Wrigley Building, Trump Tower, the Corncobs and the river and bridges as far as where it splits to go north and south. At night it was super view, despite a bit of fog on the first night. And right nearby is a great bakery that serves a great breakfast with a view onto the passers by on Wacker Ave. The hotel is in a great location for Michigan Ave, both walking south (to the parks and museums) or north (the Magnificent Mile shops). Great time

Mar 10th, 2020

We had a beautiful river view room! Fast elevators, friendly front desk. Upon return after first day we realized there was no controller for the TV, I went down asked about it and they sent one right up. Clean rooms, clean bed, I dont know if my room up "updated" but it was on the 26th floor 2601, right beside the elevator but I never heard a thing! Nice Kurig coffee maker, seating area and view! All i need! It is right in the middle of it all. Walking distance to everywhere, 15 min to navy pier, 3min to the beginning of Michigan Ave shopping 20 min to 360 Chicago, 8 min to Wildberry pancakes and food all around! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
